Cute as a gift, but not something I think has great utility
by Private (3 out of 5 stars)

It comes nicely packaged and would make a nice corporate gift. However, I bought it for a specific purpose and do not think it will work out.

I am a nurse and wanted a small knife I can use to open blister packs of medicine. The blade in this is not strong and sharp like my Swiss Army knife blades. It is more like a letter opener, which, to be fair, is how they sometimes advertise it.

I thought the light could be used to examine eyes, but it is not as bright as my penlight. The magnifier is of decent quality for one its size.

The little pen is handy when you can't find a pen.

I keep this in my purse :)

I was gifted a Ruby Swisscard (without the Lite) and was VERY happy with it - and when I saw the Swisscard Lite, I went through the "I've GOT to have one" moment, and bought it. I passed the old Swisscard on as a gift (good "pay it forward" practice for me :) ...

Pros: Credit card style - can fit into a wallet or purse credit card slot
Tools included:

Small blade

Scissors

Straight pin

Pressurized ball point pen

Tweezers

Magnifying glass

Screwdriver (3 mm, 5 mm)

Phillips screwdriver #00-0, #1-2

LED mini light

Ruler (inches, cm)

CAVEATS - does not include a nail file (which is on their regular Swisscard) - oh well - the LED mini-light, magnifying glass and screwdrivers are fair substitutes.

Bottom line: I like it!

It is ok

I bought this Swisscard Lite and small Swiss Army Rambler knife to compare which one is better. Even if the card has more functions not all of them are useful. For example the screw drivers are hard to use in some situations. Also the scissors are harder to operate with only one proper ending. And it leaks some oil inside the card. Led light can be userful. So in general it is not bad but at the end of the day I would prefer standard knife.

Handy tool kit for people who can't (or don't want to) carry a pocket knife
by NLee the Engineer (5 out of 5 stars)
October 16, 2011

I have a Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife attached to my keychain for the past decade, and I can testify to its quality and durability. Recently I purchased this Victorinox Swisscard Lite Pocket Tool
, because:
- It can be carried in the wallet (same size as four credit cards stacked together)
- It has detachable tools (especially the blade and scissors)
- It offers several additional functions (such as LED light and magnifier)

The most commonly criticism on this Swisscard tool kit is that: it does not contain a 'real' knife. In fact, Victrinox calls the detectable blade a 'letter opener' instead of a 'knife'. However, I have no problems with the blade, because it is actually longer than that of my Swiss Army Classic pocket knife. See my uploaded picture in the 'Customer Images' section, for a side-by-side comparison between the Swisscard and the Classic Pocket Knife.

The detachable blade is an important feature when I'm traveling. Previously I must remember to remove my pocket knife and make sure it is NOT packed with my carry-on, otherwise it will be confiscated by airport security. With this Swisscard tool kit, I just keep the blade at home and carry the rest of the tools with me. By the way, I just tested this during my most recent trip. Apparently the airport security only has problems with blades, but scissors are acceptable.

Note that there are two very similar-looking 'Swisscard Lite' available. This one contains a White LED, while the other one (

Victorinox Swisscard Lite
) contains a Red LED. The white one is more suitable for general illumination. Just beware that the light is very wimpy. Still, it is handy in case of emergency.

All things considered, this Swisscard Lite is a great item to keep in anyone's briefcase, wallet or purse. I'll be getting more of these as gender-neutral gifts for the coming holiday session.

Well, good while it lasted...

I really loved this thing, really useful in so many ways. Great little blade, sharp enough to cut me first time I used it backwards (long story, but essentially my fault), functional emergency pen, awesome scissors, usual SwissArmy tweezers, good light on a dark night, and interesting screwdriver tool. Lost the strait pin almost immediately, but whatever..

