I titled this "A Vitruvian (Wonder) Woman", because that is what Lynda Carter's portrayal of the character is - a perfectly unattainable perfect woman. Also, she (Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman) has the most perfect female dimensions, reminiscent of Leonardo De Vinci's "Vitruvian Man". This was my idea, as I tried to pose her.
I will not go into details about the accessories that came with the figure, or it's deficiencies, other reviewers have already done that. The way I chose to pose this figure is without enhancements, or mods. Let's be honest. Chances are - you are an adult, aren't you? You are thinking of buying this for yourself, because you remembered loving the show, or the character as portrayed by Lynda Carter. If you are a kid, you may be more inclined to appreciate the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, which is appropriate for this day and age. I like how they are FINALLY exploiting her Greek heritage. No. Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman is from a different time, with different sensibilities.
Some have commented how much this figure really looks like her. Realistically, it's close. But, come on. It's a $20 toy, not even a polystone statue. However, for the price, you DEFINITELY will get your moneies worth. Just take a look at my pictures. This figure is very well designed and GORGEOUS!
I did tried to put her in the "Vitruvian" pose, but it does not show off the womanly curves that I know this figure is capable. After all, as the figure is modeled after Lynda Carter herself, the proportions are PERFECT. Being "only" a fairly tall woman at about 5 foot, 10 inches, she actually looks much taller, due to her really long legs. Her torso is actually really tiny. This woman is ALL pelvis and legs!! And, the figure reflects that. Ultimately, I kept her legs down, with her arms up, leaving the original "fists" accessory and not use the "opened palm" hands that also came with the figure.
I did not think the cape was poseable, when attached to the figure; being a relatively crisp material, it looked like a tent when it is place on her. Go see the pictures for yourself. See what mean? So, instead, I tied the cape onto the clear plastic mount, which supposedly allows her to float or allow the figure to be displayed in a "flight" pose. Her legs do NOT touch the base when attached to this curved pole. The ends of the cape is then taped to the back side of my book case's upper shelf, so it stays up. I then attached the figure to the display pole, in front of the cape, with her arms up. She now looks like she's holding up her cape, while floating in space.
To give her more of a feminine curve (as best that a piece of plastic can be) I lifted her right leg forward, and bent the knee. The figure has so many points of movement that I am VERY impressed. The left leg is pushed back a bit at the pelvic joint, so from a distance she shows off her rounded full hips, narrowing down to her knees, and finally down to her small feet. The right foot is bent all the way down (tip toe) to give her legs an even longer look. The left leg is left at a more natural walking position, as Humans rarely ever position their bodies at perfect symmetry, even a Wonder Woman.
A NOTE of caution, the cape is taped to the clear plastic carton. BE VERY CAREFUL. SLOWING REMOVE THE TAPE FROM THE CAPE. This fabric is so crisp, it is like paper. One slight bent and you will crease the cape. I made that mistake, and now have to buy a fourth figure, so I can get a pristine cape. But, that's okay. This product is worth it. GOOD JOB!
The late 1970s saw an emergence of comic book superheroes in the entertainment industry, with Wonder Woman being one of the many popular characters in DC’s amazing collection of heroes. Naturally, the story would become a TV show that took some time in the making but ended up being a success. Great storytelling, splendid action, and adventure as well as a beautiful and charismatic actress in Lynda Carter. Loved but regarded as campy but it was the 1970s, what wasn’t campy? I certainly enjoyed watching the reruns in preparation for a possible film adaptation and am more than happy to have seen it. So much so that I wanted this figure.
This figure resembles the main costume that the character wore for the three seasons of the show. There were alternate outfits as well as outfits that fit her alter ego but this is all that is needed. The detail on the figure is amazing, from Lynda Carter’s figure, beautiful face, hair, crown, the symbol on her chest, the starry trunks, boots, gauntlets to the lasso on her hip. But there is some difficulty in moving the head as well as this being pressed and packaged with stiff limbs. The figure stands at 6.50 inches with great articulation, most female DC Comic figures do not have an ab crunch but this one does. There are no accessories except the DC Signature Collection stand and the removable cape.
A great figure, one that I’m glad to have.
