I don't use my AeroPress on a daily basis at home, but I carry it when I travel. Recently I was staying in a rental condo and, of course, had my coffee press with me. One morning I started to make my coffee and discovered, to my dismay, that I had accidentally thrown this part away the previous day! AAAGGH! (The trash was long gone, no digging through a trash can to find it). This part is vital for using the press. I went online and ordered this replacement immediately. No more coffee on my trip, but when I got the part, it fits perfectly. I was thrilled to find that I could get replacement parts and didn't have to replace the whole AeroPress. If this is what you need, it will do the job.

The only problem I've had with this, and it may be inherent in the design, is that the cap is very hard to remove when it's hot. At first I thought the force required was related to the coffee grounds getting forced into the crevices, so I initially used a rubber oil filter wrench (!) to remove it. Later I noticed that once it has cooled off, the cap comes off easily. So now I think it's that the plastic used in the cap expands at a faster rate than the cylinder thing it locks into.

So my only advice is to set the whole unit on a plate for a few minutes after pressing the coffee before trying to remove the cap.
