Great used case! Premium leather.
5 Stars
Great used case! Premium leather.
I purchased this case USED for $30. It is awesome!!I would never pay $60 for it new though! It came in good condition with a few minor scratches and scuffs... but it's leather. It's gonna get that way anyway with normal use. That's the beauty of leather; all the scratches, scuffs and stains just add character to it.If you want a perfectly clean case, this one is not for you. Get a plastic or fake leather case. There are plenty of cheaper options for you.I don't understand the negative reviews that say "it scratches" or "it's not the right shade of brown". Really?? It's cow hide! What do you expect? If you scuff it, the mark will actually massage out again so not many permanent marks unless they are deep scratches. The leather on this case is thick and does not feel like suede, like others have said. Obviously it's not purse or jacket thickness, otherwise it would be much too heavy! If you want a true leather case that is gonna age and build character as you use it, then buy this case USED like I did. It is much stronger and better made than the $6 plastic case I original purchased. Can't comment on durability but it seems well made. The plastic that actually hills the Kindle is thicker and stronger than the others.[Update: Durability is great. Holding up and adding beautifully.]Also, there is a magnet that holds the case open from the back so it's not flapping around when reading! The inside cover that touches the screen is a nice quality soft felt.Only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars is that it has a slight chemical smell to it. Hopefully it will fade and I will only be able to smell the rich leather smell that I love. I can smell it in the background, so I know it's there![Update: Chemical small has faded and left me with a rich leather smell. I definitely recommend this premium leather case!]

I read all the pros and cons about this product. Who would have believed an e-Reader cover could be so polarizing?!

After a couple of days of use, I am in the camp of those that find little to complain about regarding this Kindle Paperwhite leather cover.

Pros:
Leather: Genuine leather is much nicer to feel and smell than synthetic alternatives.

The leather’s surface is such that it picks up scratches, etc. from normal use. I like this feature, as the cover develops character over time. The marks are superficial - they don’t appear to degrade the structural integrity of the case.

Fit/Finish: As expected, it fits like a glove. No rough edges, and I think it feels “rich” and that it conveys quality.

Appearance: Looks great! It doesn’t appear out of place next time my wallet and briefcase I purchased from a high quality, boutique leather crafter.

Cons:
Price: I guess you could grumble about the price point. Sure, I would have liked to pay $10 less, but such is life. I don’t think it is a bargain, but based on my experience with it so far, I have no regrets and don’t feel as though I overpaid for what I received.

Color: The color IS a bit darker than the online photos, but the dark brown is rich and almost perfectly matches my wallet and briefcase. I am happy with the color.

After having read at least a hundred reviews, after much consideration, and taking the high reviews as well as the low reviews into mind, I purchased the Premium Leather case for my Kindle Paperwhite 4. I feel led to politely disagree with just about every negative review that I’ve read. I received my case today and there were NO scratches, dullness or discoloration of the leather, and the leather was is in NO way thin or “cheap” in appearance, touch, feel, or smell. These were just a couple of the complaints that I had read in the reviews before my purchase. So yeah, I did take a chance on purchasing the case because of the cost, but I want to express how happy and thankful I am that I made the purchase. This is exactly as the pictures and description by Amazon of this case, but pictures and description don’t allow you to smell that wonderful leather smell. They also don’t give you the premium feel of the leather that is real! Now my Kindle is even more of a treasure than it already was! My Kindle Paperwhite 4 is one of my most prized possessions, and now with the genuine, premium leather case on it, it is even more invaluable to me. This case, with its looks, tight fit, strong magnetic cover, and quality craftsmanship, I have to admit that I am one satisfied and thrilled customer!!

I love this leather. It is so soft and really elevates my Kindle. Thank you.

I perused the reviews before ordering, so I knew what to expect here. There’s not full coverage around the device (which I expected) and that is the reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5. I’d have liked better protection and more security for my device in the event of a drop. That said, it’s sleek and lightweight. It keeps my device really minimal in terms of footprint in my bag. Nothing that had full coverage had those same benefits... they all looked clunky AF. The real leather is a thin layer but the quality is lovely. I like that it will develop a nice patina over time. It feels nice to touch. And, unlike a lot of the PU leather covers out there, it won’t chip, degrade and disintegrate over time. Was it worth the extra $20 for the premium leather case over the regular one? Well, the regular one was kind of ugly and reviews indicated the same problems as this one + the leather feeling cheap and fake. So, I’ll say that it was worth the extra money. I’m really happy with this purchase!

Prior to buying the premium leather cover I read all the reviews and was nearly convinced not to purchase it. Thank goodness I did not listen to the naysayers. I have had my cover for a month now and can’t help but chuckle as I look back at all those that claim it was not worth the money and is prone to numerous scratches. Let’s start with whether it is worth the money: Is it premium leather as advertised, yes it is. Not just that but it is well made and is easily hand held while reading due to its tactile feel. Secondly, so many of you complained about how easily it is scratched and while I can lend some credence to that, however; it is just as easily kept scratched free by simply rubbing out the scratches with your thumb or finger. I have zero scratches on mine after reading seven books and reading on a nearly daily basis. In fact it is so easy to keep scratch free that I laugh every time I think about some of your write ups and complaints. I love this cover and if I couldn’t afford it I wouldn’t have bought it. It gets a well deserved 5 stars from me.

And a fancy leather bound edition at that! The Kindle preses in firmly and securely, no real chance of it being knocked/jarred loose, and the effect of putting the Kindle to sleep when closing the lid is nice. Being able to hold the kindle in both hands or with one like an open book is very comfortable and natural, the weight and balance is good.

When I unboxed it, I immediately, accidentally scratched the leather and my patina adventure had begun! But that is part of the product power and it looks good after a couple weeks of getting handed around, dropped on the counter/table/etc.

The Kindle was a gift intended to be used by/in the pool, so I do take it out of the leather case when I'm in the water with it. It's probably been in and out of the case 6-10 times, I haven't counted but there is no noticeable effect on the plastic component of the cover. It's also just tough enough to get out of the case to reinforce the mindset that the Kindle is firmly rooted in the case when it's in use.

I like it, would buy again, and had originally considered "maybe I should look for a waterproof one" but now that seems like a bad idea since care and handling instructions for the Kindle say that it should be wiped down/cleaned when exposed to salt/chlorine (read: pool water). I'm fairly certain I wouldn't be bothered to do that if it was in an amphibious case...
