About us
Rust-Oleum was founded on the principle of creating innovative products. And, after 100 years, we're just getting started!
In 1921, sea captain Robert Fergusson noticed that fish oil prevented rust from forming on his ship’s metal deck. Working with a chemist, Fergusson developed one of the world’s first rust-preventive paints and Rust-Oleum was born.
Starting with just 24 colors of paint, Rust-Oleum has grown to be one of the global leaders in manufacturing innovative coatings that empower do-it-yourselfers and professionals alike. We strive to honor the same innovative spirit that started Rust-Oleum a century ago in all our categories, including small project paints, cleaners, primers, automotive, industrial, high-performance coatings, wood care and more.

UPDATE: I've been running this repaired remote for months now. This product didn't make my remote as good as new. It's BETTER than new. The performance of the remote was significantly improved. My hypothesis is that the conductivity of the buttons is higher than with the original conductive coating on the keys. If the actual operating current for the remote passes through the keys, there may be more current available for the IR signal. Just a guess. There is no question about the performance improvement.
Similarly, had 2 RFID key fobs for a car which would not work well anymore. Opened up the fobs and noticed the worn battery contacts on the PCB and coated them with CaiKote and again, the key fobs work like they were brand new. Great product.
EDIT: I see what other reviewers mean. This stuff works for a few months, but eventually it wears out. In one case, it started short-circuiting in my remote control and randomly triggering button presses.
Again, quite expensive for this little tiny vial, but I'll probably never use it all in my lifetime and it saved me at least $200 and saved my gear from ending up in a landfill.
