Product Description

Zombie Fluxx takes the award-winning card game Fluxx and cranks up the fun with a Zombie uprising. The Zombies arrive in the form of a new type of card, called the Creeper, which hangs around in front of you, preventing you from winning.

The good news is, the Keepers include a Shotgun and a Chainsaw and various other things you can use as weapons against the Zombies. Plus you've got Sandwiches and Coffee and a couple of Friends to help you win.

The bad news is, if your Friends become Zombies, you'll have to destroy them. Welcome to the dark side of Fluxx, the card game of ever-changing rules!

Fluctuating Rules, and Sheer Undead Chaos; How Fun!
by R. B. Ray (5 out of 5 stars)
March 11, 2013

Zombie Fluxx is a entry in the line of 'Fluxx' card games. It is not an expansion, but a separate game fully playable by itself.

What you get:

One set of rules.

One Fluxx Ad

and
100 Cards divided into several categories:
(15) Keepers- Cards that represent positive things, such as friends, gasoline, shotguns, etc. Most Goals require certain Keepers.
(15) Creepers- If Keepers are cards you want, Creepers are the ones you don't. They represent Zombies
(24) New Rules- The cornerstone of Fluxx. The Rules constantly change with these cards.
(23) Actions- Cards that are one time playable and resolved as soon as played.
(21) Goals- These cards are placed, one at a time, as victory conditions for the game. They constantly change.
(1) Ungoal- This particular card allows for a complete defeat of all players.
(1) Basic Rules- The first card to sit on the table. It tells players to Draw one, and play one every turn.

All of these lovely cards are contained within a box, in which they lay divided in half.

Gameplay:

Start with each player getting 3 cards. Draw one, Play one. Easy, right? Well, kinda. Until the new rule cards come out that have you groaning like a zombie as you draw a Zombie Creeper, or drawing four cards at a time instead of one. But enough about the rules, you need to know what the goal is, right? Well the goal changes just as often as the rules. If you thought that an outbreak of Zombies is a thing of chaos, just wait until the ever-changing rules and goals of Zombie Fluxx get you.

There is a Flame-Thrower expansion for this deck, as well as Promo packs to help expand your addiction.

In conclusion: I recommend Zombie Fluxx for both gamers, and non-gamers alike. We use it as a diversion from more serious games, or as a closer for the night.

Great iteration of Fluxx for zombie fanatics
by Heiligerdankgesang (4 out of 5 stars)

Fluxx is a wonderful card game that's easy to teach and pick up, quick to play, and great fun in small groups. It's slightly different than the average card game - some of the game mechanics are alterable by cards that can be played during your turn. This allows the game to be interesting and unpredictable time after time, heightening replay value. Bang for the buck, I think the Fluxx series of card games is one of the best in the board game world today.

This particular version, as I'm sure is readily apparent from the title, is zombie themed. Think of taking a shotgun to zombies, escaping with your friends in a car, or becoming a zombie yourself in order to win! While I'm not the biggest proponent of zombie themed things, it's definitely well executed.

The only thing that prevents Zombie Fluxx from receiving five stars is the fact that regular Fluxx feels like a slightly more balanced game. I'd take Fluxx over Zombie Fluxx any day of the week because of the better ratio of the different types of cards.

All in all, I highly recommend it!

Our current favorite game!
by iKarith (5 out of 5 stars)

This game is so simple to teach, and so fun to play, that it has quickly become our favorite game. It's perhaps not the easiest Fluxx to start with (Family Fluxx is easier), but it's just loads of fun. The basic rules are easy enough: On your turn, you draw a card and you play a card. Generally. Except there are cards that change the rules and they WILL be played. The rule change takes effect the moment it's played, which leads to all sorts of interesting strategies about when to play what... Even the game's objective can change. That's why it's called Fluxx. :)

Creepers behave a little differently than other variants like Star Fluxx in that zombie creepers don't actually attach to anything, which simplifies the mechanic a little for players who might otherwise think that's a complicated aspect of the game. It's really not-the only complexity is that when you draw a zombie, it goes directly into play in front of you and you draw a card to replace it.

If you like Fluxx, or zombies, or are into preparedness (if you're prepared for the "zombie apocalypse", you're ready for anything, right?), or you just want a fun way to spend a bit of time with a friend or three, pick up this game!

I enjoy how the fluxx games are easy to learn and how the rules may be constantly changing, I was able to teach a 8 year old the game in like 5 minutes, and I kept losing...

I chose zombie fluxx after reading some reviews and I wasn't really into the other themes and this version with the different type of creepers and how they work together seems really fun.

I would say this game has a high replay value, could be a quick filler game or may take a while to finish.

