My three sons and I have been waiting weeks for this book to show up. It arrived today!

I changed my schedule this evening and read it cover to cover. Easy to read but filled with fantastic information that we can use in our current and future builds. It is a page turner whether you are a veteran modder or new to the hobby.

Luke has been a great resource for us (via email) on three Nerf HIRricane builds already, so "having" him next to us in book form for our three Stryfe builds is going to be great. We have a Kronos mod and a Retaliator build right around the corner, so the book is here right when we need it! And with three Stryfe builds to handle, it is great to have a whole chapter dedicated to that model.

Luke's experience, his ability to make what's complicated easy to understand, his presentation skills, and his innovative approach to teaching (and mod design) is second to none. With chapters covering the most pertinent subjects, and awesome photos to go with every topic, this book was very well laid out.

Luke's teaching allowed us to do for our first build. Now we are all in! Thanks Luke. We would not have had the courage to try without you. Now we have a hobby we can all enjoy together...forever. -Art

The book is amazingly and beautifully produced. In a few months, it will find itself in the hands of my nephew and nieces. Despite not necessarily needing this guide for myself, I'm tempted to go buy a second copy directly from the author's website because it's such a well produced product overall. Also, maybe pick up a few of the upgraded motors, flywheels, etc mentioned in the book? Yes, this is a plug. Go give OutOfDarts (dotcom) all the monies!

The book being brand new, it arrived as though someone or several people decided to play Frisbee with the package, and it was taco'd to fit into our mailbox. Perhaps Amazon could be troubled to put a "do not bend friggin' books" on their packages?

The beginner's guide I would have wanted

When I started getting into Nerf mods about a decade ago, the resources for finding out what the heck you were supposed to be doing were pretty thin on the ground. There were a few scattered online resources, but they were mostly obscured by arcane terminology and steep learning curves. The quality of the advice also varied wildly. It was a process of trial and error, mostly error, if I'm being honest. Some years later, Youtube channels started popping up, and I found out that I was not the only weirdo in the world who enjoyed the idea of being able to lodge a dart into my co-workers ear from across the office (bit of a relief for me, less so for my long-suffering co-workers). Outofdarts was one of these channels and I watched everything he put out and learned a lot from him. When I found out that a beginners guide was coming out, I decided to get it, partly in order to show support, and partly to see if there were any tricks that I had missed along the way. It's fair to say the book has exceeded my expectations. The step by step instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow. The terms are defined in a clear and concise manner, with pictures (always a problem when starting out). The links to further reading and viewing material are a great plus. There's even a bit about 3D printing that I'm sure will prove to be a great resource when I finally decide to take a plunge down that road. Overall, I would have preffered this to have been out a decade or so ago, it would have prevented a lot of plastic wastage on my part. Highly recommended for anyone new to the hobby or even veterans who just want this as a resource book in their library.

this is amazing. my son loves nerf guns. what's more-he loves to modify them. this book has clear and easy to follow instructions. it has lots of great ideas. its not just painting guns, its modifying accessories and how they shoot. the only thing I wish it came with-would be a shopping list of how to complete each of the modifications....so parents/friends can purchase the things needed for the mods so you aren't sifting through the book to find them ahead of time. a little shopping list is always helpful. otherwise this book is perfect.

Colorful and informative

Some nice general rules for modifications based on blaster type, as well as some useful tricks and tips applicable to opening and modifying any nerf-type blaster. Fantastic full-color illustrations throughout, with clear photography and pleasant color design and layout. Good advice on tools and techniques. Recommended.

Great gift for my NERF obsessed son

I bought this for my ten year old for a birthday gift. Yes, I know that you can find out all of this info online - but, sometimes, having a book around is still a pretty handy thing. Car rides? Quiet time? Grounded from tablet use? He loves learning about the different modifications as well as the combinations. And, with an arsenal of 30+ NERF guns (I have two boys and a husband who refuses to grow up) he definitely has all of the parts to make most of the suggestions in this book happen. Even his friends at his birthday party thought this was the coolest gift ever. It is the third NERF book we bought and he reads them over and over. Great gift for an active child (or dad) who has a love of all things NERF.

Great starting point

So if I'm being honest I probably didn't personally learn much of anything new from this book, yet I still give it 5 stars. I was/am new to the hobby, but just going around the web already provided me with most of the information I found in this book. But still I read through it and it's an awesome reference and will be GREAT for my kids if they get interested in modding. It's very simple reading, and things are explained well. I wish I had stumbled upon it on day one, but oh well, still worth it.

Nerf Berk

So easy for the reference when you're busy modding streaming on the PC and in a call and don't have a device to spare for googling. Someone knows how to take studio photography. Very easy to see and understand the directions and it's written for all to understand. Definitely for beginners.

This book is honestly the most helpful book for nerfers interested in opening up there blasters. From simple springer mods to intermediate to expert level flywheel mods, this guide is AMAZING! It covers basic electrical engineering with wiring, soldering, and learning about circuits; as well as in-depth instructions about painting, 3D-printing, and finding solid online resources. 10/10

Even before I finished reading the book, I was already looking forward to giving it a very positive review. It is extremely well presented and informative, using a great combination of user-friendly text and high-quality, well-detailed photographs. I highly recommend it to foam-blaster enthusiasts, regardless of whether of not they are likely to actually modify any of their blasters.
