The hat I received looks absolutely nothing like the photo. There is a red felt band attached, there is no "appearance" of leather at all. We will be returning this item. Buyer beware - clear bait and switch. It also has a "Kangaroo" brand tag on it from China.

If i could give this NEGATIVE Stars i would.

The hat is NOTHING like the picture! It has a hideous red "sash" sewn in underneath and dragging out the back. It came crushed and its much too small even for a small adult female head.

You will notice the ONE picture that the seller has up doesn't show any sash nor does the description. It is poorly made and not at all like the photo.

PLUS if you purchase this PRIME thinking you get free shipping and free returns - THEY DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS!! so they just take you $11 and send you a totally different and inferior hat.

I have notified Amazon, and they were kind enough to refund my money and hopefully they will audit this seller.

DO NOT BUY unless you are:
1. fine with a child size "adult hat " that you are going to carry around instead of wear
2. want cheaply made ugly red sash attached to it
3. are fine with no returns.

what a waste.

Product picture must be updated to show the fake red fabric that is stitched around the head hole of the hat (to imitate a bandanna). I was disappointed when I received this hat that it had this as I was going to wear my own bandanna with it.

The rest of the hat was as expected; cheap fake leather and the velcro connection points on each side (buttons would have been nicer).

The hat arrived quickly and in good, new condition. It is the quality material you would expect for this price, but it's still good enough quality for a costume hat (better than some others I've seen). You can easily bend it and shape it to your liking. It had a little piece of bright red felt around the inside rim to create a tie in the back hanging down, but I easily pulled that out without damaging the hat at all. It fit my son perfectly and made a great addition to his renaissance faire costume. The hat fits me also (mom), so we'll definitely be keeping it for future halloweens and ren faires.

Product arrived completely misshapen and unusable, more closely resembling a floppy sun hat than a pirate hat.

The material used in creating the hat seems inferior and cheap but could have lived with it if the item in any way resembled a pirate hat. Also, came with attached red kerchief but I think that could have been removed if hat were in any decent sort of shape.

Very disappointing.

100% polyester, if you want a real leather pirate hat go to museumreplicas.com this hat didn't come with a red cloth, it velcros into place on all three sides, one side has the same type so it won't even close. But it's 15 bucks, my girl wanted to be like anne from black sails, this won't do it. Find your local leather shop and make one.

Wow... check the other reviews, they're right. There really is a big, very cheap looking fuzzy red thing attached to the hat that is hard to remove cleanly (I still haven't managed to get it off). The hat itself is made of some kind of foam and it has no shape of its own. It has a kind of wire running around the brim so you will have to try to shape it to look like a hat. If you just need a cheesy costume hat and you can get it with free shipping, it's not horrible. But don't expect it to ever look like the picture.

We ordered this hat way in advance of Halloween. And it's a good thing. The hat itself is just ok. You definitely get what you pay for. The shipping was awesome though! Very quick delivery is always a good thing. But getting back to the hat... it's a less than $10 hat. The material almost feels like a soft plastic. The wire in the brim helps to shape it, which is a good thing. The Velcro strips (1 at the front and 1 on each side) are a little obtrusive. I'm not sure that they are really necessary, but I'll mess with it and see how it goes and get back to you. For right now it is sitting on a styro head getting aired out and trying to form the shape to a small adult head. The one thing, though, is that from a distance and in the dark, the hat might pull it off. We'll probably use it on a mannequin or skeleton in the yard with low lighting.

Really fast delivery very pleased with that. The hat is very comfortable, but only fits the crown of my head sort of easy to fall off. The material has a realistic leather look which I like, but the material feels like something you'd find in a fair or amusement park toy. Personally i was looking for something to throw with a jack sparrow costume, the hat will do but you cant really bend the rims the right way to match jacks, hat will only go to the one design which isn't a problem that's what it was made to look like. Final thought on the product great delivery time came 2 days early, looks realistic, can work well with a pirate costume if your willing to give a little on the shape of the design, I will keep it because it is fun to wear, however it does seem a little over priced for the quality of the material the hats made out of. 3 stars .___.

metal wire frame for forming, velcro to hold corners in place. In all a good costume hat. Red 1" material sewn into the band of the hat, visible all around the hat, plus 1 side 18" x 2 pieces hang down. Great for pirate look, not as good as I was hoping for renaissance look. tried to pull the red material out, but it looked like it would damage the seam and the hat, so I left it.