For older kids, or grown-ups
by Simone Y. Regan (5 out of 5 stars)

Holy cow this is a fun card game. All of the fluxx's are fairly fun, but I am a zombie nut, so . . . well this is the one I LOVE. I wouldn't really recommend it for younger kids, but our 8 year old plays it, but he is at a chess-playing/hardyboys reading level (there isn't anything offensive or overly graphic on any of the cards, it just is a bit much for kids without really good reading/cognitive skills).

Now, if you aren't familiar with fluxx it may come off as complicated and hard to learn . . . just give it a few runs through, it really isn't difficult and the cards tell you what to do. Don't let it intimidate you, because it is well worth giving a shot. Again, it SEEMS complicated but once you get to playing it, it's a blast (and not difficult). It gets especially more fun as you start getting to know the cards.

This game is totally a social one, fun to play at restaurants while waiting for your food, or around the house with friends. LOVE Fluxx, LOVE LOVE LOVE Zombie fluxx. [also, all fluxx's can work with one another, if you want the game to last longer and or more complicated. The zombie fluxx and the monty python fluxx are a super funny combo].

The same fun as the other Fluxx games, with a Zombie theme.
by Michael Wagner (4 out of 5 stars)

If you have played any of the Fluxx games, you know how to play this one. It has a Zombie Theme (Surprise?). A quick game, with replay value, humor, and a decent light-hearted competition between the players, this game is good for a few people without the time or inclination to play a more difficult game. The rules are simple (although they can change throughout the game via the cards), you draw a specific number of cards, can hold a specific number of cards, and can play a specific number of cards--while trying to stay clear of zombies. Cards change the number you can draw, hold and play, as well as the specific cards you need in front of you to win the game. Cards can be stolen, wiped away, and a goal change can take all your hard work and wash it down the drain--or cause you to win in an instant, out of sheer luck.

Awesome Zombie Fun
by D. Campione (5 out of 5 stars)

First, I don't have children. My husband and I wanted to play something fun at home, or have something to take to a family get together. Sometimes it's hard to find clever games for just 2 (or more) people. But this definitely takes the cake.

It's pretty easy to learn. It was easier for me because he played it at work. Basically, read the rules, then just play a few hands to get used to it. The rules are written on each card and it keeps changing as you play the game. A game can last just a few minutes to about a half hour from what I can tell.

We got version 4.0 and the Zombie Fluxx. They play about the same and I like them both. You can even combine them, or take a few cards from one and mix them with the original deck. The backs are all the same so that they blend together.

The Original Fluxx won an award from Mensa in 1997 and I can see why. We played for a couple of hours and laughed and had a great time. You have to think and keep up with the cards that are in play, but it's all on the table in front of you so it's not hard.

You'll use your mind, use some strategy and have a lot of fun all at once. There's even a family Fluxx which I think is a bit easier for younger kids.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this game for just about anyone. I have already decided to buy a few more decks and give them as gifts.

But of a challenge, but a blast!
by Victoria Mae (5 out of 5 stars)

First off, I want to say that I play this game with my kids ages 11, 10 and 9. I've even taken it to work and let some coworkers have at it on break. It's quite a bit of fun, and has the ability to go on much longer than I expected. That said, it can be a bit confusing (especially for kids) if you start playing with the zombies included. We followed the instructions on which cards to remove until we got the hang of it, and now it's a blast. The fact that it's constantly changing is really what keeps you interested in the game. Highly recommended!

Easy to pick up card game that will leave you groaning for more
by Scotty H. (4 out of 5 stars)

Typically I have found that this game lends itself easily to new players. The mechanics ensure that the rules are simple and straight-forward to begin with, yet get more complicated as the game is played. The cards themselves explain everything needed to know. We've played this game with both newcomers and seasoned players, and have found that it works well in both instances.

PROS
- Game play and cards are easy to understand.
- There's no setup.
- You're left constantly thinking as your strategy constantly changes.

CONS
- First play-through normally requires a quick game without the zombies.
- Games can last up to an hour, depending on how often/crazy the rules change.
- Can get overwhelming as lots of new rules are introduced.

CONCLUSION

Very happy with this zombie-themed card game. It's fun and constantly keeps you thinking and planning ahead. The cards explain themselves, making the rules very easy to understand. A must have for anyone who enjoys a quick, fast-paced card game.

Love it!

My in-laws introduced us to Monty Python Fluxx and we had so much fun that I decided to get Zombie Fluxx for my 13-year-old stepson. We've had hours of silly undead fun! He always takes the game when he goes to visit friends and he brings it out every time we have company here. We have 7, 8, 9, 11, and 13-year-old boys and they all love it. The two youngest sometimes need a little help but once they've played for a little while, they catch on quick. The cousins recently got Pirate Fluxx and it's been a hit as well. Now the only problem we have is figuring out which version to play first when we have family get-togethers!
