    My husband built a large wooden dollhouse for my daughter two Christmases ago, and although she has been playing with it ever since, she got tired of playing with the same set of dolls. So this birthday (she turned seven), I decided to introduce her to the Calico Critters range of toys and playsets. They fit in the dollhouse beautifully (I know the range has its own set of buildings, but my husband put a lot of effort into the dollhouse and it is large, roomy and beautiful) and the best part is that I was able to complement some of the existing play furniture with some new purchases.

    This kitchen playset is just wonderful with all the tiny accessories and furniture. There's a kitchen sink and cabinet; a kitchen hutch; an oven which has a door that opens (so does the cabinet and hutch); a kitchen table with two chairs (I wish they had added another two); and of course lots of little accessories - carrot, potatoes,potted plants, an oven tray, a mitten, plates, cups, saucers, teapot, tea container, salt and pepper set, spatula, cutting boards, etc. The details are amazing, and there are also stickers provided so you can decorate the hutch tiles and kitchen sink tiles!

    My daughter has an active imagination and one of her favorite activities is making up stories with the critters from the Calico Critters range of toys (I've purchased many of the different animal families) and it is such a joy to see her come up with different plotlines and play along with her. This is creative play at its best, and I look forward to building her Calico Critter collection as long as she loves playing with them!

    I'm a 26 year old toy photographer.

    I've been shooting photographs of scale miniatures for roughly 4 years, and this was a dream come true.

    My 5 year old niece came by her love of dollshouses after seeing some of my photos and now she adores Calico Critter toys!

    There is so much going on in this set!

    And all Calico Critter toys are just as detailed, too.

    You can fully customise a lot of these sets with stickers, too! The toys take great to paint, if you and your kids want to customize the color scheme of a set, it's very easily done.

    I furnished my Calico Critter house with only 4 sets of toys... a kitchen, a living room, and a girls' room. Of course, I immediately purchased more sets for my niece and I.

    I love that all the sets have toys that can easily be used in other parts of the house....I have 2 kitchens now, and I use some of the food from one kitchen in the other kitchen, for example.

    My niece and I now have an entire bookshelf of toy books, a change of quilts for our beds, a fully-stocked pantry of food and canned goods, a full set of plates, a bathroom, and a bedroom for a boy and girl that I wish I had as a kid!! With ALL the bells and whistles!

    I cannot recommend these toys enough!!

    My niece told me even, that when she gets older, she's going to have a dolly museum. I love that I have passed this on to her!

    I myself can set up a photoshoot for hours and hours...Calico Critters opened up a whole realm of possibilities.

    I admit that I am hooked on the Calico Critters in every respect. Even though I bought them for my two year old granddaughter, I have spent a few secret hours setting up the various rooms and making notes on what I need to buy for her next. What I really enjoy is putting the tiny stickers on everything. I like meticulous work and this fills the bill. I put all the tiny parts away for when she's older but that doesn't keep me from playing with them first. The detail is just amazing and I love that these cute animals occupy this world rather than people. I can't wait to acquire more buildings so i can make a village. My son and his family live in England so I also have access to the Sylvanian Families things. It 's nice to have a toy that I enjoy playing with when my granddaughter visits. The detail on this set is so cute and everything is so well made. I wish these were around when my daughter was little.

    This set is the cutest thing ever. And what I truly like about it (and all the Calico Critters playsets) is the fact that the pieces are made of some kind of plastic and the attention to detail.

    When I was a little girl, I had a dollhouse with real wooden dollhouse furniture inside. And because it was so small in scale, I really couldn't play with it, so it wasn't that fun for me. With this furniture, the pieces are small, yes, but they are made of plastic and easier for children to play with. But because of the size of the some of the pieces (like the tiny food) I think children who are a bit older (maybe 5 and up?) would be better suited for this toy, rather than ages 3 or 4. Also, little ones of that age, may find playing with some of the tiny pieces, frustrating, to set up and play with.

    I like the little canisters of flour and tea and the little cups and baskets. And what I also think is so, so cute, is, that it comes with the cutest little oven mitt! I had fun playing with this! Are we sure this is just for kids? :)
