Fails to Deliver

I wanted so much to like this product but for the price it falls way short of the mark & I'm likely to return it. Maybe for $55 it would be worth it. At close to 3x that amount no way. There's a couple reasons it fails to meet expectations. One of the first is the battery life is abysmal. As soon as you power it up and put it down it's already under 95%. In it's wide ranging mode you may get 20 minutes out of it but by that point you're definitely under %35. You're best bet is stationary mode to preserve power but that doesn't make up for what you've paid for. I also bought this cat toy knowing my daughter might enjoy using the app to remotely control Mousr. Forget about it. The controls are so poorly calibrated that it's almost pointless and really just more frustrating. By the time you get even the slightest sense of how to maneuver it the battery will be spent. Finally the hope would be that in autonomous mode you could let it do it's thing. Yet I found it would rarely last 5 miutes before there's an alert that Mousr needs your help. It can find its way out of a paper bag. Seriously, the way I was impressed with my Xiaomi Roborock vaccum to navigate itself around anything I had really high hopes. I think part of the problem that because Mousr is so small it limits potential to put a decent battery in it as well as navigation and sensing software. I planned on wrapping this for Christmas but wanted to see how well it opperates first. I'm glad I did because I think it would have been a big disappointment. They came close but missed unless you might get one for a third of the price. Otherwise your better off duct tapping a cat toy to a remote controlled car & playing that way. Looks like I'll be returning this one.

We have a Mousr in our house!
by Lienkie (5 out of 5 stars)

I have been waiting for this....what took you guys so long!?! Even my grandma kitties are playing with Mousr as if they're kittens again! Mousr BAITS the kitties into trying to catch him. It is hilarious to watch the kittens catch him drag off their prize...only to have the prize escape their clutches!

So far I love this thing. It is super entertaining to watch my fur babies in action. I've only seen them go this crazy over crinkle balls and catnip before. Yes, the Mousr battery is short lived, roughly 40 minutes to death. For what he goes through though, and his size, it's not a deal breaker. Besides, he's rechargeable. Mousr can be controlled through the app, or a button on the bottom of his chin. The app gives options: fast speed, slow, flick tail, swat, pauses - and it is super user friendly. Mousr actively seeks out his play victims, so that sensor is amazing!! There were also a couple of times that Mousr was put on his back or side, and I thought: ah boy, better save the mouse...only to watch him flip himself rightside up again!

Yes, Mousr is pricey. BUT SO WORTH IT. We love our Mousr, and have officially named him Mousedini.

Great idea, shaky on the execution
by Mimi (3 out of 5 stars)
November 18, 2018

This is a good idea in theory, but I was expecting better execution and better programming for the cost. The Mousr robot itself is seems sturdy and able to withstand some rough play. However, the automatic play mode (which makes this toy stand out) could certainly use some work - it causes the toy to get stuck fairly often and while my cats (both of which are very playful and will chase just about anything) give an interested sniff once in a while, they lose interest pretty quickly especially once the robot works itself into a corner. The remote control mode is easy to use, though it loses track of direction pretty easily, but that's not much different from tying a cat toy to the end of a remote control car toy (which would cost much less)! Finally, the battery runs out incredibly quickly, especially if you just let the Mousr run in auto mode - I was hoping to have a toy I could leave on when I leave for work to entertain the cats remotely, but the toy will only last for an hour or two on a battery charge. Maybe once they work the kinks out of the system and give the Mousr an upgrade or two, this will be worth it, but for now, I don't think it's worth the $150 price tag!

This is a waste of money
by Mary (1 out of 5 stars)

This $150 toy only keeps a charge for about 30 minutes. It can't entertain your pets while you're out because it dies. Also, within the first few minutes, my cat ate almost all the feathers off the tail!

Your cat may not be as excited as you about this purchase.

I did return the product as my cat loved the tails but never took to the toy itself. so when I disconnect the tail especially the blue fur - and just entice her she is nuts over it but when I connect it to the mousr she is spooked out and the wheels noise made her uncomfortable. I took like 7 days every day trying twice a full battery to convince her to play with it but she never got the hang of it. Sad as I was extremely excited about it. Also for me the toy got stuck twice and I had to reboot it and when it happened third time I just had no more patience for it as a 200$ toy I expected it to be fun. technologically I get it the concept is awesome but it is not completed yet to its full potential. if the cat is young I see it can be easy to have the cat get to the fun part but my 5 years old girl - never got close to it.... just sad as I really wished it worked as I imagined and was convinced from the advertising. Anyway I tried and I ended returning it.

My cat's love it but the tails are a problem
by Wesley (4 out of 5 stars)

My cat's love Mousr but the tails are a big problem. My cat's have destroyed the feather tail with in 10mins of having it and damaged the string on the other one. That being said they love it and I'll be shelling out another $40 for more tails.

There is a learning curve
by Alex (5 out of 5 stars)
October 23, 2018

This is a great product, and my cat loves it. My only complaint would be the learning curve associated with smartphone remote control. My advice is to look at the nose of the mousr when you're steering, and trust your thumb to do the rest. I would have loved a physical remote control, but the app is more than serviceable once you get used to it. I do have on suggestion for the app however; please add all the tail functions to the remote page. Being limited to one tail action is slightly frustrating, because I'd rather not go into the settings to change it. I also recommend to anyone who purchases this product, that they get the tail pack. This only comes with 2 tails, and your cat may get bored of them quickly. All that being said, this is a great product, and like another reviewer said, spending $150.00 is worth it if you're sick of striking out on cheaper cat toys that break, or simply don't work like you expected them too.

