IF YOU GET WORN OUT BEFORE YOUR DOG DOES........by F. Locke (5 out of 5 stars)

I have a new, young, high energy german shepherd dog who loves to chase balls. Until now, I considered the " holey roller " a very good choice. However, being a retiree with arthritis, the dog could run faster than I could throw it and, worse, he was still raring to go while I was too pooped to pant. Enter the hyper pet ball launcher. I can launch the balls nearly the length of the yard with little effort. Lobs or bouncing grounders, the dog puts out max effort and seems to enjoy himself, besides. Best dog toy since the frisbee. Dogs CAN be trained to bring one ball back before launching the next. Only down side is the slobber on the tennis ball fur which also collects grass, twigs and lord knows what else. It's unavoidable. Might try a fuzz-less ball. Haven't had a problem with the band breaking. The rubber doesn't seem old or stiff.
Replacement bands ( with pouch attached ) are readily available at a reasonable price.
UPDATE:
It's been over a year now and, even though I bought a replacement, the original band is going strong.
I added a piece of rubber pipe insulation to the crossbar of the wrist brace for a better fit.
BTW, the advantage to four balls over the single..... what do you do if the ball goes over the fence or into dense brush where the dog can't find it? Spares are good to have on hand.
In spite of naysayers, this is STILL F I V E. stars.
Wish I could give it a 5 but....REVISED REVIEW

This is the 2nd unit I have bought in last few years, we watch a friends black lab quite often on weekends and he is major excited when we drag this thing out. Would be the perfect dog toy but I break a lot of straps on them, if I can get a strap to last all weekend I'm lucky. Yes I am probably over hard on it, the dog likes you to shoot balls far and high which this beast can do. I read another review about a guy going to try to use a heavier duty tube , might do some more investigating. Anyhow, with the down fall of the weak bands I still have to rec'd a must purchase, can't find anything better and the dog goes wild over it. Just make sure to order 4 or 5 sets of straps and you'll be good
UPDATE - DONT BUY EXTRA STRAPS , THEY ARE JUNK - Order 3/8 Rubber Speargun Tubing (408) Black 10Ft sold by Spearit Group LLC -- Made my own straps, stronger , throws ball farther, and so far after several hours of use has not broke, doesn't even look worn. The original straps will look deteriorated after just of few throws and will eventually just snap and break. Think they make them junky on purpose to sell extra straps, no way you could be the designer and not figure out how to make a better product in my opinion which is disappointing. I'll still leave a 4 because the dog absolutely loves this toy, especially now when it doesn't break every time we go out.
4 ball are better than 1

Nice simple piece of bent metal. Seems there are a lot of complaints about breaking bands. I'm getting some appropriate sized speargun tubing.
I bought this for two purposes
1. To play with my sons dog in the backyard when they visit
2. To launch "throw lines" into trees for climbing and limbing.
The backyard is about 1/4 acre with my farthest potential throw about 100 feet. But I have to be very accurate. This launcher affords me the accuracy for numerous "throws" without my arm wearing out. I can take the hyperactive dog out, sit in my chair on my deck and shoot balls to the back fence accurately till he gets tired.
For launching throw lines it's excellent. There is a similar product called the "Big Shot" for launching throw lines but it's overkill for my trees.
Nice tool.

Works great with a good band. Usually get 40-50 yards on a pull, but max distance is about 80 yards. Shoulder does not hurt after using for an hour.
I LIKE that it is not cheap! Everyone at the dog park always asks where they can get them, but nobody DOES get one. If you watch how people act it becomes clear that many people would probably hurt themselves, or their pet, if they did have one. Common sense is a requirement for using this.
Not that great a launcher

I like "the idea of the hyper pet ball launcher' more than the actual item. It arrived with a broken rubber band. The company replaced the entire unit within a reasonable time. The launcher is actually pretty heavy due to how it needs to be held. And how it needs to be held, I feel, it rather awkward. It's a really big slingshot for tennis balls. Like I said I like the idea. Someone will come along and invent one that is comfortable to use, launches the tennis ball a long way and doesn't tire you out quickly. I kept it because the grandkids get a kick out of it whether it launches correctly or not. (Note: it's actually way too big for any of my grandkids, but they don't know itπ.)
Use ChuckIt! Junior instead

I really like the idea of this product but I'm the end it wasn't very functional. If you're strong enough to hold it's slightly surprising weight straight armed in front of yourself then you probably could throw the ball just as far as this will go...especially if you used an arm extension that increased your leverage like the ChuckIt! Junior which is what won out for me
Broke during first use

I had one of these from the same company years ago for another dog and it was great. However, the quality of their current model is really bad. The metal is cheaper and thinner than the previous, to the point that the handle bent and broke inside during the very first use. I would advise to stay away from this product.
Band Snapped on 2nd Day

I wanted to like this so much. Like everyone else my band snapped at the same spot as everyone else. Seriously, how hard is it to glue those plastic knobs to the end of the rods? My yoke was also bent out of the package. I had to bend it back. The angle of the handle and the ergonomics of the grip is pretty bad. The plus side is it does launch the ball pretty far. I'll order another band but I'm going to be looking for ways to mod this thing to improve the ergonomics and find a way to get those plastic knobs out of the tube to super glue them to the yoke.
Used for Ham Radio Antenna hanger

This was repurposed as a antenna launcher for Ham Radio Antennas.
This works great for that purpose and provides a cost effective way for
launching wires into trees. While it takes a bit of practice, I've been successful
in lobbing an antenna over 70' into a tree!
It's a good product but beware the rubber and dryers out after a while

Excellent!
Very sturdy, Ive had it for almost to months and I've use it almost everyday . it throws the ball further than a normal, arm would and also further than the scoop spoons they use to throw the ball. If you fetch a lot with your dog GET THIS! My dog loves it! I have a Border Collie that loves to fetch and I'm throwing the ball literally across any park, and she runs after it and gets great excersize. The balls are a plus, but you can also throw regular tennis balls. I'm glad I got this, I recommend it.
Edit:
After about six months the rubber and dryer out and broke, can't find a replacement
