Fun coloring book for Harry Potter Fans but has some issues which effect coloring - printed on bothby iiiireader (4 out of 5 stars)

Attached to this review will be a silent flip-through of the entire coloring book so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it will work for you.
Rather than discuss how this is like or different from the books and/or movie series except to note that the iconic images seem to be taken primarily from the movie, I will discuss only how I feel about it as an adult coloring book.
The book is illustrated by a variety of artists and it shows. Some of the designs are simply drawn and some are complex, a few with small intricate details that may be difficult to color. I am really glad that they did not over draw the faces with too much detail as I will be able to add my own blending (this was a problem with the recent Sherlock coloring book.) Some of the designs are quite heavy on black spaces - something I would have preferred to put in myself. Otherwise, the designs are well done artistically. They have included glossy pages at the end of the book - perhaps so we can know what colors are to be used or simply as a fun addition to the book.
The book is printed on both sides of off-white heavyweight and non-perforated paper. A good number of the designs are printed across two pages and merge into the bind (which is glued rather than sewn.) I did a count and this is what I came up with: 40 one page designs, 4 of which are "wallpaper" repeating patterns; 19 designs spread across two pages - 5 of which are wallpaper style designs. Unfortunately, a good many of the iconic scenes were in the ones that were spread across two sheets. I was able to bend the binding enough to get the book to lay flat and found that the pages lines up very well and I didn't lose any of the picture into the binding itself.
What was weird for me is the smell of the book. I can only think that it is the ink and/or the paper but I had several individuals smell it and we all said it was reminiscent of mildew. I've bought inexpensive paperback books in the past with the same odor and I have never been able to figure out what it is. It is not mildew but it kind of smells like it. The smell is present inside and also on the cover. If you are sensitive to scent, you may want to take this into consideration.
I tested my coloring tools: all markers bleed through though Staedler triplus fineliners merely left a shadow of color rather than full ink - but you could tell what the color was from the back of the page. Gel pens did not leak through but again, there was a very light shadow. The paper did well with various coloring pencils.
In the end, the fact that ink could leak through and the pages were printed doubled sided was enough for me to take away a point. It forces me into coloring pencils of losing part of the book. I wish the book had perforated paper but I don't detract for that. The odor - well, that may be only a few books, so again, I won't take away for that but do check to see if yours has a similar smell.
This coloring book is made of super high-quality paper (I'd say about 28lb) and gold embellishments

So I am a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd, so when I heard about these coloring books I immediately pre-ordered them ALL. Now I did get this a little late, a couple days after the release date but that was okay with me I didn't absolutely need it that day. This coloring book is made of super high-quality paper (I'd say about 28lb) and gold embellishments make this more "grown up". There are color pictures towards the end that you can use for reference if you need to. I counted 82 coloring pages and 16 color pages, although I may be off by a page or two. There is a good variety of pattern coloring and portrait coloring. Overall I am so impressed and this is the perfect gift for any potter-heads you know :)
~ Not Perfect, but still Fun & Relaxing for Harry Potter Fans ~

I purchased this Harry Potter Coloring Book for my adult daughter, who is one of the biggest Harry Potter fans out there, of this I am sure. She has pretty much memorized each of the books, she has listened and re-listened to them on CD so many times and read and re-read them several times as well. While she was very excited to receive this coloring book and the illustrations are not bad, it definitely is not up to snuff with a lot of the very nice adult coloring books out there, though the price is in line with them. That being said, with the pictures more simple than some of the coloring books, it is easier for her to actually complete coloring a picture while her children are napping or after they are in bed and it provides lovely relaxing coloring therapy for her, and then allowing her more time for her other more necessary chores. It's fun for her to color the familiar people and objects and she has enjoyed it very much. Besides using it for her "me" time, she will also color with her little ones; she, in her book, they in theirs. The pages in this book are medium paper and the pictures are on both sides, so you do need to watch what you color with. Pencils are best. Gel pens will likely leave indentations on the other side of the picture.
Probably not as useful for small children due to the very small detail ...

