Novelty toy. Not a tool.
This was not made by IWI Uzi, the well know gun manufacturer. It's about 6" long. It's about a bulky as a AAA powered mechanic's pocket flashlight. It's very light anodized aluminum. Probably weighs about the same as a commercial paint pen. It's not very ergonomic to hold as a pen or as a weapon. In a bad situation, I'd reach past this and grab a pair of scissors. The bad:There is no cap. Youll need to unscrew the body of the pin a few rotations and the cover unscrews to cover the ball point portion. If you go 1 more full rotation the pin falls apart. It will only have 1-2 threads holding it together. (Do not strike anything without the ball point exposed or it with snap on contact)The crown (DNA catcher) is not sharp. You may need to use a small file or dremel to make this cut/scratch anything.

This is a solid writing utensil. Writes very well with the Parker Gel refill. The rubber tip over the "DNA Catcher" will get lost in the first week, and it takes a few too many twists to expose the writing tip, but I have had mine for a while and I really like it. It is not going to break or bend in your cargo pocket. The price is right for this.

Pros: Worth the money. I shopped and some tactical pens cost $100 or more. This pen seems to do everything they do, but for a fraction of the cost. Also, it does a great job of being a writing instrument. It is a little heavier and longer than most pens, which works for me because I have big hands. I travel for a living, and this pen goes thru airport security with no problem when it is in my breifcase.

Cons: The little rubber cover on the end of the DNA collector comes off too easy. Without it on, the DNA collector can hurt you just carrying it around. For a women, the pen might be too long and heavy for everyday writing. I have purchased several and given them to the women in my life I care about. I told them to throw it in the bottom of their purse to use when needed (walking to their car in a parking garage, etc.) Another minor issue is retracting the writing portion of the pen. You must twist the end of the pen to roll the writing part up. Otherwise it stays exposed and can mark your clothing if you put it in a shirt or coat pocket.

I have one and bought this for my brother. We both love them. It's solid and provides that feeling of having SOMETHING with you when in a gun-free area or building. Will you be able to inspire the next Die Hard movie with it? Probably not. But it'll work in a pinch to have an extra tool at your hands in a bad situation.

I agree with the other one star reviews: you need to nearly unscrew the two pieces of the barrel to retract the point. Right on the bare edge of falling apart. Then less than a year after buying it the ink cartridge started sticking in the exposed position. New ink cartridge: still wouldn’t work.

This seems quite well made to a seriously defective design.

This is a really cool, streamlined, tactical pen.

So, it needs to be a pen, right? YES. Soon as you scratch off the wax, it writes! Yes! Other, competitive products have forgotten that a pen is a pen, and needs to write, well, out of the box!

    Love this product. Thats all.

Solid! This is a really good tactical pen. The roller ink cartridge it comes with is fair at best.... I immediately replaced the ink with the Parker gel, so now it is an amazing, smoother writer. I have it on my lanyard at work and a number of people have noticed it and admired it.

I have concerns about the "DNA Collector" though. This can cause untold damage to someone on a hard strike, opening you up to severe litigation. That being said, if you need to take someone down and out fast, this will do the trick. Just remember, this will be treated as a weapon in a court of law.....
