The blades are a soft plastic that fold right under the cap and don't hurt if you touch them when running. The blades are small but put out a nice amount of air. This is a portable, personal fan, do don't expect a ton of air. It's perfect for holding near your face or neck for a cool breeze.

    Though we're having a cooler than usual southern spring, I'm gearing up for warmer weather -- because it's coming. After reading a ton of reviews for this personal fan, I decided to give it a go. I'm happy I did -- it comes neatly packaged, with batteries included (simply open the case and gently pull the plastic battery tab to activate).

    I tucked the fan in my purse -- the outer shell is very sturdy -- and have already used it a couple of times. It's surprisingly powerful for such a compact device. And, it's quiet.

    This will definitely help combat hot flashes -- or provide relief to *anyone* who needs a bit of cool air in a public space -- church, meetings, your kid's school play or recital ... the DMV ...

    Great little fan that easily fits in my purse. Love that it is so easy to store and gives me a breeze. Fan is not as powerful or quiet as I thought. My sister has one that plugs into her phone that is small and more powerful, maybe because its blades aren't as flimsy. The other one is also more quiet. Still use it and enjoy this one.

    I bought this to keep hand dry and cool during bowling. This is the best bowling accessory I've ever used. For so long I had problems with feel during league and tournaments, trying different rosin bags, powders, always fiddling w/ tape, interchangeable thumbs. This is the best. Nothing is close.

    What really great about this for bowling is the size. It's smaller than the other mini fans. it takes up no space in my bowling bag and it's not like I'm walking around with some sort of contraption.

    I've never seen anyone else use a fan like this for bowling, but if curious - it work amazing well. Ad now I never have to bother with rosen or powders again and fiddle around with tape a fraction of the time I did before.

    I like how portable this is. It’s a bit bigger than a big pen but is slimmer than most portable flashlights!
    It’s really easy to get a hair caught in the blade some be careful! I had to get a strand off mine out with tweezers in order for it to spin at high speed again.

    The blades are disappointing. They just aren’t durable enough to make a mighty gust of wind. It’s good if you’re slightly too warm, if want to speed up how quickly eye makeup or sunscreen dries down without messing it up or if want to harden your nail polish. However, it’s usefulness is limited if you’re overheated or sweating.

    Update: I’m taking another star off because of how fragile this thing is. I was jogging and two little strands of hair slipped out of my bun and it immediately got stuck around the fan turner — it stopped working completely.
    It took me hours with tweezers and scissors to fix the dang thing. I’ve had 3 other instances like this. If you don’t have long hair it’s a 4 star item if you do it is 3.0 or 3.5 stars because you can’t use it for most kinds of activities without the threat of it breaking down. I feel like I spend more time fixing this thing than I do using it

    Honestly this product sucked. I had a mini fan I could connect to my iPhone and it did the job. I get hot super fast. I like to be able to have something portable and small. This fan barely blew any air. I felt like maybe if the propellers where longer it might have worked. Cute idea but do t waste your money.

    I get motion sickness so I like to keep something with me to generate a little extra airflow when needed. Unfortunately, the amount of air this fan kicked out just didn't do the trick. It isn't terrible but I owned a fan that plugged into the charger of my Iphone that was much more powerful than this and way lighter. I had high hopes for this one because I like that you can keep batteries in it and not have to use your phone but alas, the hunt continues.

    Mine came with batteries so that was a nice addition. I use it when my face gets hot. I've let some friends and family use it and they all love it as well. It's pretty strong for the small size, but I do have to hold it semi close to my face (but what can you expect with how small it is?). The material of the fan blades are nice because if it gets caught on something (like hair) it doesn't get damaged.
