    Customers say

Customers find the rooftop tent well-designed and good value for money, with positive feedback about its size, particularly fitting on short-bed Tacomas, and sleep quality, with one customer noting it accommodates two adults comfortably. The build quality receives mixed reviews, with some praising its construction while others report Velcro fasteners falling apart. Setup experiences are mixed, with some finding it easy to set up while others find it difficult to install. The tent's water resistance is a concern, as the entry point collects much water in rain, and condensation resistance also gets mixed feedback.

Edit 8/27/21: When I opened the tent to use it in June of 2021, I discovered that all the nylon straps that hold up the door and screen are totally trashed. 100% not usable. Now I have to use some spring clamps to keep the door and screen up. The straps closer to the center of the rain fly are the same material and they’re also destroyed, which means the rain fly flaps more in the wind than it would have otherwise. Also, the top rung of the ladder has been stuck open since the first time I used it. It’s okay for now, but if another rung sticks open, it will be a problem. It’s really too bad, because the rest of the tent has been fine. Old review: Great for 1 large adult, 2 medium-sized adults, or a small handful of kids. The quality is really good, especially considering the price point. Others have complained about the straps breaking, and I can see that happening. The straps feel a bit cheap, so I’ll probably replace them at home before they have a chance to break out in the sticks. The mattress pad is very firm. If you’re used to a softer pad, just consider adding another pad on top. From what I can tell, the pad in this tent can’t be removed. The cover is very thick, and it appears to be very durable. Setup and takedown are straightforward. I can have it up and ready in 5-10 minutes. Takedown takes just a couple minutes longer. The ladder is good. If you have to put the ladder away when it’s wet, just make sure to open it again to let it dry out. Be aware that there will likely be metal shavings in the nooks and crannies of the outside of the tent and the frame. The manufacturer could do a better job at reducing or eliminating the shavings. The tent was packaged well, inside a large box, which was inside an even bigger box. The corners were well protected with foam. The manufacturer included a wrench for the nuts, as well as some extra plastic end caps for the rails, since you’ll need to pop out a couple of them in order to install the hardware in the T-slots. The shipping was a headache. UPS Freight set a delivery date and time with me, but then missed the delivery, because the tent wasn’t in the state yet. No big deal. Two more delivery appointments, and it was delivered. The outer box was somewhat damaged. The inner box was perfect, and the tent was undamaged. I’ll provide updates after I’ve had a chance to take it out a few time. -EDIT- 4/26/21 We took it out for the first time over the weekend. Setup took 5 minutes. The plan was for my 9 year old and 7 year old to sleep in the tent, and for me to sleep in the trailer under the tent. The weather was bad, so I squeezed in the tent with my kids. It was windy off and on, with huge wind bursts making everything on the tent flap. Pair that with the very uncomfortable mattress (my fault for not bringing the thicker pad) and I was up all night. We stayed warm all night, and there was no condensation in the morning, so that was a plus. Takedown was fine, until the top rung of the ladder wouldn’t collapse. I spent way too much time trying to get it to work before finally giving up on it. Hopefully I can get it figured out. Also, in the weeks prior to this camp out, the rooftop tent was rained on while it sat in my driveway. Although water pooled on the cover, no water seeped through onto the tent.

      Pros:
. Easy to open up and setup
      . Sturdy mattress, comfortable
. Good design, relatively well ventilated while keeping inside tent warm
. Brilliant ladder setup, easy to store and setup
. Reasonable price but not necessarily cheap
. Not too hard to set apart and install
      . Good cover design

      Cons:
. Instruction manual could be better
. Bottom frame could have been lighter (maybe), although a lighter frame would have lost in sturdiness and
      comfort
. Installation brackets could be better (I used bungy cords to install mine)
. The rubber at bottom of tent metal sticks need to be sanded to fit through frame sides

      Installation Suggestions:
. Remove cover and tent from frame to make it easier to install (specially if you install alone)
. If you are a small frame person, you will need help with heavy bottom frame
. When opening tent, lift bottom first and hold with a stick then pull the two strap on front.

      Overall Review:
Excellent product, perfect for affordable, mobile off-grid living. This rooftop tent is a classic poor man RV.

Got to use our tent this past weekend and had a great experience. It's mounted on my stock crossbars on my 4th gen 4Runner. The tent does a wonderful job of retaining heat at night, staying cool during the day, and keeping out wind. I'm also very happy with the general build quality of the unit and fabric. Set up is also super easy. Pull off the cover, install the ladder, then hop on real quick to grab the two securing hooks and pull it up. I secured them to my wheels.

I like the fact that it just pops up instead of flipping over. It leads to a stealthier design that is better on the highway in relation to wind noise or MPG loss. I don't really hear it much unless there's heavy wind gusts (I plan to add a fairing to help with this), but honestly, I think I only lost 0.5 MPG on this trip with the tent on.

Highly recommend, happy to answer any questions. I plan to post updates to this review as I use it more.

I have yet to set up on my Xterra however it is set up in my basement and quality it’s great! Surprised and how cheap it is for what you get! I will update my review once it had been used and fully set up

      Update 4/2021
Mounted and used the tent for the first time. Mounting was a little tricky as the instructions do not tell you that you have the option to move the brackets. We just had to figure it out on our own. Once that was figured out it was awesome. Quick and easy setup. Little cozy for two people but happy with it.
