ALSO: the rated weight for these carts is fairly accurate due to the thickness of the metal and the plastic rimmed wheels. If you have this heavily loaded you do NOT want to slam the front wheel into a hole, crack in the sidewalk.
ALSO: If you pull this from the very top, it will eventually bend at the bottom of the frame. This is strong enough to work if you take care with it but light enough not to kill you stowing it into your vehicle. It is the best suitable cart for my music work that I could find without weighing so much that I wanted to leave it in a dumpster instead of loading it.
If you stack on stuff high... you may want to Bungie strap the stuff that will fall off.
UPDATE 1: Just ordered another model 10 my 2nd in this class and my 3rd from this company.. It fits 2 10" powered subs, a 8iu rack studio rack case, a suitcase with 2 line array speakers with 4x5" speakers in each, keyboard and it's hard plastic case on top, my foot pedal board, my bag of cords and 2 stools that I got from Walfart to sit on and put my rack on... Not Bad. I will say that it comes with WHEELS YOU HAVE TO PUT ON and a little toy wrench... I will also say that I may reinforce where the front wheel metal support meets the main part of the cart... This is the crap designers idea of obsolescence and bends if you happen to hit a hard bump on the load in. It is about the best solution for my solo/duo act and often can make 1 trip in...but usually bring my guitars and keyboard stand in first to park safely then wheel this thing in with the rest. The back wheels work on sand....the front ones DONOT....and for fatter front Wheels this company wants near 100 bucks more.... I have never needed replacement wheels but they can be found online and from less expensive sources.
I had the smaller lite version of this for musical gear. It worked fine but I had to deal with some patios and sidewalks and their uneven cracks that would catch the little front wheels of the smaller version. I got this one with about 2x the weight capacity, that I did not really need and the larger wheel size... it does go by the sidewalk irregularities better.
Another factor about this cart from a musicians point of view is that it is relatively safe on the hands and fingers with few cutting or pinching hazards if you are reasonably careful....CAUTION !!! watch the little button on the bottom that lets it get smaller....I have pinched my fingers on this stupid thing more than a few times...
I have bought 3 and liked them all.
The problem is that the has at least two major design flaws (those engineering awards they brag about should be reconsidered): In using it as an extended cart (which is a must for hauling a drum set), the end handles can only stay upright (unfolded) and in position for use in pulling or pushing the cart by releasing them from their folding storage position by pressing down (or stepping on) a steel cable on the bottom of each handle. That cable is inaccessibly attached inside the handle and is vulnerable to becoming detached by that pressing or stepping action. Detaching that cable limits its ability to be folded and easily transported or stored.
So FIRST, DON'T EVER STOMP on that cable to release the handles at either end. Just press (or step) on it firmly but without excessive force or thrust; just enough to release the handle and no more. I've caused two to detach and some friends who use these carts to move heavy audio equipment have also broken two of them the same way. Extra hands helping to open or close the cart may jeopardize its life unless they know what they are doing. A broken or detached cable is virtually irreparable except (I'm told; never had the time to fool with it) after extensive delays for replacement parts plus difficulties reinstalling the cables. If only one cable is disabled you can leave the corresponding handle in an upright position and collapse the other one, and simply break your back maneuvering it in and out of your vehicle with the unfolded handle sticking straight up. Not exactly why you bought this, but...
SECOND, while common sense dictates that you PUSH the loaded cart with the swivel wheels closest to you (think of yourself steering the rear of a hook and ladder), and that works perfectly, DO NOT EXERT MUCH PRESSURE PUSHING IT OVER A BUMP, THRESHOLD, ETC. When the handle is upright and you push on it, the force of the push is distributed throughout the length of the handle, which is resisted at its bottom by metal TABS that have now been added but which are thin and simply welded on. Those tabs can barely take the force necessary to move the rated 500 lb. load, and simply break off if stressed by resistance to the load, as when the cart encounters a threshold and requires an extra pushing thrust to overcome it. An earlier version of the cart had a sturdier solution but that design was abandoned for some reason (it exists on my first cart). Now, when all of the force is exerted from an extra strong push on those thin metal tabs it breaks them off the cart, which can no longer be maneuvered and thus becomes a stand for flower pots. I realized that vulnerability after I acquired the second cart after the cable broke on the first one, but, people being generally kind and helpful, someone rushed over to help me when I stalled my second cart on a threshold and before I could stop him pushed it too strongly, which broke both of those tabs (there's one on each side of each handle).
Note that when you pull the cart instead of pushing it the bottom of the handle pushes against some nice thick structural steel and so even a good pulling tug should not hurt the cart or the handle. Unfortunately, when you pull that load it not only strains your back but you can't see where the hell you're going.
Given that this is now my third cart, and this model has now been on the market for several years, I don't understand why those "award winning engineers" haven't solved these issues. My descriptions are of ordinary, everyday uses, not extraordinary applications The problems my friends have had are similar.
Having said all this, do as I have. Buy it because when it works it is far better than anything on the market. But until they fix this (and if they do I may buy a fourth rather than risk this vulnerability) use it carefully, and regard it as inevitably disposable, although I use my original "pre-tab" cart unfolded permanently to move drums just from my studio to my vehicle and back, so its vehicle storage capability is no longer so important. Hope this was helpful, including to the company.
Assembly was easy, and this thing is absolutely sturdy. The minus is it is a lot heavier than the R2, and takes up more space than I expected. Where the R2 easily fits in my Mitsubishi Outlander's cargo area with room to spare, this cart takes up a lot more space. But I am not complaining because this will handle the same amount of gear in a single trip that required two trips with the R2.
As an aside, I also purchased the new R2 model (now called an R2RT) to replace my old R2, which supported me for over 1500 gigs and was showing its age. I am using that one more often, but that is only because I only need this larger cart for occasional gigs when I am required to haul more gear.
Bottom line: I love this cart and have had it since November 2020, so I have had some quality time with it and there are no major issues. In fact, aside from the size and weight, there are no minor issues either.
