    This is an awesome add on for our 1999 3/4 ton truck! We have one in our 1999 1 ton Dodge and they are so convenient.This one mounts to the center console.Simply open the top of the console and fit the cup holder over the front of the console centering the center cutout over the latch pin. Because of the thickness of the cupholder you will need to adjust the latch pin. Take a pair of pliers and simply turn to the left or counter clockwise to loosen and bring the pin upwards more. (it did take some force, but again the truck is a 1999) We had to loosen it quite a few turns to get it just right. The top console closes and latches perfectly. You will need to push firmly to latch it closed.The material of this cupholder is a very heavy molded plastic material. Not at all flimsy and black glossy in color. Mine has some surface scratches but it's ok...it's for my truck.You have room for 2 cups and the slot we use for a cellphone holder, or sometimes my husband will put his wallet in there to get it out of his back pocket while driving. Also when you open the console lid you still have access to your change holder that is built into the console from the factory.I added some photo's so you can see how this mounts and looks. I actually like this cupholder better than the one I bought for my 1 ton years ago. It's heavier material. Very impressed.I bought this item full price.     Made really well, thick plastic. This is the most functional mod I've done to my truck. Installs in about 3 seconds, super easy. The center console won't latch with this in place, as this adds some height around the latch and it just won't press down far enough. I may try shaving it down a hair with a Dremel or something and see if I can get it to latch, but otherwise it closes just fine, but not latched. The only time it would be a problem I guess is if you put the armrest up, then maybe the door of the console would fall open, but I always leave my console down so it's not a big deal. The cupholders are huge. A styrofoam cup of coffee completely disappears inside. :)

    I just installed mine, and so far I'm happy with it. It fits like a glove, seems pretty sturdy (the plastic is pretty thick), and just like the product description, it holds my phone in place.

    As far as holding a bottle of water, that is a no brainer, but I haven't tried to fit things like a polar pop in there yet so I'll update later on. Overall, I'm quite happy with it. If it had color match options, it would look like it's an OEM part until you open the center console, then you can see it's aftermarket... not built into the center console. It has a cutout for the spare change slots and the pocket inside the center console as well.

    In order to close the lid on the center console after installation, just turn the metal shaft (kinda looks like a bullet) on the base of the center console counter clockwise (left) with some pliers and adjust accordingly. Keep in mind that your truck is old, so that metal shaft might require a little torque on it like mine did.

    I saw a question on here asking if it'll fit a 98.5 ram. For reference, the build date on my Ram is January 1998, so it'll fit 98 models even though the description says 99-01.

    Little disappointed in this, not going to lie. Works great, fits well and looks really nice in my 99 Quad Cab. If you take pliers and twist the latch pin out a few turns you can even get the console lid to latch closed which is a bonus. But it DOESN'T FIT ENERGY DRINK CANS! That's basically what I use my cup holders for, besides a place to throw my phone, and the standard diameter 12 or 16oz cans don't sit well inside. They wobble side to side a lot because they aren't allowed to sit flush on the bottom. To me, this is a massive downside to this particular console and I will probably end up returning it and trying one that is twice as much. I realize that there is a trade off with cup holders fitting different sized drink cups and cans, and It fits a gas station 44oz style fairly well, but when it doesn't hold a standard diameter can, it is of little use for me. Just something to keep in mind.
