Product Description
Official Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot
Pop-A-Shot, which created the arcade basketball game, introduces its revolutionary and fully interactive Home Dual Shot. Constructed from high-grade 1 ½” steel tubing powder-coated to reduce rusting, extra-thick backboard and durable nylon ramp, the Home Dual Shot can withstand years of frequent use. Our rims are now stronger than ever, and the revised sensor placement improves accuracy. An easily accessible panel controls the 16 different games and 6 audio options, providing almost limitless choices for years of fun play.
16 Different Games + 6 Audio Options
The Home Dual Shot arcade basketball game features more games to choose from—a total of 16, from the classic 1-on-1 :30 game to longer direct competitions and individual skill challenges (skeet shooting and beat the clock). There are also 6 different audio options, including an announcer who calls the game (“That’s a 3!”; “En fuego!”), sound effects (crowd noise and basket “swishes”) and 3 different music selections. The limitless options will provide interactive action for hours.
Large LED Scoreboard & Easy Accessible Control Panel
A large, three-digit scoreboard is paired with a proprietary Infrared optical sensor scoring system that correctly registers 98% of shots. There also an audio jack to plug in external speakers (not included). And a well-integrated control panel, with Pop-A-Shot balls for buttons, is attached to the game’s front bar. The easily accessible is used to turn on and begin games, change audio selections and choose games. A handy “cheat sheet,” with all of the game and audio options listed, dangles from the control panel cord.
Durable Construction & Easy Storage
Made from sturdy 1 ½” steel tubes with a powder coating to eliminate rusting and chipping and a thick nylon ramp, the Home Dual Shot can withstand continual use for years. The frame and backboard are much thicker and sturdier than those of most other arcade basketball games. The game’s height can be customized for different-sized ceilings and individual users. When not in use, the game can be folded to 37” deep (from 88”) and easily moved using the wheels, unique to the Home Dual Shot.

Assembly was fairly easy - one recommendation I have is to have a 10 mm box wrench available, it'll make holding all the nuts easier. The supplied Allen wrench works fine, though I used one from my bike tool to get a little more leverage & save my fingers some abuse. Use your own full-sized phillips head screwdriver for the few screws that need that tool. Instructions were pretty clear; the only part I messed up was that I put the net/ramp on upside down, which we fixed the following day. There are black tabs on the net for the control module wire to pass through, and they should be on the right side as you look at the rim from the shooting area. Fully assembled, it is sturdy yet easy to move - the wheels also lock to prevent it from moving around when shooters "lean in". With a few interruptions, I took my time and got it together in 3 hrs, all-in. Helps to have a partner when hanging the backboard.
No electrical outlets nearby? No problem! Can run on AA batteries or be plugged in. Shuts itself off after a period of inactivity.
Great quality, good value, tons of fun. We're very happy with this purchase.
Is it a challenge to assemble? In a sense, yes, but I mean "challenge" in the positive sense. It took me 2-3 hours, but (a) I'm very far from a "handy" person, and (b) now that I've done it once I could probably do it again in half the time. Having done it, I feel pretty good about myself. ;-)
If you're feeling nervous, just google a home assembly video (they're easy to find) and keep pausing and playing it throughout your process:
You don't absolutely need any tools besides the included throw-away Allen wrench and other mini wrench, but I found it easier to have a pair of adjustable pliers or wrench for the purposes of bolt-tightening. Some people have used electric wrenches, but I don't think that that's necessary. You don't need to over-tighten the things.
I would put all of the bolts and screws in a big bowl or pyrex dish so that you 100% for sure don't lose any. At the very end I was missing one bolt and was stymied, until I found it under a table; it's easy to drop them while assembling the unit. Save yourself the worry and make certain to keep them all in one place.
Let me address the issue of height/ clearance. My basement ceiling is 87", or 7 feet 3 inches. That's pretty low. Yet the Pop-a-Shot fits (using none of the height-increasing tubes) and we can play the game pretty well.
IMPORTANT: My son and I are each 5'9". If either of us was 6 feet or taller, that might have made things a little tougher with my low ceiling. But as it is, we can play fine. Yes, we have to adjust our shot to take off much of the arc, but that's just the way it goes if you have a low ceiling.
If I had an 8 foot ceiling that would have been better, and I still would have used the lowest assembly setting (no height-increasing tubes) so that players could shoot with a little arc. But again: it still works with my 87" ceiling and with no one taller than 5'9". If you are taller and you still only have 87", you will probably have to bend a bit and take even more arc off your shot. If you have somewhat higher ceilings, you will be in even better shape.
tl;dr version: You can make Pop-a-Shot work with only a little over 7 foot ceilings, but if you do you will have to make your shot more level and you will sometimes hit the ceiling. Just know that in advance.
The scoring mechanisms work well. I've read on some of the less-expensive brands that the scoring mechanisms can miscount. Pop-a-Shot has a sensor above and below each rim, so the shot only counts if it really does go all the way through rather than just bounding off the rim (as some customers say happens on other brands of home hoop arcades). To me, that alone makes Pop-a-Shot worth the extra money, especially given that I hope to use this game for years and thus it's only a small amount extra per year, when amortized.
I'd recommend this game to anyone with the space. I like to see my kids playing together and working up a little bit of a sweat (when they shoot for 30 minutes at a time) as opposed to simply playing video games on a console/tv or on a phone.
First off, I bought this for my 10 year old niece (she is obsessed with basketball) because she wanted it so bad. I set it up in our basement which has a 7' 9" ceiling. The middle height adjustment was perfect. We almost could have went to the highest setting if I had a couple more inches to work with. But we like it just fine where it's at.
We have had this just a few days, and it has been used for hours! I'm 42 and enjoying this very much. But with 6 kids in the house (between the ages of 10 and 18) it is getting used several times a day. Everyone loves it! It even gives you more exercise than you would think. The kids complain that they are hot and their arms hurt from playing so much haha. Hey, anything that compels these young ones to put down their phones and go compete in some physical activity is definitely a win!
Besides the physical quality of the product itself, I'm also pleased with the mechanics. I've been watching the scoring accuracy very carefully while the kids play. I agree that the sensors seem to be working at least 98% percent of the time. Probably better, because I have only witnessed twice that a score was not counted. And that's after hundreds of shots!
So now, I have to tell you one of my favorite parts... the announcer! The kids agree with me that "he" makes this game so much fun! The music is also quite good. Not just a cheesy multi-tone sound, but real music! The built in speaker is of better quality than most games I've purchased, but I love that fact that there is a aux jack on the back to plug in a better, external speaker. I did this and it sounds amazing!
Also, the announcer had quite a large vocabulary. Yes, you do hear the same phrases quite a bit, but there are many of them. And even after hours of play, new ones we haven't heard come up. He gives both encouraging comments and gives some sarcastic, humorous comments too. I won't spoil the fun by quoting his comments here, but he is entertaining and adds to the entire experience.
The 10 games also keep this game from getting too repetitive. The kids love to switch it up all the time. The "cheat sheet" is very handy too because it is attached next to the control board and it gives an explanation of all the games.
This has been one of the best entertainment investments we've ever made and it's an awesome compliment to our game room!
P.S. The fact that it easily lifts and folds up, allowed us to place it by our pool table so it does not get in our way at all.

