Protection is great, typing is awful.
by WTL (1 out of 5 stars)

It fits the keyboard exactly, but it's slippery - it moves around on the keyboard, it raises up in one area or another while I'm typing. This causes me most of all to not be able to depress the key enough to type the letter, and I have to go back and do it again. I'm sure it would protect the keyboard from spills and crumbs and dust, but that's all - for typing it's awful. I'd return it but I'm just past the return date - I don't use the MacBook Air often, and I noticed the slip-and-slide thing right away, but I figured it would gradually conform and stick to the keyboard. It didn't.

I have a black KB Cover for my desktop Mac keyboard - it's made of silicone, not plastic, and that makes all the difference. It sticks like glue, but it isn't glue, it just adheres and still is easy to remove, and fits perfectly. I've had it for three years with zero issues. I just don't know if silicone would leave marks on my laptop - or if I'd care if it did.

Okay, not everyone loves covers. I get it. But this one is GREAT if you do.

Although I don't put my laptops through as much abuse as some people, they stay with me a long time and get very heavy use. Thus, I've put my multiple Moshi covers through the wringer.

Here are my general observations.
1. In my experience they don't slip around at. all. I have experienced this unpleasant effect with cheaper lighter covers. The moshi covers are just firm enough to cling well to the keys, whereas thinner covers can be pushed out of place.
2. They do become slightly more opaque and yellow with age. But that is after errr... (somewhere longer than 6 and shorter than 9) years! And surely at that point, you have gotten your $20 out of it, and can get a replacement, if you're super into keeping up appearances with your faintly-retro laptop.
3. They significantly soften the sound of your keystrokes, and I prefer the way the keys have a bit more grip. Whenever mine is drying after a wash, I feel like the clatter of my fingernails is going to drive me mad.
4. While not thick or inflexible, they do not wear out like cheaper covers do. They do eventually develop scuff marks where your fingers fall the most (I see these as honorable scars, like when you wear the printed letters off a keyboard, and feel super cool for being... err... for spending too much time on a computer) but on a cheaper cover, my fingers will eventually wear right through the plastic, creating holes.)
5. Whether you are a "messy" computer user or not, dust and particles accumulate. There is no need to get snotty about people who need covers and people who do not. It's my feeling that I prefer to wash a keyboard cover than fiddle around with fishing dust bunnies from the cracks in my keys, but each to their own. My caveat is that, if you use a bit of soap on your cover, be very very very stingy, because it is pretty hard to rinse all the soap off again. This, as one reviewer pointed out, is what is leaving the opaque finish after people wash. ALSO, if you don't get it all off, the remaining soap will coat your keyboard keys with a glossy veneer, which is understandably difficult to rinse off. So, don't be like me and squirt a healthy dollop of dishsoap, rinse for an hour, get bored, convince yourself it's good enough, then not be completely rid of the soap for

Best keyboard cover for Macbooks out there
by S.R. (5 out of 5 stars)
February 5, 2009

Pros-
-VERY thin, I hardly notice that it's installed. Unlike those silicone covers.
-Keyboard lights up clearly, doesn't impede the light at all.
-Takes 2 minutes to get used to. It definitely doesn't feel like a bare keyboard but it doesn't feel like it's a covered keyboard either.

Cons-
-Kinda pricey for a very thin piece of industrial plastic. The price might be high due to the fact that its molded SPECIFICALLY for macbook keyboards. Because it's an EXACT fit.
-DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT fold or crush this cover. keep the original box if you need to store it away. Unlike silicon this product WILL WRINKLE. I decided to clean mine because it does feel sticky after long term use. I cleaned it with soap and water and i decided to WRING it out. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE. the product had wrinkles that would not disappear. I was too cheap to buy a new one so i have to live with annoying wrinkles.

Other than that..this is hands down the best keyboard cover for macs out there and not a lot of people know about it.

Perfect fit, great quality, love the thinness of this skin
by TrishaM (5 out of 5 stars)

I was a little hesitant to order this keyboard skin given some prior reviews about the fit, but I emailed the company (Moshi) and they were very quick to respond that it would fit my new (mid-2015) MBP w/Retina 15" just fine, so I went ahead and took a chance on it.....I'm glad I did. I know it's pricier than many others, but it fits like a glove, even on the upper row of keys that others said they had trouble with (maybe Moshi redesigned it to fit better?).

I have a (different brand) similar keyboard skin on another MBP (mid-2009 17") but this new one is much nicer - much thinner so the typing feels more natural and the keys are easier to read through the skin - it's barely noticeable at all.

Having worked in the tech industry for many years I know firsthand the damage that accumulated dust can do to laptops, even shortening their lifespan, so I have always put keyboard skins on every model I've owned. Yep, it stings to pay so much for a little piece of silicone, but it's worth it in my book if it keeps the interior cleaner, not to mention keeping the keys from getting worn, and I'm honestly impressed with this particular skin.

I will update my review in a month or two after using it, to let you know if I experience any of the other problems some have complained about (discoloration due to heat, etc.). For now, I'm very happy with it.

Protecting My Investment Without Being An Inconvenience
by M. Bowen (5 out of 5 stars)

Bought a MacBook Pro a few months back and want to keep it in great shape for as long as possible. Oily keys from my skin were a pet peeve with my previous laptop which was a netbook and never found a cover for the keys. Read reviews on this and other covers before purchasing. Seemed a little pricey, but so is most anything Apple related.

