The LGBTQ+ community is a loving family. As such, this colorful book celebrates our most iconoclastic sisters and brothers (and gender-nonbinary friends) across history.

This beautiful book is an illustrated and alphabetic celebration of LGBTQ+ activists, artists, comedians, writers, philosophers, musicians, poets, and Olympic gold medalists. These icons of the queer community have collectively championed civil rights, radically increased queer visibility and provided a means of escapism through their soul-affirming artistry.

Just some of the trailblazers featured in
Queer Icons from Gay to Z include Josephine Baker, Laverne Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Keith Haring, Neil Patrick Harris, Marsha P Johnson, Harvey Milk, Martina Navratilova, Cynthia Nixon, Frank Ocean, Ruby Rose, and so on--all the way to Z. Loaded with trivia and factoids about each icon, this colorfully illustrated book unites pop-culture icons of the current day with the activists and revolutionaries who fought (sometimes literally to the death) for the right to be who they are, and the right to love whoever they damn well please.

Abraham (Bram) Stoker was an Irish writer, best known for his Gothic classic Dracula, which continues to influence horror writers and fans more than 100 years after it was first published. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, in science, mathematics, oratory, history, and composition, Stoker' s writing was greatly influenced by his father' s interest in theatre and his mother' s gruesome stories about her childhood during the cholera epidemic in 1832. Although a published author of the novels Dracula, The Lady of the Shroud, and The Lair of the White Worm, and his work as part of the literary staff of The London Daily Telegraph, Stoker made his living as the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and the business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London. Stoker died in 1912, leaving behind one of the most memorable horror characters ever created.

I love this musical so much for my birthday 08/23, I was able to get this including the original cast recording, and soon the authors vocal collection. I actually got the original 1970 version by accident. I originally was gonna get the 1995 version that included marry me a little, excluding tick tock, and other things that most people know from company now, I did always wanted to get myself the original version somehow. When I found out I ordered the original 1970 version I was actually more happy! When I got in the mail, I read through it all and found a lot of differences in them not only in just the songs like tick tock, marry me alittle, and the opening of company, but also big changes in scenes. Also surprise that I had a copy of the original since it does say in the "about the author" bio, it says "Mr. Sondheim is CURRENTLY completing Follies, a show for production in the 1970-1971 season with a libretto by James Goldman." Which surprised me a lot. It's condition was surprisly so good. It only had a pencil marking in the second page but I've erased it and it looks so good. And since my cast recording came in the mail already I smile so much when I put the side by side.... By side.... I will say, I might "sooner or later" (see what I did there?) Eventually I want to get all the cast recording of each revival including the 1994 Broadway revival (Boyd Gaines) [Album color: Pink/white], 1995 Sam Mendes London Production [Album cover: Black] (Adrian Lester), The 2006 John Doyle Broadway production [Album cover:Blue] (Raul Esparza) and if they ever have it somewhere in the world, would looooooooooove to get the 2001 Brazilian Cast recording. Trust me it's so beautiful. Also I'll be honest, I love the 2011 concert but I hated that NPH was Bobby he was not right to be fairly honest. I very much prefer either Dean Jones, Larry Kert or Raul Esparza. I also have The Orignal (West End) London Cast recording with Larry Kert and its magnificent so that why I'm stuck between with either him or the two I just said. 10/10 best book!

This book is eye-catching and brave, it has beautiful illustrations, valuable information, and I loved the personal information about the author's life experience, including (and perhaps especially) their relationship with their mum. I would have given this book a five star review if it were written more thoughtfully, as it excludes Lady Gaga from queer icons status, and instead labels her as an iconic ally.

Lady Gaga is, perhaps, one of the most famous bisexual women in the world, and her queer identity has always been at the core of her career. Her song doesn't just state "you were born this way", it also states "I was born this way". In a world that tries to erase her bisexuality, it's disheartening to see a fellow member of the LGBTQ+ community reduce her queer identity to that of a heterosexual ally.

As stated earlier, this book is brilliant, it just needed more thought and research.
