Product Description

It's said that "seeing is believing", and that accurately describes the compelling 3-D illusions produced by the Mirage: small, full-color holograms with natural, lifelike appearance, and allowing for 360-degree viewing. To achieve these effects, the Mirage uses a patented technology of two concealed and opposing parabolic mirrors. Its overall appearance resembles two small cooking woks placed on top of each other, with a 2" circular hole cut in one of them.

Place the physical object that you want converted to a hologram in the concave center of the bottom mirror, and a hologram will instantly be projected up through the aperture that is opposite it, appearing to the viewer as if it were a truly solid object. Powered by ambient light and without film, no special skills or training are needed to operate the Mirage.

It is the perfect thing to explore the world of optics, and can be used in a wide range of disciplines from kindergarten and math, to special education and physics.

The Mirage is 9" in diameter, and comes with a user manual and a small pink piggie as your first illusionary object. Stick with that, or create your own mirages using objects from your office or around the house. You can even take pictures of the Mirage, and have your illusionnary projection show up in them. The mirrored surface of the Mirage includes Micro-Glas Mirror Protection to help protect the mirrored surfaces of the Mirage from scuffs and scratches.

Works well, but it had dirt mark when I receive it. I decided to clean it with a wet Kleenex has suggested in the documentation, and it removed the reflective paint. I am sad to have destroyed it just by following the instruction. I think there is no way to clean it without destroying it, even a little fingerprint.

Simple but Advanced Technology at a Reasonable Price

We bought this as an Xmas gift for our 6-year-old granddaughter. She loves it - and it's potentially a great learning toy as well.

What's also great about it is that it requires no batteries, no electricity, and no assembly!

My only suggestion is, since only small objects (i.e., 1 cubic inch or smaller) can be used to create the hologram effect and since soft objects are best (so as to not scratch the mirrors), it would be great to include a half dozen or more suitable small objects to use with it. (It does include a one small rubber pig.)

The product works exactly as described. I put in a polished rock and a hologram of it appeared on top. It looks real that all of my friends are surprised when they can't touch it.

The bad thing about this is that it is looks really cheap. This is just two pieces of low quality plastic with reflective coating on the inside (if they made the exterior look nicer, I could actually use it as a decorative piece). Also, the hologram also only works if the item is placed at about desk level when the viewer is standing up.

My 13 year old son wanted this item for his birthday. I was skeptical but once he opened it at his party it was the absolute Hit of the hour. Really amazing... no batteries, nothing complicated at all about it yet it produces an amazing illusion of any small object (roughly 1/2" square or a coin).

I have since seen a knock off version of this at a toy store and that one did not even compare. One thing I did notice is the inside mirror can easily get scratched up from dropping small metal objects in it, so just be careful how you place items inside and it will amaze all your friends for years to come.

This is a top-of-the-line Hologram maker. I researched a lot before purchasing, and was not disappointed. I would not recommend it for smaller children (it is perfect for my mature 8-yr-old, but not my hyper 6-yr-old), as the internal mirrors require a lot of tender care. It comes with a cute small plastic pig, but you can use any small item. My kids love using mini Star Wars figures ("Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope") for a true hologram experience. As long as you take good care of it, it is a fabulous toy and conversation piece.

We purchased this for our kids and they love it. They are ages 6 & 4 and they have really enjoyed using the mirage 3-D Hologram maker.

This is to be used with very small objects. Ours came with a little pig instead of a frog or strawberry. Our kids immediately tried putting larger objects to find out they are distorted. A classic "army man" or "GI-Joe" toy/figurine is too big.

Works really well but you have to use relatively small objects to get the full effect. Grandkids are fascinated by it. Haven't had any of the mirror issues other reviewers has reported on. You just have to be careful.

Simply amazing optical illusion. It is only completely effective when viewed from a range of angles - but it is completely convincing when you are viewing in this range. Objects that can be used with this size mirage are kind of small, but it is probably not worth getting the larger size mirage because of the cost. This is a nice novelty item for someone with an empty desk. My 4 year old son does not want to give up trying to grab the small plastic pig that I placed inside from the image on top. Be very gentle when washing the inner mirrored surface (to remove dust buildup after months) or you may scratch it and diminish the effect.
