- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2024Color: YellowVerified Purchase1st time worked like a charm but I followed alllll the reviews suggestion — so thank you!! I sprayed the heck out of the pan & the whole mold top middle and bottom. Kept the batter runny & didn’t over pour the mold. Before flipping make sure the bottom is fully cooked. Not burnt. But look for the bubbles on top and for the batter to stiffen up. Then gently take off the mold (use a toothpick if needed near the eyes or smile areas) & flip. Viola!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2020Color: DinoVerified PurchaseWe were able to get pretty good pancakes out of the molds. Our 4 year old recognized the brontosaurus and stegosaurus by name on our first try. Once I pointed out the other was a t-rex she got it.
The pancake batter I make is pretty thick and it took some pushing to get it around the eyes and to fill in the dino heads. But it really wasn't hard. Make sure your pan is preheated and you have a good coating of butter/oil underneath. Make sure to let the pancake set (we gave it an extra 30 seconds). You also might want to make thin pancakes. When we flipped ours the back wasn't set, of course, and it kind of pooled out behind the dinos so they had a background. You can cut it off or leave it. It didn't really make an impact on the dinos.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2022Color: DinoVerified PurchaseI’ve tried using this mold several times and it’s been a bust every time until today.
As usual, I oiled my pan (I use avocado oil), set the mold on the warm oil and moved it around to get a seal, put a bit more oil in the mold itself to try to get the inside edges, so the pancake mix wouldn’t stick. I put the stove on low and poured in my mix and an egg yolk. I spread it into the corners with a chopstick, and let it sit. After 5-7 min I realized I poured too much mix and the top just wasn’t solidifying enough to release and flip. The bottom was solid so I transferred it all, still in the mold, to the air fryer and set the air fryer to 350 for 5 min. It was PERFECT! I used the large end of a chopstick to slowly press out the pieces after it had cooled a bit.
It’s more time consuming but my kiddo loves it!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2019Color: SpaceVerified PurchaseThis was purchased for my kiddos. Daddy makes the most awesome pancakes on the weekends, and we thought this would make pancakes more fun.
The plates are cute (we bought both the space and dinosaur sets). The molds are easy to clean.
BUT
There were no real directions included. I am used to food molds at least including their own compatible recipe; nope. We are trying to adapt our recipes - thinning them out, quite alot. So far, not a clean proposition. There is quite a bit of sticking which leads to poor release from the molds and subsequent misshappen badness.
I think it’s great in concept, and a difficult subject to execute.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2018Color: UnicornVerified PurchaseThis was such a great purchase! We already have a heart shaped mold, so we know how they work. We didn't have any trouble extracting the pancake from the mold and flipping it. Just be patient and use a table knife, or spoon, to gently push out any areas that get a bit stuck. We didn't have to do that much at all.

As you can see from the photos this works great! A little practise needed and the right mixture consistency but great results. And not a fluke, I made 6 of these. Lots of photos attached.
Top tips I found experimenting...
- oil spray the mould every time
- I used a scotch pancake recipe and added extra milk to make it run into the mould better
- cook on a low and slow heat to avoid burning
- appears to work better with a thin layer of batter, but thick ones taste better!
All in all this will be making many appearances on a Saturday morning!
Apologies there’s ALOT of photos, got a bit over excited with the kids 😂
Update... my second go with this was with a big standard crepe recipe (much thinner). These shrink back nicely and because they’re wetter don’t cook as fast. The last photo (with the plate) is this mix and probably what I’ll use going forward.
Oh, and if your name begins with J as mine does. The pattern has a J built in wink 😉
