Product Description
Knit Picks Lace Blocking Wires & T-Pins
Lace blocking wires are essential to creating shawls, stoles, and scarves that show off all of the delicate details of lace. Simply slip the wire through the edges of your lace project and place pins along the inside of the wires to hold them in place while the lace dries. The result is a lacy fabric that lays flat and displays the stitch patterns in detail. If you have scalloped edges you will want to slip the wire through the outer edges of your scallops to emphasize them. Follow the same rules as pin or string blocking by measuring the radius of your finished piece as you adjust the wires. All wires are stainless steel and rust proof. The first time you use your blocking wires, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove manufacturing residue.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024Used the wires to block a large mosaic-stitch shawl that I made after a knitting group friend suggested them to me. These wires were so effective in achieving the large straight edge I needed. They are somewhat flexible, but did not use them for the curved edge above; I would have been more comfortable using finer lace wires (the project above was non-plied fingering weight yarn) for the curved edge. For 99% of the knit things I make, these wires are perfect. Highly recommended. Don’t know how I knit for so many years without them.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2019These are exactly as described. They are very sturdy and work so well! I am able to block my work so easily! I will continue to repurchase as needed. I especially love that I now have something to give my work a straight edge!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2019This type of thing is indispensable for blocking, and these are pretty good ones. The rods are very bendy, and would be great for curved edges. So far I’ve only done straight edges, and I’ve had to use lots of pins and a T-square to keep my edges perfect. The ends are not covered with a rubber-type tip like other brands, but that hasn’t bothered me.
The pins they came with are rubbish. Dull and short. I didn’t care very much as I already had plenty. There wouldn’t have been enough to block much of anything anyway.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2015These wires make blocking a snap. The wires are long and flexible, leaving gorgeous edges and lace patterns open to their full potential. I don't use the T-pins that accompany the wires as I feel they are too thick . Instead, I use the stick pins I purchased from the notions wall at my local JoAnn. These wires work great, and I highly recommend using blocking wires to anyone who doesn't feel that blocking is necessary. I used to feel indifferent toward intensive blocking. I tended to wash my finished items, shape them, and let them air dry. Now I'm a bit of a blocking fanatic! I've attached pictures of my first finished project after using these blocking wires. One picture shows the project on the wired, and the other shows the project after they've been removed. I couldn't believe the nice crisp edges and popping lace pattern. I'm totally sold!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2020Quick shipment, well packaged. There is a good number of wires. The ends of the wires are smooth and don’t catch on my projects when I am inserting them. The tube that they come in keeps them very well protected. Storage is easy if you have a corner! Bonus T pins are handy but some aren’t finished well.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2024As with any metal manufacturers item, be sure to give these a good wipe with a soft cloth prior to use. They come in a good tube case with caps on either end.
