    Lots of moves, not as much capabilities
    Its not as heavy duty as you might want- which is somewhat expected. The grapple only picks up particular items and we have found it hard to find the right material for the bucket. But there are lots of maneuvering you can do with the remote. The jack hammer/drill has been an unexpected favorite attachment. We love the fact you can silence all the sounds if you want. Our son at 3 is a bit young but still having fun and, if he doesn't break it first, he will grow into it.

    It's a cool truck and my son loves it, but switching out the scooper for the bucket is difficult. I haven't figured it out yet. No instructions with the truck. And surprisingly there were no YouTube videos explaining how to do it. My son would probably play with it a lot more if he was able to switch out the scooper easily on his own. Speaking as an exhausted parent of 5 yr old twins - I'm sick of assembling and adjusting toys. I wish this was more user friendly. For that reason I don't recommend it for probably kids younger than 7 or 8.

    After doing some research on youtube I decided on buying this 1:16 scale Double E excavator (which included the bucket, grabber and drill). There are several brands out there and you can spend a lot of money if you want, but as a gift for a young child, this one serves it's purpose well. Compared to other RC excavators, I found that the Double E version had the most straight forward controls. It is, of course, cordless and moves in all directions using it's tank-like treads. The arm swivels and articulates just like a real excavator. The bucket and grabber work well at picking up relatively light objects. (Again, you can pay more for a heavy duty adult collector's/hobbyist excavator, but for kids, this one is good at moving Legos and such.) The drill attachment is fun to use for tearing Lego structures down. The excavator is nicely detailed and has lights and sound effects. The sound effects can be muted to spare any parents their sanity, if needed. This excavator is powered by a provided 4.8V 380mAh NiMH battery (so no memory issues with charging when using the provided charger) and takes 4-5 hours to fully charge. It has a run time of 30mins. The transmitter/controller requires you to buy 2xAA batteries. The unit is 63cm/24.8in Long, 16.5cm/6.5in Wide, 43cm/16.93in Height. Package weight 2.6 Kg/ 5.73 lbs. When looking for a dump truck to go with this toy, we found that the Bruder Granite 1:16 scale dump truck (#02825) was a great match. (My lil girl likes to put her Playmobil characters in both her excavator and dump truck.) If you want an RC dump truck (and don't care about being able to put little characters inside it), check out the Huina 1:14 scale. The Double E 1:16 scale excavator will have no problem filling up either of them, size-wise. Hope this is helpful to someone out there. Cheers!