My big issue is with durability. You'd think something designed to fit in a credit card slot, in a wallet, could survive the trials and tribulations of existing in a wallet. Mine made it 4 months... Then my fat a$$ (6'2", 260) cracked the plastic housing and things just fell apart after that. Since it was cracked, the two sides separated, and everything it usually tucked away snugly became loosely encased. The light failed when the bulb slid out of place, I bent the pen in my pocket, the screwdriver bit made it through an entire wash cycle before destroying my wash machine (repairman found it after a disassembly project... Still a sore subject) and I lost the magnifying glass somewhere along the way. By the time I finally gave up and removed it from my wallet, this little $30 gem and contributed to blood loss, ruining a decent pair of $100 jeans and leaking on most of the contents of my wallet (who knew how much ink that little pen held?), a $275.00 washing machine repair bill (got a sympathetic discount. After all, he learned a lot spending half a day dissecting my wash machine...), not to mention the increased blood pressure.

That said, I did get a neat pair of scissors to decorate the bathroom counter, a nearly brand new button cell battey, a cursed screwdriver bit, a spare Victronox tweezers for my classic knife, and a 2-in letter opener. I just don't have anywhere to store them anymore...

I tried to fix it with superglue, but could never get the light bulb to seat correctly...

Probably buying another one in a few minutes after submitting this review. What can I say, I want to like it. Maybe I'll duct tape the next one before sitting on it. (After all, I've got plenty of spare parts) What could go wrong? Take my money.

Fits in my wallet, like the tools!
by ArvadaDude (5 out of 5 stars)

Was prepared to not like this Swisscard, it looked cheap in the photos. But it actually does fit in my RFID wallet just fine and is light weight. The magnifying glass has already made the tool pay for itself.... works great reading small print on pill bottles etc. I like the tweezers, the knife and especially the scissors. The LED lamp is a bit wimpy but would suffice in a pinch to find dropped items PLUS it has a replaceable battery and the manual clearly shows how to replace it. I wish it had a can opener tool but other than that it is great. I daily carry the Swisstool pliers on my belt but wanted the scissors and the magnifying glass. What a neat idea, and its an improvement over the old model. Would be really cool if it had a USB memory card slot but it doesn't. PERFECT for a Altoids tin survival kit BTW.

A necessity for anyone.
by blonde swede (5 out of 5 stars)

I love this little item, and everyone who sees it, thinks it's a marvel. As anyone who is ever had a Swiss Army knife knows, the scissors are amazing, and even a right-handed person like me can use them in my left hand. You do not have to use opposing force as you do with the regular pair of scissors. The knife is very sharp. The tweezers are very tiny, so are wonderful for picking up or out tiny little things that regular tweezers are too large for. I have not had occasion to use the screwdriver, pen, or pin, but they are there if I need them. I have bought these for decades, but keep forgetting to take them out of my purse when I go to the airport. It truly is about the size of a credit card, so can fit anywhere, in a purse, wallet, or wherever you keep your important items, like a drivers license and credit card.

I really love having a pen-knife
by Eric (5 out of 5 stars)
July 23, 2017

I bought this as a replacement for another swisscard that lasted me 8 years. I really love having a pen-knife, tweezers, pair of scissors, screwdriver, and pin (really just for ejecting sim cards) around. The pen is not very reliable and the flashlight is a dull red light, but it never ran out on my previous swisscard. I always keep one of these with me unless I'm flying.

Great gadget!
by KY Mel (5 out of 5 stars)
January 13, 2018

If you're a handy, fix it on the fly type person, you'll love these. Maybe a little pricey, but I really like mine and wouldn't be without it. I keep it in my cell phone case so it stays with me all day. I find something where it comes in handy seems like at least once a week. It probably wouldn't be TSA approved, so if you fly a lot, well, you know drill...

Outstanding, but very expensive
by Kyle Gerald McAfee (4 out of 5 stars)
November 11, 2018

This thing is excellent, but the price isn't great. For an item this small, even with the spectacular design and quality, it should still only be around half this price in my opinion. Even though I think it's overpriced I would still recommend buying this; you aren't going to get this number of reliable small tools with any other product
