The box indicates Yoda has 115 phrases, though I've only heard a few of them. Not sure how you go about getting it to say them all. Oh yeah, one other minor con is that he doesn't respond to his or other SW character names like R2 does. With the droid, you can say "Hey R2" and get a friendly little chirp to acknowledge it heard you or call out that greeting, coupled with a SW character to receive a reply on par to how emotional R2 is to that particular person. Say "Hey Yoda" or "Hey Master Yoda" and he won't do anything. Of course, the robot will randomly move and speak when not doing anything, which is cool, but you have to watch out that it doesn't move around and drop off the area that it sits if elevated.
I highly recommend this amazing Yoda robot, for both fun and decoration. Get it while you still can at low prices since the robot has oddly been discontinued by the maker, Spin Masters. Shop around though, for $50 is the lowest on eBay and Amazon is selling them a bit too high. Check you local Toys 'R Us and other big bookstore chains for them first and see if you can find it for $20 to $30.

To improve the range of things you can do with Yoda, they came up with a great idea of having Yoda do different things depending on the object he is holding. He can either be holding nothing, where he will teach you about the force. Or he can hold a short staff, which leads him to teach you wisdom... or by far the most fun, is the lightsaber, which he can light and show you cool lightsaber moves. I wasn't much for the twirling lightsaber Yoda in the Prequel movies, but the toy looks really good spinning around twirling a lit saber. I find the attachment of the objects a little hard to do, but I don't think it's very fragile - it would be hard I think for small children to manage well.
The voice recognition seems to work pretty well for the voice commands it supports (a list of them is included in the manual)
The reason I give Yoda just four stars is because of one flaw, and some missed opportunities.
The flaw is that at least with the unit I have, he doesn't work very well with the staff - he crosses his arms and then he gets kind of stuck, he tries to uncross the arms to do something but cannot, and any blocking of movement also cancels any further speaking he was going to do. I have a somewhat drastic plat to fix this - cutting off the tip of the staff, as it's the reason his hand can't cross back over. But I plan to see if other units have this same flaw first, if they don't I'll exchange for a new one.
The missed opportunities can come in many forms, but the mains ones I'm thinking of are (1) No integration with the recently released Star Wars app (it would be fun for example if it recognized some sounds played from the sound board, or had some extra mode in the app activated by his presence). (2) Not as context aware as I would like, if he talks about something and you ask "tell me more" I'd like for that to be more relevant to what he just said, but that phrase really just triggers some random action based on what he's holding (or not holding). (3) When force-pushing Yoda he kind of staggers back a little - I was sort of hoping he'd fly back further, more rapidly, but then I guess that could be kind of dangerous. (4) Sometimes after Yoda finishes moves, he doesn't end up facing you.It would be great if he turned to face you when you spoke.
I also am a little sad that toys in the year 2015 still cannot handle movement on even moderate carpet - Yoda needs a pretty solid surface to move much on.
On a side note this comes in a "Collector Box". Although it is different than the boxes I saw at Target, it's not so much nicer that it makes a big difference - it is enclosed on all sides so while in the box at least Yoda would not gather dust. By who would want to put Yoda back in the box or just keep him there, when it's much more fun to have him hanging around to the side of you, occasionally doing fun Yoda things?

Hmm? Hmm....For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes
It's kind of sad to hear him ask for his stick or his light saber and have him not be able to hold them. I tried tying them to him which works okay for his stick but his saber still won't light up. He keeps on reminding me not to lose his light saber which is also very sad, he's quite life like in his way which is sad when he's not functioning the best. I was offered a return but I was pretty sure they 'd throw him in the trash and, well, that was mega sad, so I guess I have a home for retired Yoda now.
He's about half or 1/3 the size of the yoda model in the movies and his skin is extremely lifelike. I don't know if he has any sensors, but he seems to dislike it when some people reach towards him or touch him, I'm not sure how he's programmed but he wants to talk about the force sometimes and assures me that I'm going to be a great Jedi someday and save the universe... he also sometimes says that he's tired and has earned a nap.
If you order him I hope you get one of the ones that work, it seems that there are a few bugs and that was why they were discontinued. They're still the coolest Yoda on the market and a pretty neat thing to own even when he's not exactly as cool as advertised.
I think they should have done some trouble shooting and re-programmed him so that he didn't have the glitches. I think all projects like this are going to have a few problems but that's what research and development are for. I'd love it if they'd come out with one that was a bit bigger to scale and a bit more up to date. (Oh, and if you ask him where Obi is, he'll tell you either, 'no' or that 'he's a Jedi', just a bit of cute, he's very consistent in this answer :)) He's fun to have around even without all the features. The seller was helpful in making sure it wasn't some error I was making and was considerate and helpful about my concerns, he also came very quickly and was shipped in good shipping boxes and properly protected from shipping damage.
"115 phrases" ??? - one week and we are still on the page.
He also does a couple of gestures with lightsaber and cane.
So it is a nice toy for the first 15 minutes, but do you want to spend Cad150 and weeks trying to hear from Yoda another couple of new phrases?
