Great product, great piece of mind.

One of the best products I've bought on Amazon. I love that I don't have to worry about the kids escaping out of the slider. It installed easy (about 30 mins), there are screws involved so be prepared, 100% worth it my opinion.

It comes with 2 pieces, one goes on the face of the slider and the other inside the track, I tried to get a good picture of it so you can see how it actually works.

The pin that locks the door is spring loaded, all you do is pull down and turn a quarter turn and it's unlocked. Turn it back and the spring activates locking into the installed track hole.

Another nice feature, there is a second stopper further down the track allowing the slider to be opened a few inches for fresh air, but not far enough to let the little ones escape. Can't recommend this product enough!

Oh and I've been using this product for around 2 years and it's held up great. No sticky spring or broken parts. Works just as good as the day I bought it.

he was too smart for everything else I tried

Of all the things I have spent money on this is one of those things that has saved my sanity 1000 times over! If you have a toddler that likes to excavate in your backyard with your kitchen dishes, or likes to bury shoes and clothes, or likes to climb into your chicken coop or pee in your garden, then you NEED this. I could NOT find a way to keep him from sneaking out, he was too smart for everything else I tried, and we eventually put a lock on the top of the door which prevented even adults from going out. It was driving me nuts to have to through my garage and side door to get to my backyard so I was about to just get rid of the toddler, but then I found this and now the toddler gets to stay AND my sanity does also!! Big win! It lets adults twist it to go out but quickly twists back to keep the maniac safely in the house.

Does what it should!

Product does what it should. It locks on the top of sliding door so a kid can't get out. We have a sliding door that is 2 stories high and our toddler learned how to unlock the door so we needed to find something quick. Only down side is opening it in a hurry. For instance, I needed to get my husbands attention in the backyard quickly to tell him our son was about to get hurt on the swing set a couple yards away and I couldn't open the door fast enough. I got anxiety just from trying to open the door, so instead I pounded on the door to get his attention to warn him. I posted pictures to show how it looks.

Be careful you don't lock yourself out!

This works great to keep littles inside or to crack the door open for a breeze without worrying about anyone getting in or out. Just make sure you know how to lock the pull slide open or you will lock yourself out. I ended up using a red marker to easily tell if it was locked or unlocked. Installation was pretty straight forward, just watch the YouTube videos, and you'll know exactly what to do. Only wish it wasn't possible to lock yourself out. Had to climb through a window the first week after installing this before we got used to it.

Good product, really poor installation instructions
by T. North (3 out of 5 stars)

This is a nice lock and it works well. My advice is throw away the installation instructions and just figure it out for yourself. I think I would have been better off doing that. First, don't use that stupid paper template they provide for setting drill holes. It doesn't properly take into account the hight of the lock on the sliding door. My holes ended up being a little too high and I had to legthen the mounting slots a little so I could slide the lock further down. This is OK since these mounting screws are covered, but I wish I had just put the lock on the door and marked the holes that way. The paper template also resulted in me getting my large hole for the locking pin slightly off. I could adjust because the strike plate covers it. But in the end, that paper template did more harm than good for me at least.

Plus the instructions seem to completely omit the need to drill holes for the strike plate. And the screws provided are of poor quality, especially the longer ones for mounting the strike plate into the door frame. The heads are too soft and you can easily strip them. I ended up throwing them away and using sturdier screws.

Best safety thing I have ever bought
by Amazonlady (5 out of 5 stars)

Today is 9/6/18, I purchased this 5 years ago. It is still working! I have it on my back sliding glass door. I love it! It makes me feel safe due to water being near and having little ones. They can't reach it and you have to know how to use it. Also, before you open the door and shut it with you being outside, make sure you have it turned right. It has a couple different functions. You can turn it and it will allow the door to move freely. You can turn it so the door opens, but when you close the door it automatically locks (you will get locked out). You can also use the lock and let the door stay open 2-3 inches. Also, if this mechanism is in place the door can not open, even if the lock that came with your door is unlocked. If mine ever breaks, I would for sure buy this same thing again. Installing it was 4/5. You need some common knowledge and a couple tools, but it's not that bad.

Easy to install on glass slider, and prevents kids from escaping. However, be careful, I have locked myself outside when I shut the door behind me it clicked into place and I couldnt slide the door open!

I have a 95 year old mother with Alzheimer that lives with us.

I searched hard to find a lock for my sliding glass doors that kept her from getting out and wandering.

These are wonderful!!!!!

She can not figure out how they work but they are so easy for the rest of the family..

I rest much eaiser now.

Thank you so much for this wonderful product.

I would recommend this to anyone.

The template is wrong
by Adam Bishop (3 out of 5 stars)
October 31, 2019

The template is folds on two sides, one side for the door and one for the track. The track drill mark is wrong, or was for my door. It had me predrill a hold where the shaft goes into, NOT where the screw does. The screws are also very easy to strip. It sort of works though. The 1st locking does work, the 2nd does not. Not lined up 100%. They need a new template for both screw holes in the channel.

Instructions poor but product apparently works as it should (First review)

I have a swimming pool, a temporary pool fence and don't normally have little kids around. I hate putting up the pool fence, plus my dogs damaged it some and it needs repairs. I have two mischievous toddler nieces coming this weekend and looking for a way to prevent them from getting into the backyard where the pool is. I looked at what Home Depot, Lowes and Babies 'R Us had locally and nothing really seemed quite right (solutions that may work for SOME sliding glass doors but not ours). This product looked promising so I ordered it for next day arrival here on Amazon. It arrived about 14 hours later. I read through all the instructions and got the gist of most of it. I cut out the template like it says and found the template to be ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS!

After a bit, I ended up throwing away all the instructions and making my own instructions. I put the pin in the bracket with the pin cover like the instructions mentioned, but slid the entire assembly up until the pin just touching the top of the door jam when pin extended fully. I then drilled wholes in the sliding door mid-way in each of the adjustable screw slots. I loosely put the "Keeper Plate" in position and drilled the screw holes. I then removed the bracket assembly as I put the long screws in to hold the Keeper Plate snugly to the top door track. I then placed the bracket in place and put short screws into the previously pre-drilled holes. I made tested the entire operation of the locking system before pre-drilling the remaining two non-adjustable screw points and putting in the remaining short screws. I put the screw cover plate on and so far, it seems to work well. Under normal circumstances, like all the "baby-proof" drawers and cupboard doors, the mechanism will be set to be out of the way... I pulled the pin down and twisted it. I can now open and shut the sliding glass door like before anything was done. I then pull and twist it and it will lock. I can open the door a couple inches and it will lock there, or pull again and open it all the way. In this position, I have to be careful myself when *I* go out that I understand the door can lock behind me if I shut the door.

The big test will be this weekend when the nieces are here.
