Product Description

ATP Transmission filters are designed to keep the transmission fluid clean and flowing consistently, as intended by the original manufacturer. This is achieved by matching the OE specification of particle filtration and fluid flow. Every transmission will eventually accumulate debris from normal wear and tear. It is critical that the transmission fluid is kept clean so that the valve body and other vital components do not become clogged making them in-operable. By regularly replacing your transmission filter, you will be extending your transmission’s life and avoiding the possibility of costly repairs.
About ATP Automotive: ATP was founded on July 1, 1955. The company was an innovator of transmission rebuild kits and, over the years, has expanded its product offering to include automatic transmission filter kits, repair kits, cables, flywheels and ring gears, cabin air filters and chemicals. In 2001, the Graywerks by ATP line was introduced. This line consists of exhaust manifolds, harmonic balancers, timing covers and engine and transmission pans. ATP Automotive strives to provide the highest quality parts to their valued customers. The company was fully rebranded as ATP Automotive in 2014.

Gasket bulges when torqued to specification, no leaks yet. 2014 Frontier AT. (UPDATE)
Installed on a 2014 Nissan Frontier SV V6 automatic transmission. I just did a fluid change and gasket replacement yesterday so this review is very new; I will update if anything changes. The fluid change went well with the obvious exception. As you can see in the pictures the gasket will bulge out when torqued to the 70 in-lbs as per specification. I have driven it 20 miles so far via 3 trips going up to 65 mph for 10 min intervals. I don't think there are any leaks; no egregious ones that is. There might be a slight leak at a corner or maybe it was my poor job of cleaning it so I did a fresh clean with degreaser and will monitor. I am just disappointed at the bulging, but if this holds up and doesn't leak then I suppose I can't complain. I will get this gasket from the dealer next time. Note: I removed the old gasket completely with a plastic scraper and dried the pan. I placed the new gasket on the pan, added 4 (corner) bolts to the pan to hold the gasket in place and installed, torqued each bolt in an alternating opposite manner. Even at 65 in-lbs the gasket bulged. Total ATF used = 4 3/4 quarts ( I let it drain for 2 hours).Late Update (8/2022)Since I didn't like this gasket after install (due to the bulging) I replaced it with an OEM from the dealer but that is when I found out that this gasket will warp your drain pan and you will no longer have a flat mating surface to make a good seal. In other words, if you use this gasket it will without a doubt warp your stamped metal drain pan and you can no longer use OEM gaskets. I had to buy a new pan to remedy the situation. Morale of the story, this gasket is complete garbage. Just get it from the dealer for a few bucks more and save yourself the headache.

Did the transmission service on my 2011 Xterra that has close to 130k miles . Previously done at 100k miles. I read the reviews that suggested the filter was good but the gasket would mushroom up so I ended up purchasing a OEM gasket alongside this kit . I torqued OEM gasket to spec and lifted the car up after filling with transmission fluid only to notice it was leaking....so I ended up using the rubber gasket from the kit . The idea with the aftermarket gaskets is to not torque to spec and instead use a 1/4 wrench with extension and tighten up snug by hand . No leaks so far will update on next oil change when I'll have it up in the air again.

Nice rubber gasket and it all fit well

This gasket is soft rubber. It fits well and holds the bolts snug before installation of the pan. Do not use any other sealant, clean the pan surface well and wipe clean gasket. Use good parts cleaner spray to clean transmission body mating surface where the pan goes. Locate orientation and place gasket on the pan and start inserting bolts through the pan. The gasket holes are tight and will hold the bolts in place. Now match the pan orientation to the transmission body, raise the pan and start hand tightening the bolts. Be careful using power tool. After all the bolts are inserted all the way lightly its time to start toquing. In a star pattern going across the sides start raising torque 15-20 inlbs each time. If you do not have torque ranch its ok to go without until you start feeling ample resistance. Watch if the gasket is squeezing out of the pan edge than its time to stop. When all bolts are evnly tightened, fill up and run the engine to warm up. Go for a short test drive and look for leakage. After few days of driving go back and retighten if you feel the bolts are losened up a little. Its normal. Daily check the oil level and any drip/leak under the vehicle. Rubber gasket creeps and it may be impossible to go to full torque value in the Car manual which I think is82 in-lb. I was well belkow that around 60. But the Trans oil pressure is low and leaks are rare unless you distoted the pan by not following precautions during the tightening. Star pattern is good to follow at the last few rounds otherwise go around the pan bolts skipping one each time. You can number the bolts and go odd and even numbers each round.

I purchased this kit a few months ago and put it on the shelf. When I opened the box today, the gasket was missing. I called ATP and in about 2 minutes they took my information and are sending me a replacement gasket. I really appreciate a company that makes things right with no hassle!

Bought these for my 2006 Frontier. Rubber gasket is nice, filter was easy to swap.

Filter was good quality and a perfect fit. The rubber gasket is a major pain. In my opinion, I would have been better off putting a light coating of gasket sealer on the old one and re-using it. Or--if I would have had any old school gasket GLUE like Hi-Tac, I could have glued it on. The problem is, in order to get the bolts tight enough so they won't fall out, it causes the thin rubber gasket to squish out no matter how careful you are. Had to re-do the job after just 40 miles, and this isn't a job I wanted to do again. My Xterra had 120K on it and the original filter was still clean--it's only wire mesh, so unless you've gotten sludge or something in it, I think a new filter is probably unnecessary--I wish I would have just drained the ATF and left it alone. The whole rubber gasket thing just ruined my day. I think the only reason they supply such a flimsy gasket is so they can roll it up and stuff it in a tiny box.
