Great pans, whichever size you choose, but I prefer the largerby Diane (5 out of 5 stars)

Both sizes of these pans are excellent, quality pans that make beautiful scones and cornbread. I own both sizes.
However, I prefer the larger one for two reasons:
First, the larger pan is much easier to clean--fewer small areas and corners to get into. Both pans have a great non stick finish, but it always seems like a good idea to make contact with all edges when cleaning and it's just super easy with the larger pan.
Secondly, I find the overall texture of the finished baked goods more to my liking using the large one--a larger area of the scone or cornbread is that soft center part. I find the mini ones create a higher ratio of edge to center, if that makes sense. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not my preference.
If I were wanting to feed quite a few people I would reach for the mini pan which makes more at one time. Otherwise, I find myself consistently preferring the larger.

My favorite cousin is having a birthday party with an afternoon tea (Kentucky Derby style), thus I had an excuse to purchase this particular scone pan. Before I tell you how awesome it is, please know that I scavenged other websites and stores for a mini-scone pan and did not have great success in finding one that I wanted for the price I wanted. As an Amazon Prime member, I am used to the quick shipping.
This pan is non-stick; however, that does not mean that the baker should not use a cooking spray. It does bake even, and one will likely be pleased with the results. In addition to the non stick surface and even baking, one can easily remove the scones and create 16 scones at one time, instead of working with a larger scone pan that produces less. I had no problems using this item, and I am quite pleased with my purchase.
This is my second Nordic Ware item; the first was the 12 cup poundcake/angel food cake pan. It works just as well. Beautiful, golden brown pastries.
I'm really happy with this purchase

I purchased the Nordic Ware Cast Aluminum Mini-Scone Pan because I wanted my scones to bake in a more traditional triangular form. The baked scones are small, but not too small. I usually bake Stick Fingers Scones in this pan and I spray the pan with Pam. The scones release from the pan perfectly and clean up is a breeze. Just a swipe with a soapy sponge and the pan is clean. I'm really happy with this purchase!
Wonderful Pan!

I just recently purchased this mini-scone pan - based on a number of positive comments posted here (thank you!) - and I will add my voice to the crowd that it is wonderful! So far, I've baked three batches of scones, and one batch of cornbread -- all with outstanding results. My standard 9-inch pan baking recipes "fit" perfectly in this pan (no excess batter), and the baked goods always release nicely - meaning they just fall right out onto the cooling rack. I will comment that thicker batters require a little bit of "encouragement," with a small spoon, to nudge them into the corners, but this is very easy to do, and the end result is well worth it. The pan also washes up easily. Highly recommended.

These are great scone pans. Highly recommend using a flour-based cooking spray before putting in batter. Best cleaning in dishwasher. Fabulous results for my business.
Great little pan

Used the recipe printed on the pan's cardboard wrapper to make mini scones. Substituted blueberries for the choc chips. Scones were really good. Some burnt on blueberry juice but it cleaned up so quickly with no scrubbing. Buttered and floured the wells and the scones popped out easily. A wonderful pan.
Probably a good pan for baking cake dough, but not necessarily for scones

I got this pan for making scones but unfortunately am dissatisfied with the results. The pan's design seems to hold in too much moisture and am disappointed that the texture is just not what I expect of a scone. It does seem like a well-made and durable pan, so maybe I can re-purpose it for things like mini-cakes where it will work better.
I Love This Pan!

This pan is fabulous! I am a huge fan of scones, but never managed to cut them into neat, tidy triangles, so always resorted to patting the dough out into a circle and scoring it. This nifty pan takes care of the triangles. Just put the dough into the 16 triangles, pop the pan in the oven, and bake. The scones come out golden. Turn the pan upside down, give a couple of quick shakes and the scones slide right out. Since buying this pan, I have used it exclusively for my scones.
When first using the Mini-Scone pan, I was concerned the smaller size of the scones would mean a shorter baking time. I baked several recipes in the pan, and the cooking time was not affected.
The only drawback is the pan is not dishwasher safe. Since it is non-stick it cleans quickly with some sudsy water and a rinse.

A Mile High Delight!

I live at high altitude, and although I have wonderful high altitude recipes to use to make scones, I do also love my other recipes from sea level that make tea time DELICIOUS. Until now, that meant courting disaster. Now with this heavy, well made, scone pan, it fits my high altitude needs perfectly. Previously the scone dough would spread out way too far and be an unattractive (yet tasty)shallow blobish triangle. This pan helps to corral the dough in meticulous tiny triangles. Now I have perfect triangles to share at afternoon tea.
I also enjoy the smaller size, because them I can have a couple of varieties out at tea time to share. With smaller scones, I can offer all of the traditional sandwiches and such, and nobody will be over-stuffed.
I still make the traditional shaped ones, and the circle cut out ones for dough that doesn't spread too much, somehow I feel that then it doesn't have a "triangular muffin" look, but this pan has saved me stress. I also own the scottish scone pan. I haven't used it yet, but bigger scones are awesome too.
Give this pan a try. I think you'll love it.

After repeated use, I am very impressed with this scone pan. It continues to bake perfect mini-scones (a better size) and remains easy to clean. Highly recommend this product!!
