I first found out about these when we were eating at Chick-fil-a. I used to wipe down the tables with wet ones or Purell hand sanitizing wipes, but even then, it's still gross for my kids to eat off the restaurant table.

What I love about them:
1) They are a pretty good size (12"x18") for my kiddos at their current ages- 15 months and 2.5 years.
2) They have cute graphics with animals, words and numbers 1-6 (see photos).
3) The adhesive is on all 4 edges.
4) They make things more sanitary during the meal and then afterwards, clean up is a breeze.
5) They take up absolutely no space in my diaper bag. I put 8-10 in a ziplock bag and toss it into the flat side pocket.
6) When a group of us go out to eat and I whip these out and hand out extras for their kids, they think I'm supermom.

I deducted a star for several reasons:
1) It is super noisy when you're peeling off the adhesive strips. So if you're in a quieter restaurant, for about 30 seconds, everyone in the restaurant is staring at you.
2) After peeling them off, the plastic backing clings to you. Like it's impossible to get them off. So I just stick them on the kids to distract them while I get the mat situated.
3) They are pretty easy for my littles to peel off. I found the best way to deter them is to wrap the bottom edge of the mat around the edge of the table and fold it under the bottom and then distract them like crazy with the toy cars I keep in my diaper bag at all times.

In my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons. That's why I just ordered my second pack, although I've probably only used about 1/3 of the first pack!

These are colorful and great! I love the fact that they are gender neutral. They also have adhesive on the top and bottom (2 sides but all 4 corners) and have had no problem with them not sticking well enough or leaving residue behind. I mean it's totally fine to let your baby eat off the table germ wise because it just goes to their stomach and the hydrochloric acid kills most bacteria. I was more worried about cleaning chemicals used on tables and more resistant bacteria like c.diff. These are BPA free so you can rest assured that your little one isn't consuming weird plasticy chemicals and also are eco friendly. They all come in one resealable bag. I take a few out and put in a quart size ziplock bag for my diaper bag. The only nuisance is once you pull the adhesive strips off and stick in on you're stuck with two clear cellophane like strips. If you crumble them up they unscramble so I usually stick in my purse for later disposal or give to the wait staff to dispose of. Another great benefit is that at the end of the meal you can wrap all the scraps up into one neat ball. Luckily my baby isn't super messy...yet! I just don't like leaving a mess and these help with that immensely. I looked at a lot of these and these were definitely the best bang for the buck in my opinion. These are fantastic for eating out with a toddler. 4 sides with adhesive strips. Sticks right to the table easy to remove, clean surface for kids who drop every thing on the table, light, easy to carry a few in the diaper bag. One thing that could be slightly easier: getting ahold of the backing for the adhesive strips. You have to almost fold the plastic and roll the backing in your fingers to get it started. But we love them none the less!

Wife and I first saw this at Chick-Fil-A and thought it was such a great idea that we noted the manufacturer and bought off Amazon. This is perfect for those food courts or grungy restaurants where you're not sure if they use the same rags for the tables and the floors (or bathrooms.) They have 2 peel and stick strips that run laterally across the mat. I do wish they designed it where the tape backer was actually affixed to the mat so you don't need to put the 2 strips of tape backer somewhere on the table, but it's a minor inconvenience. This might also make it possible to reuse the mat all day.

Otherwise, it's a great, disposable clean eating surface that our toddler makes full use of. We frequently get questions and compliments on this.

Great price for large pack! Everyone asks us where we bought this. We use it for our kids at restaurants and on airplanes (for that kinda dirty plane table that folds down in front of our kids that they love to put their hands and face on ...)

When I first used it, I thought it only had a top and bottom sticky strip. But it actually has a sticky strip on all four side of the placemat. If you use all four strips, it's quite stable and well-secured.

I've had waitstaff thank me for using these because it's also a quick way for us to clean up after messy toddlers ... before we leave a restaurant, we pull off the placemat and wrap their entire mess inside of it. And suddenly, the seat where they were sitting looks super clean ...

Great product to keep around

These are great to have in your diaper bag for restaurants. During the phase where my son likes to throw plates, it's best to place his food directly on this plastic mat. We originally bought one of those reusable silicone mats with the suction backs but quickly realized it wouldn't stick to most table surfaces. The silicone suction mats would really only stick to glass. Any other surface, and my son would yank it right off. That, and we almost always forgot to wash it between restaurant visits. We were forced to just wipe it down with a baby wipe before using it again. With this product, that problem is solved!

These stick to more surfaces, with the exception of linen or other fabric table cloths. It's also difficult to use on round tables, but I doubt there are any other solutions out there for these specific situations.

My son does occasionally try to peel these off the table, but again, it's nothing against this product design. Overall, I like this product and have bought it 3-4 times. I always keep a couple in the diaper bag and a few backup in the car.

I'd been searching for some sort of sticky plate or table protector to use when taking my 13month old out to restaurants. The suction cup plates we tried didn't stick to most restaurant tables. I was a little grossed out to let him eat off the table. These toppers are the perfect solution. I apply the topper just before his food arrives (applying when we first sat down seemed smart at first, except he picked at it until his meal arrived). The toppers are a great size, and I usually wrap the bottom few inches around the end of the table.

Only 4 stars because I wish the sticky strips were wider, or if the whole mat was sticky. My son saw the thin sticky strips as a challenge and had the edges pulled up in under a minute (which is why I stick just before his meal arrives to the table).

LOVE these. Bought them on a whim because my one year old likes putting his mouth on the tables when we go out to eat AND we can't use a plate for him for food because he loves picking them up and making a mess. These are perfect to protect the tables, keep his mouth from picking up gross germs or spreading them, and the cleanup is so easy. Yes, the other reviews are correct in that the tape strips you have to pull off get all static-y but, seriously, just deal with it. Love this product. Will be purchasing again and for baby # 2.

Not for infants

Our daughter is 7 months old--she can sit up in a high chair and eat finger foods, so I got these for restaurants to set finger foods on. She destroyed them in under 30 seconds. I tried the tip someone else said about tucking one end under the table, but it was no use--she just ripped it off the table from the side and shoved it in her mouth. The crinkly plastic is just way too tempting, so we had to throw out the ones we tried to use and just offer her food in our hands instead.

These are great! I got so tired of trying to clean off restaurant tables and highchair tops. I wish my daughter would stop putting food directly on the table but until that time, these give me peace of mind! I was bringing along a reusable silicone placemat but it didn't always stay in place. These are easy to apply -- tear off the two strips and adhere directly to the table surface. The strips are sticky -- be careful or it will stick to itself while you are putting it down. It stays stuck to the table and easily comes off when you are ready to go. I also use these for airplane travel -- put on the seat tray that we know isn't clean!
