Am I doing something wrong?
by Amazon Customer (3 out of 5 stars)

I followed the instructions, but it seems to flap and fall to the ground when a card is opened, rather than fly in the air. The pictures are accurate (which is why I am giving it 3 stars), but the performance of the product could be better.

Not worth the money but a cute toy
by Cathy M (3 out of 5 stars)

Cute idea, but we were very disappointed at how poorly it actually flew. Plus, the plastic is VERY thin, so it broke after only about 2 uses. I would not recommend this for a gift, since it is very cheap looking (rubber band and thin plastic rods). But, for a fun, short-term toy for a child, it might be fun. I bought 2 of these, and had planned on giving one to my niece for her birthday, but decided against this, since it is so cheaply made.

Came broke. Worthless.

The plastic piece that hold the rubber band piece in place so it can spin came broken so when you wind it up it just falls apart. Useless waste of money. Do not order! They obviously don't check their products to see if they are damage and defective.

Ha ha. This went over like gang busters

This is a great little prank to include in a greeting card, to give your loved ones a little jolt.

I'm the prankster of my circles of friends, and I purchased this to put in my best friend's Christmas card.

It worked like a champ, and he turned white when it flew out of the card.

I'm confident that I'm going to get some more for other friends.

Fun little butterfly. Overall, it brings smiles.

Bought it for a co-worker who is afraid of flying things to put in her birthday card. It has been a blast as this thing has traveled around now to 'surprise' everyone else in our group (they even got me once where I screamed like a lil girl)! We have named him Mr. Flutters and have big plans to expand his reign of terror to the whole floor and beyond!!!

Scared my mother-in-law as planned. Said it was the best card she's ever gotten.

Didn't fly as far as stated but it still worked. For the price it would have been nice to have a card come with it but oh well. As planned it scared my mother-in-law when she opened it. She'd been regularly giving my whole household cards with metal glitter in it so it was time for payback. She was scared at first but said she laughed and it was the best card she's ever gotten. Lol.

Pay attention to direction of winding and wind tight...and works very well! Add a new rubber band an

They aren't kidding about spinning it 25 times (or more) but it does go four or five feet and will startle anyone reading it. I intend to put a few of these in textbooks and wait for my students to find them (I'm one of THOSE teachers). I wish it had been in a stiff package but the plastic (not wood) it's made of will flex w/out breaking during shipping. Pay attention to which way you spin it. The "wings" are bent to provide a much better response in one direction. If you're getting a bad reaction...wind it up the other way and make sure it's wound tight! FUN toy. I wasn't expected a 20 ft flight, so the four or five feet of frantic fluttering is just fine for me!
*UPDATE: we put in a stronger rubber band and this thing LAUNCHED. Made many students and fellow teachers shriek!!!

My roommate had one and hers worked great, it would fly up pretty fast

My roommate had one and hers worked great, it would fly up pretty fast. This one just falls flat and the rubber band has a hard time staying on. I would try look for a smaller butterfly.

Very pretty bit doesn't work as described
by Riddle me this (3 out of 5 stars)

Very pretty bit doesn't work as described. This thing doesn't fly. It's more like an almost dead butterfly who just took a large hit of crack cocaine and is now having a seizure as it crashes to the ground.

Well Made

Bought this for my daughter after seeing the video ad of a similar butterfly flying out of a greeting card. I tried doing that for her and it didn't really work... it mostly just "flew" out a foot or so and then down to the floor, not upward. But she liked it anyway and kept winding it up and making it fly-- sometimes it actually flew up into the air and sometimes it didn't go far. Either way, for an inexpensive item, I'm glad it's lasted this long-- it's made at least a dozen flights without breaking.
