Maybe not for the younger kiddies, but for the adults? This RULES.by Robert Beveridge (4 out of 5 stars)

Matt Mogk, That's Not Your Mommy Anymore: A Zombie Tale (Ulysses Press, 2011)
Not terribly sure I have anything to say about this charming-yet-nasty little volume that hasn't already been said, but by cracky, it's a bundle of fun. I'm not too sure it's going to get read to the kid any time soon (and I say this as someone with a kid who at the impressionable age of five months is already riveted by movies like La Horde and The Call of Cthulhu), because some of the (wonderful) illustrations have details that are perhaps a bit on the disturbing side for younger eyes, but as a zombie-loving adult, I found it irresistible, in the tradition of "this looks a lot like kidlit, but it really isn't" (think Goodnight Keith Moon here, but without riffing on an existing classic). Whether you do or do not have little ones running around, if you're a zombie fan, I can't recommend this one highly enough. ****
Gift loved by 2, 7, and 25 year olds

This shipped to family an ocean away, so I only read what's available in the "Look Inside" preview.
The seven year old hated reading like nothing else on this planet, but after an infusion of monster, zombie, garden*, and ninja books, he now reads this to the 2 year old voluntarily. Hooray! I smell the sweet zombie stench of success!
It's an easy read, but having to read the ninja books and Diary of a Wimpy Kid involuntarily gave him the courage to read this one without being forced.
The 25 year old loves the inappropriate hilarity of the subject matter, and the two year old just isn't picky. She prefers books with ducks, but it's so novel to have the 7yo read to her that she sits through it just fine, and giggles at mostly the right spots.
*the kid has a sweet garden all of his own. What, you can't like ninjas, zombies, AND gardens?
Great fun for the whole family

I have 6 kids, ages 1 year through 10. The one year old really has no opinion on the book, the other 5 love it. It is the perfect length to get the message across and be fun. Any longer, the gag would fail. None of my kids were really concerned about either parent really turning into a zombie (despite my best efforts to convince them it really could happen). I imagine if a child really was, a simple, "zombies aren't real, but if there was an emergency and Mommy or Daddy couldn't help you..." discussion would solve any issues. If you are looking to talk to your kids about emergency preparedness, responsibility or anything like that, this book could be a fun jumping off point.
Fun book, my kids love it. It is their second favorite, right after "Tomatoes from Mars," and like that book, this one is not an annoying pain to read to them over and over. It is in our "bed time stories" stack now.

My Grandnephew has been waking up for many nights now, wondering when his mother will be turning into a Zombie. She has at time turned into a Monster, A Screaming Banshee, a terrifying Harpy, a Subdued Princess, a Strong Willed Mother figure, but alas, not yet a Zombie. My Grandnephew wishes to hear the story time, and time again, all in the hopes that his mother will be Zombified.
I do have a plan. I am removing all coffee products from the house in the hopes his literary wish comes true.
Buy the book.

This is a cute, twisted take on children's books. A wonderful way to turn your children into the twisted kind of people that would read this book in the first place
Great Adult Kid's Book

A play on the highly illustrated and rhyming books that kids seems to love so much, this one is about a boy's slow acceptance of his mother's new role in life: that of undead murderer.
The dog remains his faithful companion, and we all wish our heroes well as they attempt to stave off a litany of zombie mutants.
This book is great, its rhymes are clean
Just don't show kids 'til they're pre-teen.

If you are a big fan of Zombie movies and a parent or parent to be, this is a great book for Dad or Mom.
My husband and I love horror movies, and this being our first Father's day I wanted to get him something suited for it. The book is a well written spoof of a childrens book, the art work is clever and a bit gory. All what a fan of all things zombie needs.

This is a cute book. My husband and I wanted to get some thing for our 3 year old son that teaches him something's about zombies and keeps him entertained while doing so. The illustrations in this book are amazing. The rhymes are cute. I'm so glad there is a children's book about zombies. Then after m oldest son is done with the book. His little brother can read it. :)

I think this book is hilarious.
After recent local events, (ie; face eating) I thought it might be time to have the old zombie chat with my seven-year-old. This is a delicate subject to bring up with such a young child without going all "Walking Dead" on him.
The rhymes are soothing, Suess-esque. The text is easy for him to read on his own, and the pictures are quite amusing. But best of all, I know that he at least my son has the beginning of an idea what to do, if I am mauled and can no longer protect him.
A must for every family.
If Dr. Seuss did the Zombie Apocalypse it would have sounded like this!

Considering the CDC's latest promotion to be ready for the Zombie Apocalypse, well this book would help the little ones clue in when Mommy might not be Mommy anymore (that's not your Mommy in the rain, that's not your Mommy eating brains...).
Seriously though, my 8 year old was howling with laughter and so was I! Though it reads like a Dr. Seuss I would not read it to a 4-6 year old..but 7 and up (depending on the individual child of course) this is fun. Parents should use their own discretion of course. Even if it's too much for a particular little one now, older children and the parents can snicker over it on their own.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