Mine fits perfectly. It slipped right on and I barely notice it's installed. Comes up easily to clean, which I do frequently, since it will transfer to the screen if I don't. I do keep a microfiber cleaning cloth between the keyboard and screen normally, but I close the lid without the cloth if I'm not packing up my laptop in my bag and sometimes it will transfer the grime if I let it build up. I have not had any discoloration of my cover, as one reviewer had mentioned. (As he states, he is a power user and the frequent use and heat buildup may contribute to the discoloration.)

I bought one for my son who just headed off to college with a new laptop and he hasn't complained about it, so it must be working fine for him. Just trying to convince his picky sister to do the same.

Note - I do want to pass along a note from other reviews - do not fold or roll the Moshi for any reason and take care when cleaning. It will crease and the creases will not come out. I have not and I appreciate the tip!

Wanted to give it 4.5 stars but you can't do that here. Like other reviews here I find it does fit directly over my keyboard fine right out of it's package, but trimming the edge "lip" in slightly on all four outer edges with a scissors helps it lay in the keyboard 'well' ever so slightly better. (but it's really wiggly and doesn't cut well with scissors) I might take it off and use an Xacto blade to try to shave off just a hair on all four edges.

The tactile feel of my touch typing with the protector in place is slightly 'dulled'... I guess that's the best way to describe it. But I got used to it within in a few emails and documents. I guess if I were typing a long document I could take the protector off to improve the key speed and feel for a couple hours, but then I'd probably have a muffin and a cup of green tea next to me and then would be worried about crumbs and spills gettin between the cracks! I have experienced the occasional 'lift' or 'flip' other reviewers mention when my fingers brush the outer edge too fast or the wrong way, but usually it's just a corner that comes up , and it falls right back into place, it's not the entire protector coming off the keyboard and getting out of alignment or anything like that.

For the peace of mind and the full backlighting of the keys, this washable protector is staying in place

Fits like........like it was made to!

I had a Moshi ClearGuard for a number of yrs. Then tried a cheaper silicone one. What a mistake

that was! Didn't even last a few months, much less yrs. Back to Moshi and won't make that

mistake again! These are so thin you don't even know it's there. If you get the right one for your

model, they fit like ... like they were made to....lol. No bubbles, lays completely flat, the backlit

keyboard, if you have one, shines right through. They protect your key board from dust, food,

beverages... you know all the stuff you do when you're also working on your computer.

My computer is almost 10 yrs old and I still invested in a new one. When I order a new computer

I'll order the Moshi ClearGuard to go with it. Wouldn't want to be without one.

The PERFECT keyboard protector
by SunnySideUpFlorida (5 out of 5 stars)
August 12, 2018

I have purchased all the protection items by Moshi. They fit perfectly and stand the test of time well. My laptop will look brand new when I decide to sell it. I especially love the keyboard protector-ClearGuard. You can't even tell there is anything on the keyboard-thats the beauty of it. I had one that I bought six years ago when I first purchased the laptop and it finally started to crack and not as translucent, so I had to go through some effort to find another Moshi keyboard protector to fit my now aging laptop. Luckily through the amazon questions for the community I was able to identify the perfect model. It came today, I'm typing on it now--and I LOVE IT! Highly recommend!

Does not fit exactly on the 13" MacBook Air. Moves around a bit but not so bad. It works fine anyway
by Little Whovian (3 out of 5 stars)

I just got this for my 13 inch MacBook Air. I was a little confused because I originally planned to purchase all my accessories directly from apple but they did not seem to have this one for the MBA. It was listed as made for the MacBook Pro. I see this one is listed as made for all of them and from the photo it looks identical. But since I'm a prime member and had already ordered the computer, I decided to order my stuff on Amazon. So when all the stuff came, I used the teraglove to clean everything before placing the stuff. When I placed this on the keyboard, I immediately knew it was not the ideal fit. It just kind of sits there like it doesn't really belong. Yes, it covers all the right keys and truly, you cannot see it and it looks good on but it does move. I was going to return it immediately but decided to give it a chance and it is actually not so bad when typing. You definitely can feel that it is there but I would prefer that feeling to the chance of crumbs or something getting in between the keys of my brand new and quite expensive laptop. I don't know if the keyboards for all these Macs are the same size. It seems wrong that it claims to fit all MacBook Air and pros. I can tell you with certainty that it was not made to fit the MacBook Air 13 inch. It does fit but not like one would expect from a high end product like this one. That said, I decided to keep it just because it seems to be the best one in the market and I don't have time or patience to return and try several different ones. I gave it 3 stars because after two days of heavy use, I have gotten used to it and it does not bother me at all. Just be warned that it does move around and does not stick or anything.

I had bought a pair of these for our 17" MacBook Pros in 2011. About a year ago mine started swelling and splitting but my wife's is still fine (even though she uses her MacBook much more heavily than I do).

I had bought a Kuzy as a replacement for mine but within a month it started swelling and stretching so it no longer fits properly. The Kuzy was a quarter of the price of the Moshi but there's no comparison. Like other types of protective covers, thinner is better, and 5 years is pretty good for this sort of thing.
