I bought this to us with my Yaesu FTM-400DR in my Chrysler 200s. I could not find anywhere on the firewall to run wires directly to the battery which is what I would prefer to do since the Chrysler 200s is so dependant on its computer modules. It works great since all my radios are set up with power pole connectors. The FTM-400DR does not draw too many amps for it even on high power and long winded QSO's. The added convenience of being able to quickly move my radio from one vehicle to the other without having to be a contortionist trying to run wires through the firewall is a big plus. For quite some time I went without my 2 meter rig in my car because of lack of wiring options. For those wondering about noise from the alternator, I haven't had a problem in either my CHrysler 200 or our Town and Country. 73 KC3EKL

I purchased this to supplement my portable power options. My initial impression is it is constructed well. I typically use 12 gauge copper wire for any device 12VDC power connectors and did not want to purchase the typical lighter plug with a 16 gauge wire pigtail and Powerpole connectors.

I clearly got a used-returned rig. Not only that, there was no replacement fuse included. Also no paperwork.
I think this will be going back.

So let's get this out of the way, this product is not the best way to hook up power to a mobile radio. However, it is extremely convenient for that purpose. I've been using this with my mobile rig until I get the rest of my project parts in to do a permanent install. It is capable at providing the 50 watts my radio requires on high power, but I am not sure this would be great for anything higher than that. The biggest problem is how tightly it fits into the 12v adapters it's built for. It's pretty common for this to get bumped, and it will lose connection and shut down the radio. For anyone looking for a convenient setup for a mobile rig I think this is the right product for temporary purposes only. This would be great for a rental car but if you want to use your radio full time, invest the time and effort in connecting directly to the battery.
