Instructions are absolute GARBAGE

Instructions are absolute GARBAGE
This took me quite a few hours to put together - over the course of a day basically, all because of the ridiculous instructions. So that’s why I took off 1 Star. The how-to video they give you access to was much more helpful. Honestly, if you just follow that you’ll be fine.I did notice between both the paper instructions and the how-to video that they really seem to be geared towards some other version than the pop-a-shot I actually ordered. Perhaps an older version they used to sell. I’m not sure. I’m wondering if maybe this is why so many ppl in the comments had so much trouble putting this thing together. I know some folks really had missing pieces but in my case I kept THINKING I had pieces missing simply because the instructions were not for my specific product. Why not just match the instructions to the version each customer orders??? Is that too costly or time consuming?Anyway, I actually put this thing together on my own - scoreboard and all. My husband was supposed to help but he didn’t have much time between work days and it kept getting put on the back burner. I was pretty anxious to get this thing set up so I could play so I said screw it and started setting it up on my own.The scoreboard is heavy, yes. But it really isn’t that hard to get it attached if you have enough room to lay the entire structure down flat, while being very steady (careful, because it’s heavy so if you don’t have the strength to do this, you risk letting it fall which I imagine would cause some serious problems). If you have something sturdy to prop underneath it while you get the scoreboard screwed in, even better. I pretty much just sat half way underneath the zone I needed to attach the board to with just enough room to sort or prop it up with my leg while I got everything screwed in. Took maybe 5-10 minutes. Then I carefully lifted the structure back up.I had this thing in one room (sort of my home office/game room) but eventually decided it should go in the living room. I know a lot of ppl said to be careful about where you set this thing up because it’s so difficult putting it together in the first place and that once it’s in place......that’s a wrap. But like I said, the terrible instructions really make this seem like a harder job than it ever needed to be. Once you get the hang of this setup, it’s pretty easy to disassemble and reassemble, if you feel like dealing with it. So I broke it down into a few parts. I kept the scoreboard, net & ball return all attached (just folded it up) and just removed a few of the bars in key places so I could get it through the door way. Moved the parts to my living room and had this thing back up in 15 minutes. All together it took me about 30-40 minutes to break it down, move it and set it up again. Tip: I had a little trouble getting one section down a specific hallway in my house until I locked the wheels in place, since the wheel locks extend out a bit while in the unlocked position. The little bit of room that gave me was the exact amount I needed to maneuver it around the corner and down the hallway. The other sections were easy to move.Aside from the assembly problems which again, could easily be resolved by updating the instruction guide (and maybe adding better quality diagrams), the game itself is AMAZING. I’ve found it to be accurate. I like the little game/music options and you can adjust the sound. I’ve had zero issues and have played the heck out of this thing nearly every day I’ve had it which has been a little over 1 week now. Folds up nicely, so huge space saver there. My husband and I have enjoyed trying to 1up each other’s high score. Lol. Worth the money for all the fun you and your family will have.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT, EXCEPTIONAL FUN!!
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2018
I can't think of a better word than "exceptional"! From the product reviews, I was convinced this would be a quality product, and indeed it is. But as much as I read about how fun this would be, I knew that would be an individual experience that I would have to wait and discover myself.

First off, I bought this for my 10 year old niece (she is obsessed with basketball) because she wanted it so bad. I set it up in our basement which has a 7' 9" ceiling. The middle height adjustment was perfect. We almost could have went to the highest setting if I had a couple more inches to work with. But we like it just fine where it's at.

We have had this just a few days, and it has been used for hours! I'm 42 and enjoying this very much. But with 6 kids in the house (between the ages of 10 and 18) it is getting used several times a day. Everyone loves it! It even gives you more exercise than you would think. The kids complain that they are hot and their arms hurt from playing so much haha. Hey, anything that compels these young ones to put down their phones and go compete in some physical activity is definitely a win!

