Perfect nightstand humidifier...with a little painting.by Chris (5 out of 5 stars)

**Interesting that mine is a different brand. I wonder why???**
Lovin' it! I put this next to my bed on my nightstand and it works awesome! First night I had it on high and woke up the next morning wet from all the mist, that's how strong his little puppy is.
It is able to hold a 1 liter Fiji bottle with no problem. I have another portable humidifier (Hunter) that can only handle a 20oz bottle otherwise the weight prevents it from functioning. **If anyone is having mist problems I would check to see that your bottle isn't too big**
The only gripe I have is that the blue indicator/nightlight is wayyyyy to bright. I put a couple of coats of black plastic spay paint on (you'll see in the picture) and problem solved. I think it makes it look a little more sleek too.
Using a 1 liter bottle it lasted all night (approx 8 hours) with about 1/4 remaining when I woke up.
I just got it so I can't say anything about residue build up or cleaning.
After a year of use, there's pro's and con's

Mehh.
It runs out within a few hours on a higher setting with the small water bottle so in the middle of the night it turns off. You can't put a larger bottle on it either or the water pours out everywhere. I travel in hotel rooms 3-4 days a week. I put the unit on high when I first get into the room to put as much moisture as possible in the air. When I go to bed I fill the bottle up and turn it to a little more than half output. It doesn't make it through the night and I wish it would. I think I sleep much better with it on.
I pack this in my suitcase and it travels well. I do pack an empty bottle to go with it. The hotel rooms are so dry in winter this really helps but doesn't last for the whole time you're asleep. I take the hotel trashcan, turn it upside down on the nightstand and put the humidifier on top of it for the mist to fall down where I am laying. If you just put it on the nightstand the mist falls down to the floor. Tried it a bunch of ways and that's the best way I've found. I don't like that it runs out in the middle of the night and there is a few moments of trial and error with each set up but I honestly think it does help with such dry hotel rooms. It's quick to set up and quick to put back.
No batteries power, a little big and expensive but it worth it.

Initial reviews, but will update in 5 months to see how the unit doing.
I'm impressed at the speed and amount of mist that come out of this small unit. Yes, it more expensive than the fancii and nexgadget but one of this unit will beat 4 of the unit I just mentioned.
I would rather pay $50 for this and it can cover a hotel without problem than the other "portable" product. It a drawback that it didn't have batteries power but that's ok. It come with a small carrying bag and cleaning brush and it a little bulky but it all worth the trouble if your child's doesn't wake up with bloody nose because the air in the hotel room is too dry.
I bought 4 other unit ranging from $20 to $50 but this one is the best for me.
Cleaning could be messy but just be careful and dump the water in the sink before dump it in your luggage.
This Is My New "Go To" For A Better Night Sleep! Thank you!

This is a great portable Humidifier. I would highly suggest it. I did a lot of research and I am glad to have found this unit. I love that it comes with a velvet pouch for easy storage. Its also light weight and fits in my carry-on.
I was worried that the bright blue light would disturb my sleep, ( as the light stays on when the unit is plugged in) I pasted some black duck tape around the cited area ( which seems to work a little bit and I also block the light with a small box in front of it or I would use a towel to surround the bitted area so it would not disturb my sleep. And that actually works as my sleep is not disturbed. ( I get finicky if there are too many lights in the room while I sleep.
Even though I would adjust the humidity control to low, the water always seems to run out sooner than later with a smaller water bottle- I don't think the humidity control button works that well, but I found a better solution by buying a taller disposable water bottle so the humidifier will work for 8+ hours. I t actually holds the taller bottle better than i bought it would ( I was using a smaller water bottle and it only lasted about 6 hours.) Its great that the unit does shuts off when it runs out of water.
Its quiet and I sleep so much better with it beside my bed, (especially if the air conditioner is running in the room) .. I no longer get dry sinuses...its now a ritual, that I have it running when I go to bed. I think I will continue to use it everyday at home even after my travels...as its my go to solution for a better sleep.
I bought this for my personal use and never received any compensation for this review.

Fantastic. Other humidifiers are literally 2x the size of this, and still output the same amount of humidity. This one is so convenient. I travel to Arizona and Las Vegas every so often, and coming from a tropical climate, the desert weather is killer to me, especially when I sleep. This is small enough to pop in your checked bag, and stop by a walgreens to pick up some bottled water to use in it. This has helped my sleep well, and not wake up with a sandpaper throat in the dry weather. I even got compliments on it from one of the housekeepers in the hotel I was staying at. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to put Alkalol (a natural mucus solvent) in some of the water that I put through this. It worked beautifully for awhile, and had a cooling effect on my sinuses with it, but when I left it overnight, it ran out of water, and the alkalol dried in it, in a way that broke it. Oh well. Definitely worth re-ordering.
doesn't fit most water bottle sizes

Previous model by Air O Swiss fit all water bottle sizes. The cap on this model didn't fit 1 liter size or 32 ounce bottle. Their tech support says it only works with 17 ounce bottle made by Nestles water. I couldn't find any 17 ounce water or any other liquid bottle at my supermarkets.
That fact appears only on the pictures only use instructions included in the package. Can't use it at all. Too bad. It used to be a good product.
Not sure the Pros outweigh some significant Cons. (THEY DON'T!)

