Almost perfect

I docked a star for the inaccurate color of the photo vs. the real product which is a much lighter color. More like a pale margarine rather than the darker yellow. The only place you'll see the actual color of the product though is after you add it to your cart or view it in the thumbnails of your past orders. Kind of curious now if it'll take acrylic paint, so I can try changing its appearance.

Aside from those cosmetic details, this henbag is super cute (albeit a little derpy. Though isn't that why we all liked it? *lol*). The zipper opening, once I have my hand in it as if I were putting something in or pulling something out, shrinks to about 5-5.5" inches wide, so keep this in mind if you have one of those larger wallets. The cloth-lined interior is considerably more roomy in comparison, and there's a small side pocket inside that's about 4.5" W x 4" D. Mine came a bit smooshed like another reviewer's but I'm hoping some time with the hair dryer will help ease out some of the lumpiness.

I was looking forward to receiving my Hen Bag today but when I opened the package I was disappointed. This bag doesn't even come close to resembling the photo with the product listing in color or detail.

It's the same mold with red handles but the finish is way different. What I received is off-white with what looks like urine stains on the backside, behind the wings and where the handle attaches. It's awful. The listing shows a yellow Hen Bag with detailing that makes the feathers stand out. This is either a knock-off or a really bad second.

I'm going to try a replacement. If it looks like the product listing I'll adjust my review accordingly.

This is true... I have literally worn out two other hen bags and decided that I need a new one. I switched to a black satchel and it is SO BORING. People love the hen bag all around the world. I took it to London, France, and Spain...everywhere I went, people were thrilled. It really is a conversation starter and broke down cultural barriers like no amount of well-meaning language butchering could. Anywhere I go, whether it's starbucks or a dive bar, people love the chicken. I decided that since everyone was going to be so nice about it, I would get little gifts to hand out to people who found it amusing, which is why I got the Mini Chickens: [...] They sell them by the gross, and I did not foresee getting through a gross of itty bitty chickens, but people love them. Kids, adults, men, women... everyone loves them. I receive photos from all measure of situations and geographies featuring my chickens having margaritas, sunning themselves, supporting mini gnomes, etc. I think of this bag as a lifestyle.

There is one seriously bad thing about this bag, which is the zipper at the top. It's so fricken small. It takes a lot of work to get anything at all out of the top. Digging for makeup is practically impossible. It's just an unfortunate function of the physiology of the rubber chicken style, but it still is a pain in the butt.

However, at $22, you can not get a better life improvement tool. I truly believe that. Combine it with a taco coin purse, since I hear the matching rubber chicken coin purse sucks.

Cute and funny gimmicky bag

I hand picked this to create a "crazy chicken lady" themed gift set for my wife. I was surprised at the size of it, and the absolutely hilarious look. It is quite catchy looking for a "hen bag"! With that being said, it's a bit small for usable space and lacks organizational pockets. So, it's great as a gag gift, but not so great as a functional everyday purse. It also has a bit of a rubbery smell to it, but it wasn't overpowering to us. All in all, it's a cute and funny gimmicky bag.

So being a student of vintage comedy, when I heard there was a rubber chicken purse I did not hesitate. I was carrying it through Berkeley Bowl, and women were breezing past me saying, "That's an AWESOME purse!" Friends who know me well go crazy over it and say that it's "so you." Plenty of room. My only very minor complaint is that the zipper is more narrow than the bag itself (wish it went all the way to the end of the tail), and I have to turn my wide pocketbook on its side to get it out. That said, if you like the style, go for it. You won't regret it.

Fun bag, but not practical

Ordered this as a "fun" bag as this is the Year of the Rooster 2017. It is large enough to hold a wallet, an umbrella, a pocket camera, a handphone, a fat toiletry pouch that holds all my "girl items". My only dislike is the length/size of the zip opening on top of the bag - it is 6 inches (15cm). To put a regular size ladies wallet or an umbrella inside the bag, I had to slip the item in sideways (not length-wise). I think it will be hard to have to maneuver an item to it's shorter side inside the bag just to take it out of the bag. And of course if you have "big" hands, it will be a struggle to get your hand even inside the bag. Even with my hands (XS Gloves American-Size), it was not easy for me. And the straps are not long enough to carry the bag on my shoulder.

It's a rubber Chicken Purse

My previous yellow Chicken purse lasted several years, my brown one is still going (but because they don't make them anymore I've put it aside). The handle finally snapped on the original yellow purse(though the red fabric covering the handle had not frayed) and I donated it to the preschool for the children to play with. With that said, they shove wooden blocks and actual rocks and all into it and the bottom has held up from nearly a year of their play. It can carry some serious weight without tears or damage. When I inspected it a few days ago to see how it was holding up (and if they'd need a replacement purse), the bottom was still strong despite the fact that it's made of fabric and toddlers were using it constantly. Seriously, it's nearly 5 years old, has been used frequently and maintained a nearly new look to it despite the use and broken handle.

With that said, the purse handles are strong, the zipper opening isn't very large but the body of the chicken is large enough that you can fit in it quite a bit. I've done it.

You will get comments, and they'll all be the same 3 or 4 comments. It's a novelty purse. BUT with that said, it's well constructed and durable.

For the Country Girl at Heart

I bought this hilarious birthday gift for my mom who's a fan of collecting chickens, roosters, and everything that's country related. Whens she opened the present, she had a huge smile on her face and everyone around her was laughing. My mom brought her purse to work and she said everyone loved it! The purse is definitely a conversation starter and everyone wants to feel it to see if it's actually made out of rubber.

The only negative thing I have to say about this purse is the zipper. The zipper is fine but it is a tad bit small for the portion of the purse. You can definitely fit a lot of things inside: a wallet, phone, keys, tampons, and other items. I highly recommend this purse for the country girl at heart!

This bag was so weird that when I saw it I knew I had to have it. I work at a local produce stand/market and we have free roaming chickens on premises... I knew this bag would be a hit! It's roomy and pretty much waterproof (for rainy days). Only thing I don't like about it is the opening. Kinda small. Also its just one large pocket inside.
