Just got, will return. Here’s why…
I was so hoping to like these and be able to use them especially because I ordered my kid the matching ones. But I can’t wear these.• For being touted as more of a “barefoot” / minimalist type of shoe, it lacks sufficient flexibility and had a hard arch support. Neither of those belong in a barefoot style!• These shoes are flexible at the ball of the foot, but nowhere else. The arch area & heel area very hard / stiff which I found quite uncomfortable after two minutes of trying on/ walking inside my home.• They are very narrow at the center of the foot. When applying pressure like walking, my foot was a good inch over the side of the arch area! (See photos. My finger was touching the edge of the hard arch part on the shoe- the whole first third of my finger is hidden. That’s how much my foot is over the footbed. No thanks!) I don’t have super wide feet either. It seems like you’d have to have perfectly dainty feet with a high arch to fit these properly.• I had enough room in the toe box to have a natural splay (though this could be due to ordering half size bigger than I typically wear.)• The mesh material felt decent and I liked that it wasn’t too thick.Overall it didn’t feel very barefoot or minimalistic style to me. If you have narrow or average width feet and don’t care if the arch area doesn’t move, these would probably work ok.

I really like the shoes! I wear a 9.5-10, depending on the type of shoe & where I buy them. I originally bought a 10 but they were way too big, so I had to return, which was fairly easy, except I had to drive 20 min. to a UPS store or pay for a pick up. My refund came in very quickly & I got a 9.5, which fit great. There's still a bit of room at the toe but that will allow for a pair if socks, so its fine. My reason for getting a minimalist hiking shoe wasn't a barefoot feel, it was to have a lightweight shoe, so I also added an insert because I've had plantar fasciitis for a while, which makes it extremely painful to walk. I hike up to 10 miles a few times a week so that kind of sucks. As soon as I put these on the pain was almost gone & was even better with the insert. Which is wonderful, since I absolutely cannot stop hiking! I often walk on partly gravel, rough trails with lots of tree roots etc. & could feel everything through other soles which were much thicker/heavier. With these, I don't feel anything! I could've done without the M width but didn't notice that's what I was buying. I'm not sure there's even an option for anything else besides an M. Even so, it's fine, they just kind of bunch up a bit when I tighten the laces because I dont like walking in loosely tied shoes. The material is thin & they are VERY lightweight, which I love. I'd suggest socks that cover your ankles b/c I wore low ankle socks & the tongue & ankle material kind of dug into my skin a bit but I did have them tied on the tighter side. As I said, the material is thin & I hope they hold up with alot of use. The sole has a great thickness, without the weight or bulkiness of normal hiking shoes. Honestly, it felt like I had nothing on my feet when I wore them! Note that there is a noticeable arch in these shoes. I have pretty flat feet but the arch doesn't bother me. I've read reviews where others complained about it. As I said these shoes immediately took away my plantars pain, so maybe the arch helped? Either way, I love these shoes! Just wish the price wasn't more for different colors. I may pay extra for another color other than black but not sure. Overall, Im extremely happy with the puchase!

I agree with other reviewers that you should size down a half size from your normal running shoes.
I have Merrell bare arc and was very disappointed that they were discontinued. I still run in them and have had them for years. They last forever.

I have tried previous versions of the trail glove and didn’t like the fit so I wasn’t sure I would like these. Out of desperation since Merrell discontinued almost the entire line of barefoot shoes which seem to have been widely loved by a significant population, I tried the last model that is still available and have not been disappointed! They are comfortable and really fit like a glove. My toes have more room than they did in my bare arcs- so I may even be more pleased with these running shoes. I wore them to the trail for a run yesterday and they did well on rocks though the big ones still jabbed my feet. Definitely did well though. They do run a little hotter than my bare arcs which are a more breathable mesh. I’d like to wear more cushioned socks but need a very breathable sock for these.

I tried the trail glove 6 and it is hands down a crappier version of this shoe- too narrow in the toe box and the soles aren’t as nice as this model. I would love to see Merrill make a new version of this for the road again. I had the road glove and it was the best fitting shoe I ever wore. I hope the next model of the trail glove is more like this one. I’m so glad these were still available!

I absolutely live these shoes! I've spent a lifetime using minimal footwear, even before it was the trendy thing to do. I'm starting to have some arthritis however, mostly owing to genetic factors and so I've had to change up my approach in order to take stress off of my joints during impact sports. Ive always liked Merrill and tried these because they do have some arch support and a bit more protection on the bottom. I am absolutely astounded at the difference these shoes make! The relief was instant, first time I used them. My feet actually felt better after a day of sprinting than they did when I started. I ordered two more pair just to wear all the time because they support in just the right places and alleviate my pain. That said, this is still very much a barefoot shoe with all the qualities one hopes for. These have a flexible sole with fantastic ground feel, even in varied terrain. You would be hard pressed to turn an ankle in them because of the low profile and sensitivity. They are lightweight, breathable yet tough enough to take stony ground. Enough tread for traction on turf but not overdone. These are just perfect and bottom line the carefully thought out support they provide gives relief I can feel head to toe while preserving all things barefoot!

5.0 out of 5 stars These are the best shoes for running!

I bought them because I wanted to try to run with barefoot shoes and these ones had very good reviews. I wore them a few times to run in the snow and really really liked them. They are a good transition to complete barefoot shoes since they have a thin layer underneath the sole of the shoes that still protects your feed from the ground. I definitely recommend these shoes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes but not very durable

Really liked these shoes for trail running. You feel the stones through them but not in an painful way. Very lightweight. Main gripe is that the uppers started to wear away well within six months (got small holes which have grown into years)

4.0 out of 5 stars Non barefoot, ma ok per transizione. Forte arco plantare. Prendere taglia abituale.
Reviewed in Italy on November 1, 2022