UPDATE: I will be replacing this humidifier. It makes a loud buzzing noise. Randomly the water will seep out of the unit during the night so it sits in a plastic lid to catch water. And on the same setting, one day it will run out of water and the next day hardly use any at all. The first unit I had like this was a Walgreens product that was discontinued. This unit doesn't come close to the quality and dependability of that product. At this point I would not recommend this product even for travel.
This is my second humidifier of this model, previously called Swiss-o-Air. I use it because of the convenience of using a plastic bottle of purified water. Heavy minerals and chlorine foul the unit so distilled or purified water is a must. There is one huge drawback to this unit - it does not have an auto shut off for low/no water. The unit will tend to grow a pink film is not dried out daily. It also has some other features that are unfortunate. It has a blue light that is on when it it in operation that is too bright. I have to carefully cover it with a cloth to be able to sleep. When it runs out of water the blue light flashes off and on several times and then turns red. If you are a light sensitive sleeper, this is like an alarm clock! So, use bigger bottle if you can find one. But this unit wins for portability. It drys out easily for packing, the leg supports fold in, it has an international adapter, and the water container is disposable after each use if necessary.
UPDATE: We have been using this now for a few months. I would not recommend buying this for anything but travel. The mist is inconsistent no matter how you set it. The motor is already making a buzzing noise. The light is toooo bright, it literally can keep you awake. And, not the fault of the product, but the plastic in most brands of water bottles has become so thin that they can collapse under the minimal vaccum created with the connection so you can be awakened by the popping sound of collapsing plastic.
Love It!

Love this little thing. I reviewed several small humidifiers before deciding on this one. I have purchased distilled water to use in it to prevent mineral deposits. Distilled water is easily found at drug stores like CVS or Walgreens. It has an adapter to put in the top of a bottle of water, you remove the cap, insert the adapter and you just turn the bottle upside down and place on the dispenser. The adapter you put on the bottle has a metal ball that blocks the water from pouring out when you turn it upside down to place on the unit. I use a Dasani water bottle because it's a thicker bottle than some of the thinner cheaper store brand water bottles.
I have it by my desk for work and the bottle of water will last about 6 hours on a low setting. It has a turn dial from off to full blast so it's very easy to adjust the amount of mist. The mist starts immediate upon turning it on. I did find that if I turn it up as high as it will go that it will make the papers a bit damp that are very close to it. I just turned down the dial a bit to lessen the mist and problem solved. Nothing gets damp now. When the water runs out it will have a red glow to let you know, but you would know looking it at as the mist stops. When working it has a lovely blue light. I've not tried it in the dark, but I imagine it would be a small glow, nothing bothersome for sleeping, no more than a digital clock.
It came with a nice little bag to store it in and I really like the fact that it's not some big unit with a big bowl of water. It will be easy to store when summer gets here and the air is no longer so dry. The other type I considered was the one that sat on the top of a bottle and had a wick that went in the bottle. That just seemed to me like an extra step to deal with and there would be replacement wicks to buy. I've been using for a week, every day and no problems at all, love it, works great and my nose is no longer suffering from the dry air in the house due to gas heat and cold temperatures outside.
Great while it worked, but my third one has failed. Average life span, three months.

The size and concept are great, and it worked very well for about 3 months. I even started taking it on the road with me to hotels and wondered why the Air-O-Swiss had not come into my life sooner. But then I put it away for the humid summer and have recently taken it out to start using it again, but am sad to say it no longer works properly. It leaks water and gives only a tiny amount of mist. Over 8 hours it went from being able to pump out 1.5 litres to now only about 100ml. When I load the bottle it gushes water over the side and in the morning I find it in a puddle of its own making. What happened to my Air-O-Swiss? I really liked it but how can I order it again after such a short operational life?
Update: Air-O-Swiss replaced it free of charge no problem.
Update: The replacement model worked for only a few months : (
Update: I bought another one, to replace the above, and it's worked for only two months, and now makes a loud noise while it's operating. Such a great design but the reliability is astonishingly poor.
Love This Humidifier!

I had seen these humidifiers in an international electronics store at Tokyo's Narita Airport a few years ago when they first came out. I was really impressed with them, but I subsequently forgot completely about them. Now that we're having an unusually dry winter in Southern California, the need arose for a reliable, productive, compact humidifier. I was excited to try this one out and was not disappointed.
The unit is very well packaged and assembly was extremely easy, taking less than 3 minutes. The multi-lingual directions look overwhelming at first, but are actually quite easy to follow.
The unit has a control for anywhere from a high moisture output to a low one. I had problems using the low setting; for some reason the unit overfilled. But on medium and high settings, the unit works perfectly. I'm going to have to play with the low setting and see if there was something I did incorrectly. The output is very strong on the high setting. Remember, this is a lot of moisture being added to the air, therefore, it will act a bit like a swamp cooler. The temperature in my bedroom dropped noticeably, so this may not be the unit you want to use if you are in a cold, dry environment. Also, follow the multi-lingual directions! Make sure the unit is at mid-level. You want to ensure that the moisture completely evaporates before it comes in contact with any surface. If it's too close to a surface, white powder (residue, hard water salts, etc.) will form on that surface. Those are easily dusted off, however, if left to remain, with time those can be extremely difficult to remove.
The only other downside is negligible. The small water bottle (self supplied) placed on top will last a couple of hours on high setting, and up to three or four hours on medium setting. That is sufficient for me, but it won't last through the night. Of note, though, the unit has a very reliable shut-off system which will activate when the water bottle is empty. A faint red light indicating that the bottle needs to be refilled, replaces the soothing blue light which illuminates during regular operation.
One other caveat, be sure to ONLY use personal water bottles up to the standard size of 500 ml or approximately 16 oz.
I haven't had to clean the humidifier yet, but the instructions say to only use their own decalcifier, EZ Cal, which seems pricey, at $8 for a 3-pack. I haven't done much research yet, but I would prefer to use vinegar.
Overall, this is a GREAT humidifier and I highly recommend it. I'll update my review after some more research on vinegar vs EZ Cal.