Besides the physical quality of the product itself, I'm also pleased with the mechanics. I've been watching the scoring accuracy very carefully while the kids play. I agree that the sensors seem to be working at least 98% percent of the time. Probably better, because I have only witnessed twice that a score was not counted. And that's after hundreds of shots!

So now, I have to tell you one of my favorite parts... the announcer! The kids agree with me that "he" makes this game so much fun! The music is also quite good. Not just a cheesy multi-tone sound, but real music! The built in speaker is of better quality than most games I've purchased, but I love that fact that there is a aux jack on the back to plug in a better, external speaker. I did this and it sounds amazing!

Also, the announcer had quite a large vocabulary. Yes, you do hear the same phrases quite a bit, but there are many of them. And even after hours of play, new ones we haven't heard come up. He gives both encouraging comments and gives some sarcastic, humorous comments too. I won't spoil the fun by quoting his comments here, but he is entertaining and adds to the entire experience.

The 10 games also keep this game from getting too repetitive. The kids love to switch it up all the time. The "cheat sheet" is very handy too because it is attached next to the control board and it gives an explanation of all the games.

This has been one of the best entertainment investments we've ever made and it's an awesome compliment to our game room!

P.S. The fact that it easily lifts and folds up, allowed us to place it by our pool table so it does not get in our way at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars We thought the kids would have fun
Reviewed in Canada on February 1, 2024
We thought the kids would have fun throwing hoops and at least that way they would be away from the screen a few minutes everyday.

We never expected us adults to enjoy Pop-a-Shot so much. It's just as fun as it is in the arcades, with the added convenience of having this at home. It comes with 15 different modes to make this challenging and fun.

Installation
- Videos on their site may not match your specific model or product iteration. However the manual is straightforward to follow and quite frankly there was only one catch in the whole process. This is mostly a one person job, but having a second person for a few keys steps makes it easy to balance the frame.
- CATCH: As mundane as it seems, be sure the net is installed the right way or it will obstruct the sensor that counts points that is directly below the rim. We found about this as one of the sensors was not counting correctly.

As in my picture when looked at from the front, you must have a clear and unobstructed view of the sensor (notice the larger whole in the net). This is specified in the installation manual, but we feel a warning box would be handy so that people know there's a functional reason why aligning the net the right way is important. Perhaps even a sticker placed on the net and net bracket that goes with it for alignment, would make this even more fool proof. Willing to bet there's at least a few people calling support every day for a faulty sensor, when in reality the solution is straightforward if you know what you're doing.

- The structure is adjustable to ceilings of varying height. We have standard 8ft ceilings in the basement, and were able to use one set of extenders. That fits our use perfectly and find the height perfect for game play. The frame includes an additional set of extenders if you have taller ceilings.

- You can either have the gameboard use batteries or have it plugged in as we do for added convenience.

Operation:
- Smooth, just works, counters are 100% accurate. Be aware that when you are granted bonus time or in certain game modes, the other person hoops may not be counted. This is by design. You may have been given bonus time, the other person may have not got to the minimum score to get that.

Sturdiness
- Looks and feel sturdy, even withstanding kid abuse slamming the ball as hard as they can against the board, and an 8 year old climbing the ball ramp on a few occasions.

Value
- Amazing value, as stay-at-home workers, my wife and I challenge each other at least once a day to go downstairs and play a couple of games. Gets the heart pumping, and gets us exercising and having fun together. And trust me, from someone who runs in the summer and lifts weights, throwing hoops rapidly is a good workout and I feel my heartbeat increase every single time, play for more than 3-5 minutes and you'll break sweat. It just feels like a cheat code to exercise, having fun and not ever having to leave the house which comes in handy during the winter months.

Best for
- Couples or families with kids 8+ years old.
- People living in places with long winters, or excruciatingly hot summers who may want to remain active without leaving the house.

Sorry got to go and throw some hoops rightaway, I'm trying to get to 100 points in game mode 1.....love it.