This was a gift to my wife. It is a young adult - adult coloring book. Probably not as useful for small children due to the very small detail work in the book. However that's what makes it a 5 star item - it gets its target audience and has images that are detailed, take time to complete, and are very in tune with images from the movies, illustrations from the books, and descriptions from the text of the book (all info as-per my wife).
It meets her expectations, and for 10 dollars, the value is there due to the time to complete a page and the number of pages.
The paper is thicker than traditional coloring books for children and lends itself to the coloring. You do not imprint on pages below unless you really press hard on the page. My wife doesn't remove pages from the book but she indicated it would be easy to do without hurting the binding of the book. However she said it did not have perforations to assist in page removal. Again though, she insisted that for an adult coloring book it would not be a desirable trait.
Overall she is very happy with this gift and the quality of the product.
Accurate and lots of details. Great for HP fans!

I do not claim to be an expert in coloring nor do I have much experience with it at all, so excuse my lack of enthusiasm coloring the little details. The pictures I posted are just to show some of the pics in the book. I do like everything about the book, even tho I won't "waste my time" coloring the frames and much of the surroundings of each picture. It is my first coloring book ever, and I am trying to learn to be a bit more patient and sit still for a while (ADHD kid). I'm a big HP fan, so in that sense, the book is great: the drawings are pretty accurate representing scenes from the movies and the book provides some colored pictures in the end to be used as template. Some stuff I colored by memory, others I googled, while others I just tried to be creative. Overall, a great book to color: lots of details and numerous pictures.
Great for Harry Potter fan's

I bought this for my adopted daughter for Christmas.
She is a huge Harry Potter fan and is going to love this coloring book.
Adult style coloring books are all the rage right now. I glanced through the pages and there are some pretty intricate designs. So I would definitely say an older child maybe 12+.
There are 96 pages in this coloring book.
I love the cover, so rich looking.
Since these types of coloring books have designs on front and back of the pages, I would recommend colored pencils for coloring.
Also this paperback is pretty stiff, and I can see where it will seem to be kind of hard to get all the coloring in the 2 piece design. I did not want to bend the book and create a crease, since this is going to be a gift, I will let the recipient bend the book and hopefully be able to utilize the full design.
Some reviewers noticed a smell in their books. I am very sensitive to smell and did not notice any smell on the book I received.
fun stuff!!!!

I'm going to just duplicate my answers for each of the large coloring books as they're all done by the same company and, therefore, very similar in set up and style.
Very well drawn and detailed.
While some people will, or have, no doubt, complain[ed] that some pics are 2 pages and joined so far down in the spine that they cannot be torn out to display. O_o ...Um...I'm going on 59. I don't display my coloring book pages on my walls or fridge. nope. stopped that in grade school. no matter how pretty i think they are or how well i did or didn't color them...just, NO.
no offense meant to those of you who consider that bit of information to be of vital importance. I'm truly sorry if you thought that this was offensive and an intentional barb thrown in your direction. Nope.
It was meant to be a subtle nudge of assistance.

Such a fun detailed coloring book! I finally understand the Adult Coloring Book hype. Very relaxing. They make your creative juices come alive! I have only colored the first three pages, but have enjoyed every minute. I have been using Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils to have vibrant colors that blend easily. I will be buying more coloring books in the future. Especially Harry Potter :)
It is just okay...at best.

I was very excited for this book, especially as I saw it just weeks after my sister and I went to Harry Potter World in Orlando for a girls weekend. I was disappointed that it was back ordered and took several weeks longer to arrive. I found the pages to be quite bland. I did not think it was a a great representation of what the books and movies had done with Harry Potter. While it was not what I expected, and lacked in the artistic styling I thought Harry Potter and associates deserved, I still do enjoy coloring in this when my kids and I color, however, it is absolutely not my go to adult coloring book.
Basically, this coloring book is okay at best, there are many many more other books to select from and I would probably spend my money on others before I would buy one like this again.
I think that is a nice feature, however

I got this for my future son in law and he is thrilled with it! He and my daughter have both jumped on the Adult Coloring Book bandwagon, and prior to getting this book , he was coloring in her books. He loves the fact that he has a book that is geared toward him more than her.
The pages are different than some other Adult Coloring Books I have seen and used. Some of the pages are single design, and then some you open the book and both pages , right and left side , is one big picture. I think that is a nice feature, however, it makes it hard to color the entire thing. I did take off one star for that, simply because it makes it heard to color the entire design at that point. Having said that the rest of the pictures are great! There are a several different levels of difficulty in this book, so it is perfect for eveybody! I paid retail price for this product, with no promise for a review.
