Quieter than my Badger

I chose this disposal based on advice from Terry Love’s Plumbing Forum. It replaced a fairly generic Badger that was about 5 years old. I did not install it myself, so I can’t comment on that aspect. Initially I was disappointed about the sound level because it sounds exactly the same as the old Badger when turned on. However, when it is actually macerating food scraps, it is significantly quieter than the old unit. I have noticed that food scraps to do not go through the rubber petals as easily as the with the Badger, but perhaps this will change over time. Also, with the disposal operating, the sink will fill up with water when the faucet runs, but then quickly starts to drain.