We never expected us adults to enjoy Pop-a-Shot so much. It's just as fun as it is in the arcades, with the added convenience of having this at home. It comes with 15 different modes to make this challenging and fun.
Installation
- Videos on their site may not match your specific model or product iteration. However the manual is straightforward to follow and quite frankly there was only one catch in the whole process. This is mostly a one person job, but having a second person for a few keys steps makes it easy to balance the frame.
- CATCH: As mundane as it seems, be sure the net is installed the right way or it will obstruct the sensor that counts points that is directly below the rim. We found about this as one of the sensors was not counting correctly.
As in my picture when looked at from the front, you must have a clear and unobstructed view of the sensor (notice the larger whole in the net). This is specified in the installation manual, but we feel a warning box would be handy so that people know there's a functional reason why aligning the net the right way is important. Perhaps even a sticker placed on the net and net bracket that goes with it for alignment, would make this even more fool proof. Willing to bet there's at least a few people calling support every day for a faulty sensor, when in reality the solution is straightforward if you know what you're doing.
- The structure is adjustable to ceilings of varying height. We have standard 8ft ceilings in the basement, and were able to use one set of extenders. That fits our use perfectly and find the height perfect for game play. The frame includes an additional set of extenders if you have taller ceilings.
- You can either have the gameboard use batteries or have it plugged in as we do for added convenience.
Operation:
- Smooth, just works, counters are 100% accurate. Be aware that when you are granted bonus time or in certain game modes, the other person hoops may not be counted. This is by design. You may have been given bonus time, the other person may have not got to the minimum score to get that.
Sturdiness
- Looks and feel sturdy, even withstanding kid abuse slamming the ball as hard as they can against the board, and an 8 year old climbing the ball ramp on a few occasions.
Value
- Amazing value, as stay-at-home workers, my wife and I challenge each other at least once a day to go downstairs and play a couple of games. Gets the heart pumping, and gets us exercising and having fun together. And trust me, from someone who runs in the summer and lifts weights, throwing hoops rapidly is a good workout and I feel my heartbeat increase every single time, play for more than 3-5 minutes and you'll break sweat. It just feels like a cheat code to exercise, having fun and not ever having to leave the house which comes in handy during the winter months.
Best for
- Couples or families with kids 8+ years old.
- People living in places with long winters, or excruciatingly hot summers who may want to remain active without leaving the house.
Sorry got to go and throw some hoops rightaway, I'm trying to get to 100 points in game mode 1.....love it.

Sorry got to go and throw some hoops rightaway, I'm trying to get to 100 points in game mode 1.....love it.
Now, my 3 kids and I put this together in about 2hrs, the build is NOT hard... we just followed the instructions, I don't really understand the other reviews say implying that is a tough build. The only thing I would recommend is, use your own tools. The tools provided are NOT high quality, grab your drill with a socket and allen key driver. Some reviews say it falls apart after a few games??? NOT TRUE.
The build quality is top notch, we are hard on this thing, like bombing a shotgun shot from halfway up the stairs and 20 feet away. Its going to last for years to come.... honestly I can tell!.
Now the best thing really is the customer support. My scoreboard had a issue with one part of the light bar not showing ( very small issue, and we could still play, but had to look twice to see exactly what the score was). Anyway, I contacted Pop a shot, and they got back to me within 2 days. Then sent me a new scoreboard and 2 sensors.... completely free.
Now that is the biggest reason to buy this alone; knowing if something goes wrong, it will be taken care of asap and FREE. Thank you Pop a shot..... Class act!
*****EDIT, 1year later review******
Happy to report, nothing has broken on this thing, and it gets daily abuse!
I highly recommend it, and would 100% buy it again.
