Love this book, be prepared to make a lot of beep and boots when reading aloud

Love this book, be prepared to make a lot of beep and boots when reading aloud
First off, with a name like Robo-saucet you know it is going to be good...... I should preface that with the fact that we are a -sauce household, I say awesome-sauce, special sauce...... there are a lot of sauces so this book had me from the get go. Then there are the illustrations, with bright and youthful colors of neon splashed among the pages the readers eye is drawn in and each page is a fun zap of new colors and fresh illustrations. The story is about a boy who makes robo-sauce and then becomes a robot, he then turns his family and his dog into robots so he has some company and then the book flips (with a huge pull out and you flip the book upside down and start from the back to read the robot part). There are a lot of beep boops in the text so you really need to be prepared for a bit of animation while reading this one but the interaction is a fun change up in the world of picture books. The book is a great one to add to your collection, I even use it frequently for birthday gifts and pair it with a robot toy.

I didn’t read the reviews before buying this one- just saw “robot” and ordered it for my eight year old who also likes Dragons Love Tacos. It is fantastic! We were all so surprised by what happened with the book and my son gives it 10 million stars! Don’t hesitate, just buy it.

My kids love this one. It's a bit irreverent and silly, and I love that in the end the boy's family is shown supporting him and being silly with him. Surprisingly the pages haven't ripped, which is probably mostly luck since my kids aren't exactly cautious when flipping the cover around. Both my 8 and 4 year old still love me to read this one to them. It's a hit in our house!
Update: My kids are now 10 and 6 and still both love this book. (Well, the 10 year old doesn't read it on his own, but he always makes a point to come in and listen when we're reading it to his little brother!) They both love that the family in the book decides to be silly with the boy rather than scolding him. I think it appeals to them since they often find themselves in a similar situation! And the book still hasn't ripped, although I think that's mostly because we say the grown up reading it does the folding. This book has stood the test of time in our house!

The book start off exactly as you'd expect from the creative team who brought us Dragons Love Tacos and Secret Pizza Party (among others); It's entertaining for both children and adults, beautiful to look at, and just the right amount of funny for a kids book. BUT... Robo-Sauce is different than any other children book I've seen (and I've seen a lot) because this book transforms into another book. It plays right into the story of robots taking over. It took my 3 year old a little bit to figure out how to do the book transformation herself, but once she got it she was so proud she wanted to show EVERYONE her new book and how it changes. Definitely a new favorite for my kids. When I find interesting books like this I typically buy a few so can give them out for all the birthday parties I go to. The book seems much more substantial than the price listed on Amazon so you get extra credit when giving it as a gift.

We absolutely love this book. My husband who happens to be deployed at this time. Purchase this book and made it really awesome audio/video recording of it and sent it to us. This book is so cute and it's by the same author who wrote dragons love tacos. We absolutely love both books and read them frequently. My son walks around talking like a robot everyday he says I am a robot I am sent to you from outer space beep boop. All day everyday. If you are thinking about getting this but I highly recommend it it's really good your kids will enjoy it and parents will enjoy reading it. The best part about this book is it literally transforms into iRobot the book itself turns into a robot is really cute. Go ahead and get this book and read it to your kids they'll enjoy it so will you

5.0 out of 5 stars then this book is super fun. *slight spoiler* The illustrations are excellent
Reviewed in Canada on December 29, 2016
This book is hilarious. I'm not sure who loves it more, myself or my robot-obsessed 3.5 yr old. If you're looking for wholesomeness and morality tales, this is not for you. However, if you have a sense of humor and don't mind the idea of world Robo-domination, then this book is super fun.

    *slight spoiler*

The illustrations are excellent, as is the surprise book transformation. The colors are mostly grayscale, metallic, and dayglow. I find the alternate cover doesn't wrap around perfectly, and does require adult help, but we're reading it together anyway.

    5.0 out of 5 stars これはすごい!すべてが(本も作者もまでが)変身してしまうソース!
Reviewed in Japan on June 8, 2018
