Part of child-proofing the house before an adoption placement meant making sure the chest freezer was safe. This lock was easy to install, the adhesive is mega-strong, everything is metal, and the keyed lock works very smoothly. Also, about as nice looking as something like this can be (appreciate it was available in white).

It is easy to install. So far I haven't had any problem. My kids open the upright freezer regularly and I find open many times. I decided to install it to protect them to eat frozen fruits and keep it closed all the time unless we need something from it. The pads are with very strong glue. I don't think there will any problems as far as keeping the freezer open but I don't know whether the cable will survive if they decide to open forcefully?! I'll let you know if there is a change. So far I am very happy with the product.
