Great color/bad taste

So as far as the color concentration goes, it was fabulous. I wanted RED and BLACK and I wanted rich color. I made fondant icings and butter cream icings for cupcakes. Note: the color will stain your hands and I had to use bleach on my hands to get them clean. But my only real complaint is that it has a horrible flavor and it made the icing taste bad.

The deep pink color did not disappoint. I am looking to start exclusively using americolor gels as they do not dry out like wilton potted gels do.

The ONLY way to get a Super Black Icing ! No Bleeding...

I had to decorate some cookies recently for my child's sports team - their colors are orange and black.

I was dreading making black royal icing as in the past, I would almost go through an entire bottle of

Wilton gel and it still wouldn't be a "true" black icing. I bought the Americolor Super Black soft gel paste

after reading about it online (from cookie decorators). I was pleasantly surprised by how LITTLE I needed to color

the royal icing. I had put a cup of royal icing in a small bowl and after a 5-6 drops, it was Jet BLACK. Halleluia!

Best of all, the color did not bleed ! This is a game changer...I will no longer dread making black icing. I am becoming a big fan of Americolor gel pastes. I use their Super RED for red velvet cupcakes, and will be buying other colors. It is a lot easier to mix than the Wilton gel colors. If you need to make black icing, order a bottle right now !

Not all buttercream/icing will color the same/at the same rate

It's strange. It doesn't color all forms of buttercream and icing styles the same. I colored a cream cheese icing and it was a very bright red upon finishing the mix. I colored a swiss meringue buttercream and it was a muted ruby red color. I refrigerated the meringue buttercream overnight and it became the same bright red color as the cream cheese icing. It was very strange. So, the color is the same after a while for some buttercream methods and immediate for others. I wouldn't attempt starting a project until you know how long it will take to get to the right color. Adding more gel won't change the color. You don't need too much to achieve a super bright red. It doesn't change the flavor of the icing. Personally, I prefer the wilton color right method over a variety of colorants I've worked with. Americolor is too expensive to get the whole range.

Great Red Color!

After reading through reviews, I decided to take a risk and buy this food coloring for some watermelon cupcakes. I am entirely IMPRESSED with the color. I had taken to buying red frosting any time I needed it, which I disliked because I think it always tasted sub-par. When I would use the Wilton brand gel coloring, I would have to use almost the entire container, and it still wasn't a true red. This coloring I had to use MAYBE a teaspoon for a whole batch of frosting and it was the perfect red "watermelon" color. I am hooked and will try out some other colors. Extremely happy with this purchase.

I had no packaging issues, either, as some other reviewers had.

Amazing Product, Subpar Customer Service

5/5 stars for the product. Amazing how concentrated this stuff is. Instead of having to use a whole bottle to color red velvet, I only need a tablespoon or two.
2/5 stars for customer service. My only issue is with customer service at Americolor. I called because I was having issues with my cupcakes burning after I only changed the dye paste I was using, and they were very front-faced at immediately saying, "Our product is not at fault. It has no burning point as pointed out in the MSDS. No way that our paste could of caused your cupcakes to burn. Are you sure you aren't just baking them too long"? That may be so about not having a burning point, but goodness. No attempt at even trying to help troubleshoot or anything. Just immediate defense.

I finally was able to find a solution, I had to double pan to resolve the issue with burnt bottoms. Just weird that the only thing that was changed is the dye paste, nothing else.

Lovely color

My apples turned out great with this turquoise (going for Tiffany blue) color...however the white didn't do as well. It left little white specs in the candy.
