It only works if you have the spider on a nice, flatby Namastesister (5 out of 5 stars)

This really really works. It's given me a confidence with Spiders I've never had. Now, I am in complete control of my home environment. I always shuddered at the idea of killing a spider, and likewise shudder remembering the few time's i've used "the cup and paper "method that resulted in the escape of a huge spider rapidly across my arm. That won't ever happen again! Ok, one thing though. It only works if you have the spider on a nice, flat, surface. It will not work if the spider is in a corner. Once you have it nabbed in the soft brushes, it isn't going anywhere...and this device allows for one free hand...so you can open the door...carry the spider out and easily set it free. Amazing invention! bravo!
Humane and fun at the same time

This is an awesome little toy for catching elusive creatures who run when they see you coming. I never step on spiders or insects because I think they have as much right to walk around as we do, a concept I had to teach my spouse when I first met him. We enjoyed testing the catcher on the plastic spider that came with it. I actually can't wait to put that fake spider somewhere in plain sight to test the mettle of company who won't leave.
I don't recommend using this device on fragile winged creatures like butterflies, or soft-bodied creatures like caterpillars, or anything that could be easily crushed or punctured by the filaments (Daddy-Long-Legs spiders are harmless and I just capture them by hand). It works on centipedes, beetles and large spiders. Just be gentle and don't snap the thing too hard on them.
So Happy With This Product!

My housemates and I love it! Good build quality despite being all-plastic, and superbly effective at picking up the big spiders that you don't want blotching up your wall. Renders them completely immobile during transport and releasing is just as easy. Love the long reach so you don't have to get too close to the spider.
Though not as effective at immobilizing them, I've successfully used this to pick up stink bugs. The effectiveness depends on the "legginess" of the insect and how well they will get tangled up in the tendrils.
Can't Live Without This!!!

Love, love, love this!!! I am terrified of stink bugs and spiders and although I still cringe while catching them this keeps it far enough away from me so that I can take care of the little critters without crying. Once the winter season is over this is permanently out of the closet. I just bought a second one for my niece.
An good idea in theory but not worth the money.

This product's construction is shoddy. The top part of the handle - the part you squeeze - is bare attached and dislodges unless you hold it in just the right way. I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm trying to get a spider, I don't want something I have to keep adjusting. Also, the brush end opens nicely, but doesn't always close down enough that you'd be able to retain an insect in the bristles. Sometimes it works - sometimes not and I haven't even done any "hunting" yet. Because the packaging has to be ripped apart and would have to be repacked in some type of packaging before shipping back, it's not worth the bother and expense of doing that. I'll just consider it a lesson learned.
What about centipedes?!

I was genuinely impressed with this product! House centipedes are an issue in my house, as nobody wants to get them and they run away quickly, so this item was purchased with centipedes in mind. While this product worked perfectly for spiders I was a little skeptical about this working for centipedes, but I was proven wrong! It worked great and I was easily able to catch the centipedes despite their length and speed. I was very impressed with this product.
The only downside is storage, the hook it came with is a little tricky to hang the spider catcher on since the hook is kind of small. Since it cannot rest on the bristles, we will have to find another way to store it. the bristle protector does make that easier though!
I love the fact that it comes with a plastic spider to practice on! Not only is it cute that it comes with the product, but it is nice to have some practice before going in to quickly catch a spider that might run away!
Not worth the price!! Cheap Plastic

Be warned, the package comes with a large life size realistic looking plastic spider for practicing with - it startled me near to death, lol!! I was impressed with the video of this catcher in action, but in real life it only works on large spiders and other large insects. medium and small bugs crawl right threw the flexible plastic strands so unless you have a lot of large spiders running around your house this is not worth the high price ... we attempted a few times, but ended up having to use the fly swatter instead.
I absolutely love this product

I absolutely love this product! I've struggled for years to catch bugs, spiders etc. without harming them. I used paper towels and sometimes would unintentionally hurt or even kill them since it was hard to determine what pressure to apply. I saw an ad on tv, and immediately bought a spider catcher. I used it many times in the house to peacefully "immigrate" spiders and bugs to an outside location. The handle is conveniently long and prevent potential direct contact with the tiny creatures.
Great product!

This thing is amazing!!! I always feel so bad squishing spiders. They are natural bug control but I just don't really want them in my house. It gently picks them up and I am able to put them outside. It is also great for my kids. They want the bug out of their room and now they just grab the spider catcher and remove it themselves. It is kind of addicting. lol
It works well

It does work well, but don't hang it by the hook they provide. It was constantly falling off onto the floor. The last time the handle broke and I had to throw it away.
