I have to guess that the reason that I didn't have the same great experience with these as have others has to do with which toes I was needing to keep separated. These did not work well at all for in between my little toe and the toe next to it - perhaps because when you walk the space between those two toes is the one that has the most movement and play? (I'm just guessing here, I honestly don't know.)

And, of course, that is the smallest area, and that means that even the 'small' size separator is pretty big - not necessarily in thickness, but in terms of how the edges stick out in front of and above your toes. (Actually if you look at the vendor's picture in this listing, you can see exactly what I'm talking about if you look at the one by the little toe.)

I have found that these work *much* better for me, for the little toe, because they are made *specifically for* the little toe:  2pcs Silicone Last Toe Shield . Plus, they are much more stable, and while they look weird, they are very comfortable, and also the least cumbersome. They also happen to be less than a quarter of the price of these ones. ;-)
