These were a lifesaver during a recent move. My girlfriend and I just moved about 20 miles, and we were faced with deciding how to move all of our clothing. We didn't really want to remove all of our hanging clothing, fold them, pack them, move them, and then have to unpack them again for such a short move, and the wardrobe boxed from U-Haul are so expensive for something we'll use for such a short period of time. Thanks to these clothes bars, we were able to move our clothes one car-load at a time instead. The bar is very strong and high-quality. Her car has hooks and mine has handles, and this worked great for both. It can handle a huge amount of weight, and I would bet you'll have problems with your hooks and handles before you have any issue with the weight this can support. We packed as many hanger as we could on this thing, and actually carried in into our new place instead of removing all of the hangars, and weight was not an issue at all. I'm sure these will come in handy for future moves, and any trips where we need to take hanging clothing.

Used this to move a closet full of clothes 700 miles without a hitch. Strong, well made, easy to hang, and stays securely on the grab handles. Took one star off because of my only criticism - the grip sleeves only cover about half the rod. These sleeves are very effective at keeping clothes hung on the sleeves from sliding from side to side on curves, but those on the bare metal slide. Since this is an adjustable rod, it would be nice if extra sleeves were included. Otherwise this thing does the job and seems to be better built than others I have used.

This rack is AWESOME! Yep, it costs more than the other ones, but this one has the metal hooks instead of the plastic ones. I didn't use it for clothes, which was never my intent. My girlfriend and I attend a huge herb festival with loads of plants, flowers, and other things. We used it solely for our hanging baskets to allow us more space in the vehicle for our other goodies! It.is.perfect! Hands down, one of the best purchases for my intent (along with our foldable wagon for all of our goodies) :)

This was my second order for this clothes bar. My order was lacking one bar, but I was so burned out from shopping and the holidays that I haven't yet contacted anyone.

I gave 8 of these as Christmas gifts. The High Road clothes bar itself is terrific. The materials and workmanship are both high quality. The end hooks are better than great because of the flexibility allowing the bar to work with any vehicle design. Every family, and especially every college student, needs one of these. I have owned a similar one for over 30 years, using it countless times for moves, long distance car travel, special occasions - like weddings- when I didn't want my clothes to get wrinkled. I will add that it doesn't come with any storage friendly help. Because of its spring and 2-part design, if you lift it from the "wrong" end, it comes apart. My suggestion is buy or order simultaneously a 36" x 3" mailing tube with end caps for use as storage. In my opinion, this is the perfect mobile clothes bar. Highly recommended and very well received as gifts.

Now that I've sung it's well-deserved praises, there is one small warning. The marvelous clothes bar smells awful upon first opening. Truly strong, foul rubber fumes. Airing my first order out on the screen porch for more than a month did little to diminish the problem. I certainly wouldn't want my clothes hung on such a smelly thing; in addition, I don't think anyone could drive far with that smell in the car, either. I wish I were exaggerating. I am not. So I purchased a can of Fabreeze to go with each of the 8 bars I gave as gifts. In addition to being a funny Christmas gift, I had discovered on Christmas Eve that dryer sheets and Fabreeze seemed to solve the problem! Thank goodness the rubber smell does not permanently ruin what is otherwise a solid, ideal product. Just don't plan on using this the first day you receive it: Open it, get it out of the plastic sleeve, air it out with the assistance of nicely scented products. Perfect. (Easily 5+ stars if it weren't for the odor issue.)

Set up as a curtain rod in my Toyota Sienna, attached to the handles above the front doors. I used several zip-ties between the metal end hooks of the bar and the Sienna's handles to make the clothes bar secure. Now it is rock solid. For anyone doing stealth car camping, try these items to go along with the clothes bar, all on Amazon:

Coideal Extra Large Metal Book Rings/Loose Leaf Binder Rings, Easy to Open and Close, 20 Pack 3 Inch Silver Circular Shower Curtain Ring Loops for Drape, Bathroom, Home Decor (76 mm) - used as curtain rings - easily goes around the rubberized portion of the clothes bar while also going through the grommets of the curtains.

I sewed the panels together. Also sewed velcro along the furthermost opposite ends, and stuck the opposing velcro near the doors. This keeps out light from the edges of the curtain by pressing the velcro together.

Product quality seems good but there's a major design flaw in the calculation of the hook gap which secures the hook to the rod through the end cap. We didn't find this out until we loaded the rod with dry-cleaning clothes - the end cap/hook popped off, while we're driving and scratched our leather. Please see attached pics

You have no idea how long I have wanted one of these for my car. Every week I take my husbands button down shirts and slacks to have them pressed. Sometimes I will let a week lapse and wind up taking over 25 pieces to 'Ironing Express'. I was always such a hassle to load the freshly pressed items in my car. You could only fit 5 or so hangers on each of the clothes hooks, and I drive an SUV. Laying down the clothing would completely defeat the purpose of having them pressed. This rod is very sturdy. It expands the width of my vehicle easily. The connecting hooks are very well made and help the rod to distribute the weight of the hanging clothing evenly. I especially like that the rod has some rubber spacers that keep the hangers from sliding side to side so that you can completely place them out of your view.

WEll made, BUT stinks to high heaven

I really like this - sturdiest one I've found to date - BUT I couldnt use it for two weeks because of the vile plastic stench coming from the product. There was nothing dead in it ( I looked!) just a very bad, foul plastic-death smell that almost made me send it back.

A friend recommended wrapping it tightly with b/w newspaper - absorbs the best - and I did, but also left it outside as it stunk up my condo. Two weeks, and two changes of newspaper, I had a nice clothes holder for my car. (this paper trick helps smelly old fridges and coolers too! Just wad up and stuff it in there, really bad you need to change out as the paper maximizes the absorption)

Perfect! Fit almost my whole wardrobe for a long distance move. I especially like the metal hooks on this one (other brands were plastic). Fits securely, no chance of falling, and I had A LOT of clothes hanging on it. The only surprise was that about 6" of the bottoms of my dress shirts and suit coats touched the seat. It might be different in your car. Not a big deal for the shirts because that's where you tuck them in. The suit coats needed a little brushing with my hand when I put them on to get the "waves" to straighten out. They weren't creased, they were just a little "wavy" at the bottom (again, I this thing PACKED with clothes). I have no complaints whatsoever and would totally recommend.

A bit pricier than most other clothes hangers I saw, but this one is well made, sturdy, and will hold up to my travel needs. I especially liked the all metal hanging features that allow me to attach the clothes hanger securely to the rear seat passenger handles or hooks of my SUV. A far better choice over the plastic models that may slip off or break easily over time. When not in use, I simply retract the hanger to its original size, and store it conveniently underneath the rear passenger seats. Neat!
