ABOUT SOG
Our story begins in Vietnam, where members of a highly classified US special ops unit - known as MACV-SOG - carried a unique combat knife into the jungle on covert missions.
Years later, in 1986, that knife inspired a young designer, named Spencer Frazer, to found SOG Specialty Knives.
His mission: to reproduce the original SOG Bowie knife and pay tribute to the special ops unit that created it.
What began as a single commemorative model soon became a full line of innovative tools - field-proven by US Special Forces, even honored as the Navy SEAL knife of choice.
Today, SOG knives are carried with confidence into the most demanding situations. Forged out of tradition, hardened in the field, honed for you.
So whether you're protecting others or leading an epic hunting expedition, tackling one of life's everyday challenges or facing your most extreme conditions yet, lead the way with SOG.

So, a little backgrpund on what i use it for:
I work as a robotics technician so i work in a very large factory. This thing honestly saves me a a trip to my toolbox almost every day. Its held up well over a year already to daily use. The tools it has are perfect for my jobsite, none of the fat, like a saw i wont use, or a fish scaler. it has an awesome variety of screwdrivers (the jewelry flathead is a lifesaver), a file that gets used on aluminum molds at least a couple times a week, and good quality shear style cutters on the pliers. I will say that, obviously to keep it slim and lightweight, it feels a little less durable then something you would want to torque down full force on the pliers, but ive never broken it so maybe its just me. considering how well its held up i do think its very sturdy, and it does have a lifetime warranty so im not too worried. The only real reason i pick a wave+ as my daily carry instead is because of the scissors and the matte black option. But in my opinion, this tool is perfect as is.

The main factor of choosing this multi tool over others is the size and weight. I have a few Leathermans and a Gerber also but they just don’t quite fit what I’m looking for. Don’t get me wrong, the Leathermans are excellent quality as well but heavier and bulkier in comparison. I started off with the Leatherman OHT and found that it was just too big to comfortably keep in my pocket along with keys, etc. I then purchased the Gerber MP600 since it was on sale and realized it’s just as long as the OHT but the quality was lacking, the tool itself rattles and just doesn’t have a solid feel to it. Since then I’ve purchased the Leatherman Wingman which is what I’ve been using and it’s a good quality tool in a compact size.
What interested me in this Sog PowerAccess is the lighter weight along with unique features such as the magnetic hex bit holder and tools accessible from the outside of the handles. So far I’m impressed with it, the quality definitely tops the Gerber and reminds me of how solid the Leatherman feels. It’s the lightest and slimmest of the multi tools I’ve mentioned, features a good set of tools and is pretty well thought out with having the tools accessible from the outside. The only thing I could possibly ask for is having the pliers spring loaded. But other than that I couldn’t be happier.

I was intrigued by the compound leverage system, so I decided to give it a try. Overall, I really like this multitool. The belt clip was a big factor for me, however I discovered that this one is quite cheap and I broke it within a few months.
This tool is by far a pliers first multitool. The pliers are fantastic, and the compound leverage system is no joke. On the other side the rest of the tools are average to slightly sub par. It is also a light duty multitool and is slightly flimsy. It excells in doing small jobs around the house, but that's about it.
If you are looking for a great all-round medium size multitool I would have to recommend the Leatherman sidekick/wingman for all-round quality, but if the pliers are most important to you, I would highly recommend the PowerAccess.
After I broke the clip on this one, I went back to the drawing board and started my research all over again. I looked at Leatherman, Gerber, Victorinox and yet i still found my way back to SOG mainly due to the amazing compimd leverage system. The pliers are amazing and what I use most in a multitool. I decided this time to go to the Powerlock and have been very impressed thus far. The Powerlock is a full size multitool which is very evident in the weight. It weighs 9.6oz and is hefty. However, everything that I didn't like about the PowerAccess was fixed in the Powerlock.
In Conclusion, the Poweraccess is a great multitool for light-duty activities.

Each tool pulls out easy, locks tight, and is easy to return to place. Folds great, gears aren't too loose or tight, fits well in pocket w/ clip. Decided not to get the belt carry, not upset about this although if you're hiking/hunting etc you might want the case.
