Great idea! Poor Execution
by Rayray (1 out of 5 stars)
December 27, 2017

I am not one to typically write reviews.

When I first found this product I was in love! What a great idea! I read some of the reviews and thought that it was worth a shot. I figured that most of the poor reviews were due to user error or receiving damaged product.

When I first installed the Safe-er-Grip into my shower, I was so excited that it adhered to the wall, surely nothing would go wrong and I was excited that I had gotten it to work! Well, half a leg into shaving and the Safe-er-Grip lost its grip and came crashing into the tub. I tried a total of 4 different tubs/showers, all with different textures on the wall, one completely pores free, as the box states, and it still came crashing down without getting one leg shaved.

I still love this idea, and wish it worked better! i would buy it in a heart beat if they could figure out how to get it to stay on the wall. My mom was so excited because I originally bought her one for travel. She travels all over the world and this would have been perfect for her!

Please come up with a better quality product! It's an amazing idea!

Doesn't work perfectly after all
by Jheneya (3 out of 5 stars)
September 18, 2016

Our shower only has one small ledge/shelf, which is chest level. Shaving my legs is possible, but definitely not convenient or comfortable. This foot rest is exactly what I needed and works perfectly.

The box says to apply it to a dry surface, but that didn't work in our shower. It initially stuck to the wall, but ended up falling off after a couple of hours. I was bummed. I thought the negative reviews were right, but I decided to try again by wetting the tile wall first. That did the trick. It's been a week and it's still on strong. It hasn't budged at all.

Update (change from 5 to 3 stars): unfortunately it does tend to move after a while. It'll stay put while shaving my first leg and if I don't apply much pressure, but by the time I switch to my other leg it slowly starts to slide down the wall. It's still better than nothing, but I'll be looking for a better alternative.

I ended up buying a nice teak stool (which obviously isn't the same price point ...

I agree with most of the reviews here after having this item for about a year. I have a tile surround shower with nowhere to put my legs up for shaving. This will stick for a little while, usually only through the first leg. You cannot put any weight or pressure on it at all so it's virtuallythe same as just holding your own leg up in the air. It fell off the shower wall again during my last shave and that was the final straw. I ended up buying a nice teak stool (which obviously isn't the same price point as this item). I would NOT recommend this item to anyone.

Great when it works, but unreliable
by Tanglewood4 (3 out of 5 stars)

I have large tiles in my shower and thought I would have no problem with this attaching well to the wall. For this product to work correctly, I had to take the following actions:
1. Ensure that the wall was completely dry as well as the suction. Once I did this, it stuck for about 10-14 days, but ONLY IF...
2. When I had my foot propped up on it, I had to be very mindful of keeping my weight on my back leg. If I put weight on the foot rest, it would randomly pop off and I would fall. One time I hit my head on the wall. One time I hit my elbow pretty hard. Once I started being vigilant about keeping the weight on my standing leg, it held to the wall longer.
3. As of today, it will no longer stick longer than a day or two.

I tried putting it on the wall wet, as other reviewers suggested, but that just causes it to slip around. It's really too bad it's unreliable.

Clean soft legs
by gt2011 (5 out of 5 stars)

I have a small 32"x32" square shower and it was impossible to shave in there before this! Have had mine up for 3 days now... It has stayed up since. I am not petite (170lbs), but note that when I place my foot onto the foot rest to shave to balance half of my weight on my foot on the floor, I have not tried administering all of my weight onto the foot rest while shaving.
**UPDATE** 2/8/18

I have had this unit for about 3 weeks and it is still holding on strong! Does it's job.

Great suction, very convenient for shaving legs
by Jen M. (5 out of 5 stars)
June 22, 2016

I wanted to give it a few weeks before I reviewed this because I know it had some negative reviews. First of all, my shower has large plastic tiles. This product is fairly large so if your tiles aren't big, I would assume it could lose suction. I bought this to replace a step stool that was getting quite a mildew build up. I love how convenient this is and much more out of the way than the stool. I haven't put all of my weight on it for fear of it coming off, but it feels pretty sturdy. I applied it following the directions (dry surface) and had no problems. Like I stated earlier, I think you may have some problems if your shower tiles aren't large.

The little gray lever goes down easily enough if you're just practicing
by J (5 out of 5 stars)
August 27, 2017

I was worried about the stability of this foot rest but as the most affordable and renter friendly option, I decided to go for it. The foot rest is installed by placing it on a wall and then pressing down a small lever underneath the actual foot rest to secure the suction cup in place. The little gray lever goes down easily enough if you're just practicing, but actually pressing it against the wall and securing the lever down takes some considerable effort. This is good though, it means the foot rest will actually be able to handle the weight of your leg.

Makes life so much easier!
by hlb (5 out of 5 stars)

We just moved and our full marble standing shower makes it pretty hard to shave your legs. It was becoming pretty annoying. I had no idea such a thing existed until i googled some magical keywords. I noticed a lot of people complaining that it didn't stay but I haven't had any issues. Try running the back under some water and snapping it down to dry tiles. A few times it didn't seem to take but finally I had to apply a ton of pressure to the flip down trigger and it was stuck good. It just takes some patience and finding the right placement. It obviously has to be on a completely flat dry service. I suggest placing it under the shower head so that no water is really running down onto it. Great little product!

Good product for the price
by J. Matt (4 out of 5 stars)

This is a pretty good product. I would say it's about as good as it's going to get for a suction cup step, because the suction cup is pretty heavy duty and locks in place. It will stick to the shower wall for a couple of weeks, but at some point it will start sliding down. I'm 9.5 months pregnant now and it slides down much more frequently than when i weighed 120lbs, so I imagine if you're a larger person this might be more of an ongoing issue. When the shower is clean and the step stays in place it is extremely convenient. It's definitely worth the money.

Save your $$$
by Vdub (1 out of 5 stars)

Save your money. This does not stay on, not on flat tile, not on glass, not if dry or if wet. It has design flaw in that the suction cup is not concave enough when it goes on so doesn't built adequate suction. It just pops off at any time day or night and scares me as it goes thudding around the shower. I am afraid it could break the door or tiles, if it pops off and smacks it. So no go. Great idea, too bad it doesn't work.
