Dr wrapped my foot with the cold therapy pad before I even left the operating room. 1 hr on/ 1 hr off for the first week, then stretched out the 'off' time to 2-3 hours between sessions. I cycled frozen water bottles: 10 min at 3, 50 at 1-1 1/2.
Swelling was kept to a min, pain was kept to a minimum - only one really bad day, when the block started easing up. Morning icing took care of overnight pain build up, and sticking to the routine was very important for keeping the pain at bay.
At the first post-op visit, the Dr said it was healing better than he expected after only 1 week, and ended up good enough that the stitches came out 3 days early!
I would recommend this system and this process for anyone having ankle surgery.
I have submitted to see if they will cover this under warranty of not. I will update this review when I hear back.
Other than that, the machine is great. Very quite, looks nicer than the competition, and is the only reason I'm not on pain pills.
