Product Description

IMPORTANT !!!

Before using this trap for the first time, we recommend watching a video tutorial on how to easily set up the made2catch rat trap. You can find the video on this product page.

Choose the right size of the trap carefully - larger trap is intended for rat sized animals and smaller trap is intended for mouse sized animals

  • Don't use larger trap for mouse sized animals because of the mouse is not strong enough and has not enough weight to activate the trap. It will probably eat the bait without activating the trap.
  • Don't use smaller trap for rat sized animals because of the rat is too big for the smaller trap to kill it. If the rat is not injured when activating the trap, it can return and eat the bait from deactivated trap.

krysa,pozinkovaná

Tips & Tricks:

  • The trap is still set and bait is gone > Try to use a solid type of bait and tie up this bait using threads to pedal. There are two small holes for this purpose. Then rat must put much more effort to acquire the bait and trap will be activated.
  • The trap was tripped and bait is gone > It seems that the trap was too sensitive and the trap was premature activated. In this case we recommend use lower sensitivity. See attached manual. If you also use a solid type of bait tied to pedal then you will increase the chances to trap rat.
  • Cought rat escaped with the trap > In order to prevent this use holes in platform of trap for nailing or screwing to the base.

Choose the right trap

Will trap, but not kill
I got a rat the first day I received these and set all four up in our backyard, where there are rat activities. It is August and we have the windows open. In the middle of night I was wakened up by a quite a commotion outside: the sound of a rat screeching in desperation, and the sound the trap moving on and hitting the concrete patio repeatedly. I was quite certain I caught a rat. It lasted five minutes and I finally decided to get up to kill the rat to end its misery.Using a flashlight, I saw a rat caught by its neck in the trap. His front legs were not caught, which was why he could still struggle quite a bit. His eyes were wide open and he was breathing rapidly with his belly going up and down. The trap does not have the strength to kill the rat. The rat was just trapped, literally.I cannot care less about a rat. Still, I don't want to make an intelligent mammal suffer unnecessarily. So I found a garden pruner with two-foot-long arms, and cut the rat almost by half. There was blood on the pruner, and I saw blood came out of the rat. It thrashed a little more convulsively. I went back into the house, knowing it would be dead soon, but not wanting to see the final moments.I did not fall asleep for the next hour, and did not sleep well for the rest of the night. In fact, the whole family was awakened by the commotion and my going in and out of the house. They did not sleep well either. So here is my assessment of this trap. It is effective in trapping. It seems it will last a long while. It will not poison the rat and then poison other creatures (owl, cat, etc., we have magnificent looking owls around here), which is very important. Nevertheless, it will trap, but not kill a rat in a timely fashion. The rat, once trapped, will struggle quite a while, and may need your intervention to euthanize.I give it four start instead of five because I had to get up in the middle of night, kill the rat with a pruner, see the blood coming out and all other gory details, and could not sleep well afterwards. But, if you care at all about other creatures out there, buy these instead of poison!Update: 8/17/2016These traps got tripped a couple of times each day in the past few days, but nothing is caught. Out of curiosity, I set up an infrared camera to see what tripped the traps. I suspected raccoons. Nope, it is rats. They trip the trap without being caught, and sometimes they left behind furs pulled off when they wiggle their way free after being caught. They have become very very cautious around the traps. I saw them circling the trap, drawn to the peanut butter there, but eventually leave. They are fast learners. So I'm reducing the rating to three stars. These traps are not powerful enough to kill instantly!!update 8/20/2016I've given up on using these traps. They consistently trip but not catching anything, and the peanut butter will be all gone. So they have effectively become rat feeding stations, and I refuse to further feed the rats! I really wanted these traps to work, but am disappointed.

I had bought wooden one's and they broke after one use, so I decided to go with something sturdier & these work great!! We live by the river and in the spring the big rats come up and get under the house and tear stuff up. I recommend getting some pee pads if you are using these in the house because when it snaps them it SNAPS THEM & they start bleeding immediately because it kills them so quick. Don't put these were kids or pets could get them because it will definitely break something. Also, we've killed most of ours on sour straw candy of all things. 🤣 They are also really loud when they snap so you'll be able to hear it if you're close. Be careful with your fingers lol So it's definitely worth it!!!

I believe these are the finest rat traps on the market, and I am really happy I found these after an exhaustive search. Most rat traps on the market are just cheap trash, but this one is different. For 100 years mouse and rat traps have used the same old antiquated trigger design -- a trigger where you hook the set wire on the side of the trigger. One of two things would always happen, they would take too much pressure to trip, or they would trip too easily and injure your hand as you tried to set them. The plastic traps design is even worse.

These are beautifully designed. The set wire slips through a hole in the food trigger. It holds securely but needs very little pressure to trip. I caught a rat every night for three nights until I closed the roof entry where they were getting into my attic. These traps are very light weight, so to prevent the rat from running off with your trap, one should secure them with a string, or a screw. The trap already has drilled holes for either option.

These work. Setting these is straightforward and the design is its own reminder to be careful! They are pricier than the standard wooden traps and, if you are willing to reuse them, they are sturdy enough to kill rats over and over again. Can be cleaned after splattering a pest. Together, this makes for a good value.
