How shameful of Marshall...by Common Sense Reviews (2 out of 5 stars)
March 12, 2019
I've used Marshall amps for roughly a decade now and it hasn't ever disappointed me. It's too bad I can't say the same for this one. I didn't see it this way, but for everyone saying it's a toy is completely correct. The clean is whispering in sound. I have to crank it up to halfway to only get the low casual dynamic I play in my home. Which is much quieter than the average player. Turning it all the way up still doesn't cut it as loud at all, and that's coming from me. Someone commented here that it shouldn't be played outside which is also correct. If I can barely hear it in my small laid back room, having minimal outside white noise will be too overpowering for this. I have to try out the other branded micro amps but upon researching videos online, I'm definitely going to other alternatives. This unit is outrageously overpriced for what it is. I thought to myself $35 the most it's worth. And I do mean capped it at that. I think $25 is more "fair" for the market. Realistically, This is where again I agree it really should be $10-$20. This probably costed a grand total of $3 to produce. Even the used prices are still too much. The quality is awful. it's unclear, and the only way to increase the sound is also raising static and fuzz. The instructions like most of these things say in order to make that "effect" happen the louder you need to place it. I honestly just think it's the currents burning through your finger tips is why we hear crackling. I mean, people said this didn't last more than 3 months tops. The handle is designed for decoration and is a slump of plastic. I did not expect the "leather" binding on this as someone else said here, so that's not a huge negative for me. Tone is what matters, not looks. I understand there's only so much to ask for on something so cheap and small, but the price doesn't justify that. The OD is enhanced static and fuzz. The clean isn't really clean and still sounds horrible. Switching from the whispered clean to the OD is a stark difference in volume as well. OD is much more louder as the unit should be, and will make you jump from that. You have to adjust up or down before you switch them or you'll be in for a surprise and may blow your speaker. This may be a core reason why so many people are damaging their mini amps. The only real positives are that this can be plugged in a wall as an alternative power DC9V source instead of using a traditional 9V battery. I don't complain of using those either. I actually prefer 9V instead of 6 AA batteries the Blackstar and others use. AA drain much faster. My favorite feature of this was the belt clip that no other brand offers in their mini models. It has a headphone jack too. If you're ok with staying on OD with garbage sound for portable band practice and don't mind sparing some very loose change, you're going to love this.
Sweet!

Love it. Got it specifically so my son could play his electric guitar while walking around, and it's much louder and clearer than I really expected. He's thrilled with it, and I think it's great.
Is it a replacement for a regular amp? No, but it's not supposed to be. You're not going to be doing a concert for 1,000 people using this, but if you're just playing for yourself or a few friends in a place where pluggin into an outlet is not an option, this is a great choice.
What you get the hubby when he likes to play his guitar in the living room!

My husband loves this little amp. I personally thought it was adorable. It sounds really good for as small as it is. He is a musician and likes to jam around the house. This is easy to bring in the living room and sit on the couch and play his electric guitar. He can also use it for his bass, but it isn't nearly as loud. He says that he figured it was just a little cheap amp, made to look like a Marshall, but he was surprised that it sounded as good as it did. I am very happy with it because it takes up less room and isn't so loud when you want to play in the middle of the living room! We are both very happy with his Christmas present.
Works pretty well with an acoustic guitar too.

I bought this little unit after returning a defective Danelectro Honey Tone micro amp. I play acoustic guitar in a duo with my wife on vocals and I play fingerstyle with no nails so the output is very quiet. We want to do some busking and I was afraid that without a little bit of something people would not be able to hear me. The places we play forbid amplification (like big amps) but I'm hoping this little battery one will get a pass. This unit only gets loud enough to make me about as loud as a strumming guitar player with a pick. I works fairly well. With the volume cranked all the way up and the tone about 3/4's the way up I get a decent amount of added volume, enough to make it worth while. I wanted to post this here as there weren't many people with feedback about using it for an acoustic. I did not try the overdrive channel as, well, it's an acoustic. But if you just need a little bit of volume, this will work. A little pricey compared to the Danelectro Honey Tone but after that one came in broken I figured I'd give this one a try. It certainly looks cool with the little Marshall thing going on. I made a short video and will try to post it here from my phone when I figure out how.
Adorable. I'm in love.

It's so adorable and I was surprised with how loud it gets. Granted, it's super grainy, but still sounds perfectly fine. Would not recommend for actual use, like recording or playing shows, but it would be fun to play with this thing on the street or maybe buy it for your kid who is learning guitar but isn't very good at it so you can avoid the headache while still making them feel like a punk rocker!!
Great Gift For A Guitarist

This was purchased as a gift from my guitar playing son. He loves it. He uses it when he travels and still wants to be able to plug in his electric to work on his playing or music he's writing. It is so compact and puts out a surprising clean loud sound for its size. Very easy to carry around and doesn't take hardly any packing space. This is not a full size amp - don't expect full size sound and conveniences. It's useful for practice, when you can't or don't want to make a lot of loud sound. This was probably the best gift dad and I could have given him on the budget we were on. This was a 2017 Christmas gift. He's had no problems with it at all. He highly recommends this.
pretty cool amp for the size

I bought this Marshall for a couple of reasons. #1: It is made by Marshall and I have never been disappointed in a Marshall product. #2: I needed something small for when I played outdoor gigs on the street that was not so loud that it was annoying, but not so soft that it could not be heard. This things is perfect for that. Really amazed at the sound that comes out of it. great job Marshall.
Disappointing

Really crappy tone. Not sure what I expected from such small amp but even through headphones it is brittle and tinny.
Great little practice amp.

Good practice amp for the bedroom. Just loud enough to hear yourself practice without bothering the rest of the family throughout the house.
very poor sound.
