Add some sand to the base and the set will hold up to severe thunderstorm winds. Nicely made. Adds to seasonal family fun and parent-child interactions. Little kids are in awe. Bigger ones can't wait to play/learn the game. NOTE: Do NOT try to sit out a game. You won't be able to "see" the battlefield. No wonder generals want to be strategically positioned on high ground. We installed some patio bar stools around the "board" ... made from 16" x 16" patio pavers in grey and red ... for a better view when planning a move. Could not ask for more. A little pricey, but hoping the set will last for a few years. RECOMMEND.

Very sturdy and easy to set up. Works well in the weather even strong winds. I've never had any blow around other than one or two turn over in 30-40 mph wind. Make sure you fill the bottom up with water before you screw them together and you're all set.

I made a giant chess board in my back yard with those little less-than-a-buck stepping stones from home depot, in red and grey. It looks great, and we have been enjoying playing chess. Lot more fun and social than a tabletop game.

This chess set is easy to set up and very durable. We filled the bottoms with sand because we live in a windy area. They were light enough for 4 years old to lift but heavy enough to withstand the wind. Fit nicely on one foot square cement pavers that we used to make an outdoor chess board on. We are one hundred percent happy with the set.

Thought this would be a fun Christmas gift for the entire family and it was. Easy to assemble (each chess piece is two parts that screw together). Also bought the giant board. The board looks time consuming to snap together but we just laid the tiles together w/out connecting and it works just fine. A lot of fun to play and seems durable. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
