Product Description

This is a 3rd Gen! A Form Fitting USB Hub for Raspberry Pi Zero
Raspberry Pi Zero only comes with a single micro USB (OTG) port, forcing you to use a traditional USB HUB if you want to connect multiple USB peripherals to it. The whole set is bulky and inconvenient to carry around.
The Stackable USB Hub for Raspberry Pi Zero is the perfect way to expand the connectivity of the Raspberry Pi Zero and add keyboards, mice, WiFi dongles, Ethernet adapters and other USB devices. No wires and no soldering work needed. Simply mount the Stackable USB Hub under the Pi Zero using the bundled spacers, screws, bolts, and the Pi Zero will get 4 new USB 2.0 ports!. The Stackable USB Hub has been carefully designed with custom-made parts, so Pi Zero fits and stacks nicely on top on it. It also has built-in a 2-way back-powering circuit to protect against power being plugged into the Pi Zero and the Stackable USB Hub simultaneously.
USB peripherals can be power hungry. Grab an optional 5V 2.4A micro USB wall charger with 1.5M micro USB cable with power switch to ensure enough juice to power your projects. You can also use our Pi Zero protectors with the Stackable USB Hub.
Compatible with the latest Pi Zero v1.3 and Pi Zero W / Pi Zero 2 W!
- Modified spring loaded pogo pin locations to support the latest Pi Zero v1.3 (the one with the camera port) and Pi Zero W / Pi Zero 2 W.
- Pogo pins and the four supporting poles have been elongated to further increase the headroom between the Pi Zero board and the USB hub board, hence, longer header pins are allowed for the Pi Zero header.
- This stackable USB hub design is NOT compatible with the older Pi Zero v1.2 (without the camera port). If you are looking for the hub version compatible with Pi Zero v1.2, check out the 2nd Gen Stackable USB Hub.
Note:
* Make sure the 4 pogo pins on the Hub Hat sits precisely and securely on the Pi Zero test pads PP1, PP6, PP22 and PP23
* Once the Hub HAT is installed, do NOT use any of the micro-USB ports on the Pi Zero, i.e always provide power through the Hub HAT and connect USB devices to the Hub HAT
* Make sure there is no OTG related driver installed in the OS that may interfere with the Hub HAT
* Cannot plug a powered Hub into any of the USB-A ports on the Hub HAT
* Make sure the power adapter used is powerful enough to drive the Pi Zero as well as the attached USB devices. 5V2A or above will be a good choice.

Nice USB hat

- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2024I put this on a Pi Zero 2 W I was using for RetroPie build to allow for multiple controller connections. Worked great -- plug n' play.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2020I am editing my old review because I was wrong. You have to make sure the Pi Zero is NOT in OTG mode for this hat to work. If you have it set to OTG the Pi Zero acts like a slave USB hub and the hat does not work. The Pi Zero must be in the master USB hub mode for the hat to work correctly. I discovered this the hard way.
=== Old Review ==
I recently received this hat and installed it on a Pi Zero W. Long story short, the USB ports on the hat didn’t work. Perplexed, I tried two other Pi Zero 1.3 but the USB ports still didn’t work. It’s installed correctly so that’s not the problem; power applied through the hat’s micro-USB port. Randomly I discovered the ports work if I plug anything into the USB OTG port; they don’t work if I plug them into the power OTG port. When I mean anything works I really mean anything: even plugging in a simple OTG to USB-A adapter (with no device) makes the USB ports on the hat work. I’m really confused.... so far the product sucks.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2017I love the 4 USB ports on the board. Great price, it costs a little less than a happy meal. No soldering or wires to connect the USB hat to the Raspberry Pi Zero. Five years ago I wondered what was next for computers. Well here we are, very small, cost effective, user friendly. Connectivity between the Hub Hat and Raspberry Pi Zero was engineered very cleverly. It uses spring loaded pins that make contact on the back of the Raspberry Pi Zero and ( W ). Get one, you will love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2021Works great. I have a the Raspberry Pi Zero battery from Pisugar, which also uses pogo pins, and I was trying to figure out how to use both that and this hub. Turns out, you can stack the battery right underneath the hub! The solder joints underneath the pogo pins on this hub work just like the little receptor circles underneath the pi (and are in the same place).
Only thing I dislike is that you can't use any of the usb ports on the pi, or else the usb ports on this hub won't work.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2025Works as advertised. Installation instructions are in the product description. Very easy.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2024I'm using this on my Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W so I can get some USB support to my in-dash car audio unit. I'm testing out two of them and so far they're great. We'll see how they all do once summer hits and under dash temperatures reach "don't touch that" levels.
These come with plastic stand-off pieces so I swapped them out for brass/copper/metal just in case the heat makes them weeble wobble.
(Edit) I've noticed that if you choose to try to also use the Micro USB port on the Zero 2 W it 100% disables the USB hat (bottom?). I've been trying to get my RPi Zero 2 W to boot from USB and after a few hours, I've learned that for some reason, when plugging anything into the micro USB port, it zeros out all the useful full sized USB ports on this board. "Back to the drawing board for me".
Would recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2017great design, great product, great quality. Uses zero of the GPIO pins, leaving the bus free for an a/d converter or anything your heart desirese. Assembles in less than 5 minutes. The only way this thing could be better is if it had an audio interface on it, then it would be instant streaming radio for the masses.
Its so much easier to work with than an external usb hub, and so compact. I've bought two so far and they are both great.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2017Simple to install on the Pi Zero, if you have a teeny-tiny Philips screwdriver. I had to use an X-Acto blade to tighten the screws (no biggie). When installing be careful of the spring-loaded pins; it's easy to bend one out of alignment so it doesn't touch the connection on the Pi. Well, it was easy for *me* to bend one out of alignment, but also very easy to carefully nudge it back into alignment. Once my klutzy error was fixed it fired up and just plain worked. Excellent engineering and function, very highly recommended. Well worth a 5 star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars works amazingly
never thought my pi zero could be so expandable, finally full size usb ports, definitely recommend to anyone who wants full sized usb ports on their zero or zero W/WH

5.0 out of 5 stars What a treat!
This is the gizmo to add full sized USB ports to your Pi Zero. No problems at all. Very nice.
- Reviewer $420Reviewed in Canada on December 28, 2022
4.0 out of 5 stars Simple setup, tested working on RPi Zero 2w. No cases support it.
This device is easy plug and play setup. It truly adds more USB ports to a RPi02w as advertised. This would be a WAY better product if it came with a case that supported it and the Pi. As it is, I had to return it because I couldn't find a case that worked with it. Will purchase again if a case becomes available.