TOY IS AMAZING
by Brandon Wright (5 out of 5 stars)
November 3, 2018

This is really the best cat toy I've ever owned. I literally rage bought it after the pet smart 15.00 piece of junk worked quarter assed I'd say, then died, then I had to go through hell to return the thing, and thought, welp this is why retail is dead. Found this guy and purchased...

Kitty was warming it up to and then i pushed the enevelpe a bit chasing her down the bamboo stairs with it, and she bolted! Hid for like an hour but came back up and I slowly warmed her back up to it.

But now, I mean I have her chasing it all over the house, under table where she has lots of cover, she is still scared of it, but just enough to make it fun! she definitely will attack it when it pauses.

Only down side is the battery life is short, like twenty minutes of play if you're directing it, i think the auto mode keeps it alive longer though.

Best toy on the market.
by O. Hernandez (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this product for a certain cat of mine that likes to cause trouble when he's bored. Between 1 and 2 am. Any week a full moon happens, forget about it.. it doesn't matter if I wear him out early. He recharges like he's got some solar panel built in. Obviously it isn't easy to sleep. When I saw this on the news I was impressed by it. But I was skeptical. Especially with the price.

Well it turns out it was well worth it. The little toy is small enough to get in and under most areas without a problem. That's a good and bad. So be sure to close off areas it can get into that have clutter.

I'll give you the cons.

The battery is kind of short.

But it's not unreasonable. Considering the attention span of most cats is short.

It needs more accessories.

There are only 2 included. But it may have to do with the program it must run to entice your cat using the toy. It does an excellent job of it. So maybe in the next version or in an update it could happen?

It can't deal with wires.

Like really. This thing just can't even.

It doesn't return itself to the charger. This may have to do with the requirement of removing the tail first.

Sometimes it gets it's tail stuck in the wheel..

Nothing can fix this. It's called get off your lazy butt.

The controls are kind of difficult.

It needs options on customizing button lay out and sensitivity settings.

The pros.

It charges really fast

It will let you know it's stuck.

The ai is pretty fun to watch play with your cat.

It can flip itself over!

It has an all day mode. But it takes long breaks to pull it off. Still though it will wake up when it senses movements.

It's really fast for something so small. Your cat will be surprised.

Verdict. Buy it if you are desperate for sleep and you have a cat that must be exercised. Exercise is great for their overall well being. So that price tag will pale in comparison to a vet bill.

I think what can improve this product is a real controller. And a camera w/ night vision on the device. So you can drive it out of areas the ai can't work it's way out of. The ai is very impressive though. It problem solves pretty good.

Life saver!
by Ali Hortacsu (5 out of 5 stars)
February 14, 2019

I have been looking for this tech all my life especially after buying so many toys that either my cats weren't interested or that I had to push toys back n forth to keep them interested. I've had Mousr for 4 months now and actively using it every day. Most people already captured the cons of it like battery life, having to adjust or recover or just press play again after it gets stuck to resume, but whilst those are very true unfortunately, the idea, attempt and the fact that it makes wonders while keeping my cat of 4 years old still entertained is incredible! They are constantly improving the Android app, introduced all day play mode to conserve battery as much as they can.

That being said, product definitely needs improvement. As the battery unfortunately isn't best as its tiny, they can take a look at the many vacuum cleaners and Vector Robot by Anki and make a return to home and recharge when battery is low. Needs navigational improvement as well. I don't think the confine play area ever worker for me. It'd be nice if it could map out the house or floor. Not sure how vacuum cleaners navigate...

Also being able to hold the tails constantly at an angle would be improvement.

Traction wise, it's rear wheel drive and tail is at the back, so most weight is at the back, so it tends to spin it's tires a lot consuming the battery. This I guess is nature's fault as they're trying to stick to real mouse's silhouette :)

Anyways, I usually keep the settings at Wall Hugger mode and sometimes my cat just likes to watch it from a high ground, sometimes goes after it and really plays with it especially, interestingly when it's stuck somewhere and actively tries to free itself.

I've barely used the Precise Mode, but I use the manual mode a lot. It's really fun to wiggle the tail close my cat, it engages her.

She likes the bounce tail more than the flick, because it has feathers and sits upright.

Mousr works in 2 ways. Either double click the button on it to engage auto mode or use the phone app to connect via bluetooth to manually control or set to auto mode.

If it had a tiny camera and if playing worked over wifi (in addition to bluetooth) it'd allow remote playing even when I'm traveling or at work or something...

Well endless possibilities for improvement. I'm currently just glad with it's capabilities and was worth every penny.

Worth mentioning, something had happened to the speaker as it wasn't functioning as loudy as before (of couse it wasn't settings related), I emailed them, returned the product and got it back repaired in a week. Great customer service! While at that, the sounds Mousr makes also captures my cat's attention. No it doesn't meow, more like a chime and a whistle sound. 3 sound levels exists.

In short, for a 4 year old 10lb cat this is the best toy that she could probably ask for now which enables me to be even lazier :)

It's great and works as advertised, thus 5 points. Room for improvement for sure but, I'm not going to give lower score for that and discourage people. This is an awesome product! I hope they'll make a second version.

Sorry for rather unstructured review!
