I asked my colleague to send it back in a brown paper bag

When I lent this book to a psychologist down the hall, I asked him to put it in a paper bag if he needed to leave it in my waiting room. Why?
This is one of the funniest books I have read, but if you actually have phobias, you have to be in the "right place" in your recovery to appreciate the humor.
I would recommend it for adolescents and adults who find that humor helps them step back and laugh at their anxiety, phobias or obsessiveness. This book consists of paper pop-up depictions of phobias including fear of dentists, fear of heights and fear of snakes. The person who worked on this book has clearly been through it himself. I can't imagine any other way that someone could get this so vividly. Open a page, and your worst fear literally jumps right in your nose. Not for young children or those who are especially sensitive.
I would have given it five stars if he had done a page on thunderstorms. Maybe there will be a second edition.

Amazingly good popup design

Fair warning up front for the most obvious phobias: yes, there's a snake and a spider. Pretty well done, too; especially the snake. But the artist and popup designer have a great imagination and get very creative... Would not have imagined popups for acrophobia and claustrophobia could be so effective... For claustrophobia the book doesn't even open all the way, just brilliant.

A good companion to the Pop Up Book Of Nightmares. Cute book fun for adults to add to a book collection or for all the the little children out there that like a little spooky giggle.
Super cool pop-up

The only adjective I can come up with for this book is "super cool." What a great idea! Each page contains the definition of a particular phobia, accompanied by an artistic rendering in pop-up. Each phobia is meant to be experienced in first person perspective.
For example, acrophobia (a fear of heights) has you looking over the edge of a tall sky scraper to a city street far, far below and dentophobia (fear of the dentist) puts you in the hotseat, just inches away from a menacing, quickly approaching drill. My only complaint is that there are not more phobias included. Greenberg and Reinhart did a fantastic job; this is quite the novelty. Expect it to be a great conversation piece wherever it goes.
Other phobias include arachnaphobia (fear of spiders) and necrophobia (fear of being buried alive) among others.
A must-have for pop-up fans!

I bought two of these books used, one for my son-in-law and one for me after I saw the first one. Both were in great shape, no tears, no missing parts. The book is "right on" at capturing the terror caused by a phobia. I am so glad I found them. I love pop-up books and this one is exceptional!!!
Just the thing for your therapist friends

Great gift for your friends who are mental health professionals - much better than the Freud action figure! Every time I look again at this book, I see different funny details, e.g., barbed dental floss, the plane oxygen mask that dispenses goldfish crackers.
With Valentine's Day coming up, the Pop-up Book of Sex would be a good choice for one's significant other.

This book is amazing! The creators are to be commended for their ability to produce in 3-D form a book that so perfectly captures the most common phobias that people suffer from. You have to see it to believe it. Any artist or book collector will appreciate the care and artistry that was put into the creation of this book. It is one of the most treasured pieces of my book collection. Run, don't walk to buy it!
Great Conversation Piece.

A great conversation piece although, not enough information about phobias. I purchased it for it's entertainment value, so I am very satified.
